WA Delegate Election: Interview with Ichoria

El Fiji Grande:
Ichoria,
As you publicly stated in your announcement speech, you "don't really like positions of power." What made you feel so strongly so as to encourage you to run for one this time? I know you've provided a nuanced answer to that question in your announcement speech, but to better record these reasons in the annals of history, I feel the need to ask again. Please bear with me. (Thanks in advance!)
Ichoria: Hey, Fiji.

Well, it's not that I'm scared of positions of power, I just don't necessarily enjoy the responsibility of protecting the community from outside threats, or the hassle of moderating the discussions that take place within the community itself. Many aspects of NationStates, stuff like inter-regional cooperation, defending and things like that, just don't attract me all that much.

RP is the area I'm most interested in, and it is (in my view at least) the fundamental aspect that needs to be revamped for us to grow again. But I can't really implement any of the reforms I'm after without first getting a new constitution passed, which I now have the time and energy to do during my Summer break.

El Fiji Grande: I think we all appreciate the drive it took for you to single-handedly write the proposed new Constitution. Did you draw inspiration from systems other regions have? While none of us enjoy the responsibility of moderating our community, it is a task that I believe may be necessary. In the new Constitution, who would be responsible for that?

I'd like to focus less on the proposed Constitution, and more on the subsequent reforms. I see very little to disagree with, and see only a blank slate more slanted towards RP for our region to move forward. Do you have any specific plans for further reforms? Additionally, how will we attract new RPers to the region, and how will foreign affairs with other regions play a role in that?

Ichoria: To be honest I had very little outside inspiration when writing this current draft of the constitution. It was mostly based on the "legalese" already present in the current one, coupled with a desire to streamline this region's government (no Regional Council, different take on the justice system, no Chancellor, etc.).

Regarding moderation duties, the WAD would be responsible for it in places such as the RMB and most Discord server channels, while the Lore Director would have the power to moderate posts relating to RP, as those need to fit extra rules in order to be acceptable lore-wise.

Talk of reforms rests on the assumption that a new constitution passes a referendum, which I think one will (citizen input is going to be ideal during the finalization stages). Should that happen, and should I be elected for office, my priority would be to finally implement the reforms I've been after (moving claims and RP to the NS forums and getting rid of the labyrinthine mess the INWU forums have become) while simultaneously attracting new talent to the RP scene.
Mass TGs are, quite simply, a waste of our time and money. We need to advertise to the people who fit our desires directly, and we need to go outside the NationStates bubble to places like the Discord servers of communities who share our interests (such as r/worldbuilding, r/heraldry, and a plethora of others).
