Minister of Roleplay Election: Interview with Tracian Empire

El Fiji Grande:
Tracian Empire,
Let's skip the formalities, and get straight to the heart of the issues. Ichoria, in his WAD announcement speech stated it already, but I firmly agree that the reason roleplay isn't active in this region has less to do with the efforts (or lack thereof) of the Minister of Roleplay (MoRP), but of the people of this region who lack the will to commit themselves to those efforts. Do you agree, and how does that change the way you plan on interacting with others as MoRP this time around?
Tracian Empire: Well - it's pretty late around here, so I apologize if there will be any issues with my answer.

But, to begin with - completely pushing the blame on the members of this region would be rather hypocritical. Yes, the biggest cause for the inactivity of the player is formed by the players themselves. Most of them don't commit themselves to our worldbuilding or roleplaying efforts. Some only want to take part in a specific part of roleplaying, and they refuse all worldbuilding. And others simply don't post at all. But a part of the blame also lies in the generations of MoRPs that haven't done much, me included. We could have tried to do more things, we could have tried to push for a reform long ago - but we simply didn't. I'm not going to apologize for it. Each of us believed that what we were doing at that time was right. But I'm not going to refuse to acknowledge that maybe, I could have done more.

Now, I'm not accusing anyone. Not in regards to players and their issues, and I'm not accusing any of the other MoRPs of anything. But it's clear that we need to do something in order to change our current situation.

Now, my behavior is going to change in several ways. We will be forced to set a limit in regards to the map. You can't be on the map and do nothing roleplay related. No one is forced to create a personality for whoever ruled their country from 234 BC to 212 BC, but everyone will need to have at least a rough sketch of their history, culture, and foreign policy in place. I'm fully aware that some people dislike this - but if we want to create a roleplaying world, we need worldbuilding. So those who absolutely hate the idea should perhaps just abandon the map.

The thing is, people do have different tastes, so besides from the main RP map that will see a lot of worldbuilding, I am planning to help players create whatever they want. We can have military scenarios, character meetings, diplomacy. There is going to be a main news channel, like we had so far and like it exists in Kylaris, but complementary roleplays belonging to other genres will also exist.

And the main effort of my next term will be to recruit more roleplayers to this region, because we need them. And the key to that, in my opinion, does not lie in TG recruiting, but in establishing our region on the NS Forums and moving the applications thread there.

El Fiji Grande: Nothing to apologize for; that's a fair and substantial answer. Thanks for putting so much thought into this, as always. So, in summary, we need more roleplayers. And for that, we need to post active, interesting roleplays to the NS Forums. Do you think starting with just one, fairly active one, in which at the very minimum, everyone in government participates would help? Regardless, I want to be a part of it, since summer is here and I have time to help.
Tracian Empire: Well, posting more varied roleplays would be something that we should, but we should focus on our regional map roleplay first. We have a world there, a world we need to build, so I believe that we should move the map claims thread from the already dead regional forums to the NS Forums, like other regions do.

But of course, like I said, not everyone is interested in worldbuilding. So I think that we should have a poll at some point, to see what kind of a short roleplay people would be interested in - something to spark some activity.

El Fiji Grande: I agree. Consolidation is important. Getting ourselves out there is important. Inserting ourselves into P2TM is important. I have personally always been more interested in Character RPs, but if they are done within a framework, and within the same timeline and world as our Regional Map RP, perhaps that is for the best.

Well, enough said. I believe I have heard and understood your position, and I think you have articulated it clearly enough for others. Thank you for your time, and thank you for participating in another Fiji Election Interview!

Tracian Empire: Well, just a small thing - I've always been a lot more interested in character roleplays too - and most of my efforts in P2TM are geared in that direction.

But well, thank you for taking your time to make these interviews!
