The Eternal Mageocracy of Basementees is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Ođinnshrafn Khagan Numerian IV Drake with an even hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants, vat-grown people, and punitive income tax rates. The hard-nosed, humorless population of 19.291 billion Thu'uls are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The medium-sized, corrupt, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Novus Damascus. The income tax rate is 100%.

The frighteningly efficient K't Hu'ul economy, worth an astonishing 13,984 trillion Runcibles a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, broadly diversified black market in Information Technology, Uranium Mining, Arms Manufacturing, and Woodchip Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is a breathtaking 724,928 Runcibles, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The nation's most "productive" diamond mine hasn't been operational for seven months, organ donation is compulsory, camera crews have accompanied conscripted dancers to film 'Marching On Ice', and cars speed down national highways while drivers sleep at the wheel. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Basementees's national animal is the Ursine Phoenix, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution, and its national religion is Nahuatl.

Basementees is ranked 465th in the world and 2nd in Pax Britannia for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 15,437.63 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
