So Long And Thanks For All The Fish

/
Farewell.

Friends,

It's been a good, long run. Over the years, I have accumulated good friends and allies, both here in the INWU and in SP. Time has passed, and we've all grown with the years. I have countless memories of all the good times we shared, and of all the challenging moments we had to get through. I hold these memories fondly, and will continue to cherish them long into the future.

I'd like to call out a few nations here, and share a moment, notsalgically reflecting on the past. There are too many nations to name, so if I've missed your name, rest assured that it was a simple mistake. These are in no particular order, and are listed just as they come to mind.

I'd like to thank Xin Prussia, for his trust in me. He's been a great founder for the region.
To Estradia, for your time as Chancellor during my tenure; what a great team we made. Thank you for having forgiven me. You shall remain one of greatest NS friends.
I'd like to thank GROSS Independency/Zwotstyg, for the interregional cooperation between the INU and SP, which brought us to where we are today. For his kindred spirit in allowing us to join his circle of regions. For the rivalry we shared to steer the INWU on the course it remains to this day.
Greater New Poland - affectionately abbreviated as GNP - for our travel chats and destination recommendations, especially in Europe. It's always been nice having someone to talk to.
Crumstain, for joining us in SP in the Delta Base RP so long ago, and for your good humor and straight-headed wisdom ever since. May we share a meal of Malkbaconne before I depart?
Topsail Empire, for the year in which we RPed and led SP together. I will always remember the Bovine incident. You deserve another Delegate's Medal. Be sure to scramble the fighters a few more times.
To New Educandi, for his sincerity and leadership during the first Great Split. I will remember your courage.
To Mallaska, for responding to that one TG I sent so long ago that brought you into the INWU RP scene. I'd also like to thank you for your service... though from what you've told us, I'm not sure how much good it's done, lol.
To East Ibsenia, for being such a great friend through High School, and for joining me on NS. Your SP RPs were the greatest, and I enjoyed spending time with you getting involved in our government. Remember The Trial?
To Falling Stars, for all the same reasons. Also for your activity in the military-side of NS.
I'd like to thank Albiorix, for his tact and leadership, and for having forgiven my poor judgement. Your terms as WAD of this region were excellent.
To Savalen, for his continued support, and for his work as Chief Editor of The NorthWest Star, our former regional newspaper. I also enjoyed your Sport RP from so long ago.
I'd like to thank Atlantica, for starting me off on this epic journey by recruiting me from Skyholder Aerospace Inc.
I'd also like to thank Lamborghinia for merging his region with SP. I don't know if I would have found my way otherwise.
To Hockesin, for his continued humor and trust in me. Also for the fun we had RPing. Oh, and how could I forget your probes?!
To Othelos, for teaching me a thing or two about integrity. Also for your time serving as an ambassador in our Foreign Service.
I'd like to thank Tracian Empire, for his long-term dedication to regional roleplay, and for his considerable understanding and ability to compromise.
To Timberwolves, for being THAT GUY all this time. Have fun at Arby's, mate.
To Veyris, for your chaos. (Seriously, are you Moragona?)
To Grothbord, for his consistency.
To Ugandavitz, for sticking with it.
I'd like to thank Hijjma, for his persistence. That man deserves to be delegate one of these days.
To Ichoria, for his incredible ability to keep up with regional cartographic needs. I'm impressed with your ability and your humility.
To MSS, for your work on NorCon.
To Chinevion, for enjoying my Eonos roleplay. I really wish that had lasted longer.
To Cekan, for your honesty. You've put me in my place many times, and I appreciate that.
I'd like to thank Divadland for his telegrams and kind words. His correspondence has brought many a smile to my face.
To Puldania, for coming back. I hope you forgive me for Hanover.
To Ravenstvo - I wish you'd come back. Perhaps you can take my place.
To Pharthan, for his very cool, realistic military factbooks. The effort you put into those has always left me astounded.
To Lolder, New Emphillion, Altique, Norcoast, Luso, and Germanic Republic for somehow always being there, in the background somewhere. I'll remember you guys.
To The Valen Empire, for providing a counter-balance to many an issue back in SP. You helped even things out.
I'd like to thank Sieverdonia, for being a true friend, and for his brief time serving in our regional government. We had fun in those weeks. Also, for staying in touch despite being years apart and on other sides of the country. I'll be coming home for the holidays this winter, so maybe we can get together for a few games.
To Mammo, for being there.
I'd like to thank Gatito, for running against Albiorix. Few know this, but doing so actually helped keep the region together, because your victory helped prevent another split. Your campaign was really fun, and to this day, you deserve a second chance.
To Kathmandue, for his criticism. I've always appreciated your honesty and bluntness.
To Darendull, for your fantastic flag. I was your biggest fan.
To Astrosis, for being an impressive delegate in a tough time for his region.
To Nardin, for being the grand duchiest Grand Duchy out there.
To The Laxus Union, for the times we shared back in SP.
To Vortukia, for being the heart of my first great NS controversy, and for facing the adversity that followed with persistence.
To Dernland, for joining us in the Delta-Base RP in SP. Boy, that's one of the great NS memories of mine.
To Fairroam, for being really cool in allowing me to introduce you to SPIA. You were my greatest recruit.
I'd like to thank Organized Geth, for helping us craft one of our first regional constitutions.
To Hugohk, for being the guy with the memorably giant RP nation. Also for always making the Z-Days more of a challenge.
I'd like to thank Gerist, for being ambitious.
To Askium, for being a good acquaintance early in my INWU career. Also for being a candidate in some of our early elections.
To Celibrae, for helping boost our regional RPs.
To Mapleston, for founding a political party. It has become a modern meme, bringing humor to our community. You've had more of an impact than you probably realized.
To MNSMR, for helping out. Also for your celebration upon reaching page 6000.
To Dotaria, for your service. Also for being an early RPer with us.
To Nation Dare, for being crazy. Like the rest of us.
To Golfia/Wuguo/etc for your many puppet iterations.
Nanmaunaktuk. Umm... for being our regional Nanmaunaktuk.
To West Halibut, for being a total bro.

