The Borderlands of Wormonionplace is a massive, pleasant nation, notable for its keen interest in outer space, pith helmet sales, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, humorless population of 1.079 billion Wormonions are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.

The large, corrupt, moralistic government prioritizes Defense, although Administration, Law & Order, and Healthcare are also considered important, while Welfare and International Aid are ignored. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Scallion. The average income tax rate is 61.6%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The strong Wormonionian economy, worth 97.8 trillion shallots a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, quite specialized black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Woodchip Exports, and Uranium Mining. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 90,655 shallots, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.0 times as much as the poorest.

Maps of the enemy's positions are often covered in blood, foreign policy often involves bullwhips and leather, in life full of care there is no time to stop and stare, and the only way to escape lengthy prison terms is in a body bag. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Wormonionplace's national animal is the roly-poly, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Wormonionplace is ranked 27,838th in the world and 1st in Dreams of Good Hope for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 230.68 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
