ANOMALOUS PANDEMIC FIELD REPORT
NATIONAL PEOPLE'S LIBERATION ARMY WESTERN COMMAND
31 OCT 2018

NPLA Western Command, as represented by Command Commission consisting of Brig. General Pavel Panov, Brig. General Yasen Gavrilov,
Col. Gen. Petko Darakov, has compiled a report on the current emergency event which has occurred throughout the Fatherland.
The report is to serve before the Highest Authority, Brother No. 1, and is thus considered top secret.

In 20:15 of 30 October, Commune 61 chief political officer Zdraveski (#80013) reported a disturbance in the commune created by
Party officer Neychev (#80557), who reportedly suffered a mental breakdown. Neychev attacked several commune members
during a political indoctrination session, inflicting superficial wounds upon some of them, and a broken arm to one of the commune
members. After several unsuccessful attempts to be pacified by means of blunt force and chlorpromazine, Neychev was shot dead with
a single bullet to the head by one of the communal guards. He was displaying a range of physical symptoms as well, but
commune clinic personnel could not identify the disease during autopsy. Reported symptoms were hemorrhaging, rapid
tissue degeneration (including nerve cells), muscle cramps and various types of internal and external lesions. Commune member Neychev
had been assigned on a monitoring mission for our troops in Greece a week before, which is the possible source of contamination.

Five hours after receiving the report on the disturbance, chief political officer Zdraveski reported a full-scale revolt in the
commune, which then numbered 1,717 peasants, guards and political officers. Before losing communication with him,
he had requested an air force intervention as the revolt was apparently out of control and heading towards the nearby Commune 62.
Three Su-25MT "Kazuar" aircraft of 18th Strike Squadron in Skravena, loaded with thermobaric bombs and unguided rockets,
were immediately flown to the site of the disturbance and left none of the rebellious population alive. A detachment of the 511th
NBC Protection Regiment was sent to the site of the commune and gathered enough evidence to ascertain that an anomalous
epidemic had struck the commune. The detachment subsequently sprayed the site with kerosene and burned all human remains,
clothes, equipment and demolished the ruins of all communal buildings.

By 6:40 on the next morning, NPLA Central Command had received several dozen similar reports from Communes 62, 64, 107, 402 and 28.
State Security archives revealed that each of these communes had at least one member who had recently carried out battlefield
inspection duties in Greece. Peasant revolutionary regiments under CENTCOM command were dispatched to the contamination sites, but
were eventually overwhelmed by "aggressive, seemingly unresponsive commune members with abnormal
physical appeara" [sic, radio transmission]. By 9:00, the National People's Liberation Army was put on full alert in all
military regions. Fighting was now occurring in at least 25 communes in the central and eastern parts of the country,
with confirmed casualties among peasant revolutionaries amounting in the hundreds. The People's Committee of Domestic Affairs
had not yet come up with a coherent report on the now full-blown epidemic, which hampered the efforts for effective
prevention and control.

By 12:00, several dozen communes and a number of military units had gone silent. Infantry regiments 14, 15, 21, 26 and 8,
artillery regiments 10 and 12, NBC Protection Regiment 511, 50th Marine Battalion, NPLAAF 6th Strike Squadron and
NPLA Eastern Command headquarters had become unresponsive to orders. A huge explosion was reported at the base of
the 5th Missile Regiment, most likely in the warhead storage area. Considering safety procedures implemented over the years
and the excellent preparedness of its staff, the explosion was most certainly deliberate. Central Command headquarters near
Plovdiv had gone silent by 14:30. This is also the reason why this report has been compiled by the NPLA Western Command,
which so far remains one of the two active commands, along with the Southern Command. The status our national
population is so far unknown; our current estimate is based on the number of responsive communes and indicates that
less than 1/4 of the inhabitants of the Democratic Republic, or approximately 1.3 million people, have survived.

By 19:00, NPLA forces were engaged in dispersing and eliminating hordes of infected individuals across the entire country.
We have managed to establish a defence perimeter around Special Establishment 56 and Sofia, Skravena and along several key roads
and mountain passes. However, Border Guards along Serbia report that hordes have begun infiltrating the nation from the West
as well. By the assessment of our NBC teams, this means a full-blown pandemic has struck the region, if not beyond. Ammunition
and food supplies will suffice for the time being, and surviving communes are providing the raw materials we need to continue
our military operations. However, the hordes are becoming increasingly aggressive, and our men are fighting in 12-hour shifts
to fend them off. Despite our best efforts, we are slowly losing territory.

The Western Command, in its role of the largest operator of surviving NPLA assets amounting to 135,000 troops, 500 tanks, 1,800
armoured vehicles, 4,000 pieces of artillery, 36 combat aircraft, 80 ballistic missiles and the Fatherland's stockpile of chemical
and nuclear weapons, hereby informs the Highest Authority that the situation in the country is now threatening its very existence.
Considering the lack of cure for this condition, the increasingly numerous hordes, and the uncertainty over the situation on a
wider scale, the Western Command will likely seek approval to use tactical nuclear weapons on our own territory.
