Duties of the TBF:

1. Setting a standard model of taxation and trade for imports and exports between member nations
2. Keeping the Galactic Calendar and administrating the Steller Era system of dates
3. Administrating the system of Galactic Common Time (GCT) which is a single agreed upon time determined based upon the average number of processing cycles achieved by a series of 1khz processors installed on standardized trading vessels. GCT operates on a 24 hour day and corresponds roughly with Eastern Standard Time (EST)

Regulations:
1. Any time something is exported from one member nation to another, both the buyer and seller will pay a tax of 5% that will be distributed evenly between all member nations; This is called the transit tax.
2. Once the buyer and seller have paid their 5% each (10% total) the trade goods may pass through any member nations without incurring normal import/export tariffs or taxes. Nations who already paid their transit tax cannot be taxed again by member nations for moving their goods through their territory.
3. Nations can choose to spend up to half (2.5% of 5%) of their transit tax on building new infrastructure leading to or from other member nations instead of paying the tax as money. They still have to pay 2.5% of the tax if they decide to use infrastructure building to cover the other half.
