Elections

All electable, single-seat positions in Genesis are done via approval voting. Multi-seat elections with three or more members utilize the single transferable vote system. Both use optional preferential voting. The National Assembly is subjected to six year terms, respectively. Supreme court justices are not elected but are instead nominated via independent, merit-based panels and legislative approval, and are subjected to a term limit of 17 years.

Election Day is held for every single position in the nation on the first Friday of August and is a national holiday. Food, entertainment, debates, and discussions are typically held at community centers indoors and outdoors for the citizens at no charge. Voter turnout is usually high in elections; around 70-80%. This is due the fact that citizens are automatically registered to the voting rolls at the age of 17, when the right to vote becomes available, and that citizens can also cast their votes up to three months before Election Day. Voter ID's exist and are universally provided upon registration.

Private contributions are completely prohibited to incumbent and appointed officials. Political campaigns themselves are also limited in scope as political advertising is banned on television and radio. Political campaign spending, however, is not limited at all. All campaigns are publicly financed, and the time period for campaigning is short (within a few months) as defined by law.