My two opening tenures as WAD here were the grandest months of my NS career, and though we encountered adversity and hardship, we overcame these factors to become a stronger region. In the delegacies that have followed, we have ushered in a new generation of NS players, and have adapted with the times. I strongly support the current administration, and believe the hard work they do every day and continue to do now will serve the INWU long into the future. Their passion for reforming our region and determination in doing so stand as a testament to the perseverance of our region and tenacity of our spirit.

These past two weeks have been difficult on me, and I'd like to apologize for all of the discontent I've stirred up, and foul moods I have had a large hand in causing. While I remain firm in my belief that I have acted with what I believe to be in the best interest for the region, I am willing to admit regret for the manner in which I have behaved.

Know that this is a decision I have made with considerable thought, and one that I know will not be easy on anyone. I do not want my departure to lead to another split, and I request that no one follow me, unless you feel the need to do so of your own reasons. I intend to leave quietly in the night, and I hope no one notices my absence until I am long gone. I wish to leave on good terms, and on a positive note. I hope that the future of the INWU is as bright as its past, and that the current regional leadership succeeds in their goals.

While I have made my decision, and it is final, feel free to telegram me whenever you wish. I hope to keep in correspondence, and as such have left my ambassador puppet Caleann behind. That said, my focus will turn to The North Pacific, which I have selected to be my new home. I have always been more interested in foreign affairs and regional government than roleplay, and while my heart is conflicted, my intuition judges this to be the right decision. I'm in tears that this is where it must end, but I wanted to truly thank everyone for all the times they've shown me, and all the lessons I've been made to learn.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Thanks for your time,

~El Fiji Grande
