The United Voluntarist States of Jotunland is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Grammaticus with a fair hand, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants, anti-smoking policies, and rampant corporate plagiarism. The hard-nosed, democratic, humorless, devout population of 25.22 billion Jotunlandians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The medium-sized, liberal, socially-minded, outspoken government is primarily concerned with Education, with Industry and Healthcare also on the agenda, while Law & Order and Environment are ignored. The average income tax rate is 19.0%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Jotunlandian economy, worth a remarkable 2,910 trillion aaltiks a year, is quite specialized and led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Woodchip Exports, and Uranium Mining. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 115,409 aaltiks, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The government helps teach children how to kill a man from six paces, the education system is being cleansed of all corporate influence, bris parties are all the rage, and teenage male videogamers often suffer repetitive strain wrist injuries. Crime, especially youth-related, is pervasive, probably because of the absence of a police force. Jotunland's national animal is the Elkwylf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Jotunland is ranked 52,827th in the world and 1,740th in Balder for Largest Basket Weaving Sector, scoring 3,848.68 on the Hickory Productivity Index.
