The Orion Federation

THE ORION FEDERATION

The Orion Federation is an interstellar alliance dedicated to furthering interspecies co-operation among its members, to maintain order in the Orion arm and the wider galaxy, and to promote the rights and freedoms of the citizens of its members. Among its primary objectives are the ensuring of peace between its members, the promotion of the rule of law and representative democracy and to maintain the defensive military pact shared by its members, as well as fostering economic and societal development across the Federation.

The Orion Federation was founded by the United Nations of Earth, the Xindhar Union and the Confederation of the Tau. Since that point, numerous other space-faring civilisations from across the Orion arm have joined the alliance, including the Khrau Interstellar Empire and the Mani Republic.
The Orion Federation currently has eight participating members, and one suspended member: The Beil Hierarchic State, for failing to implement a sufficiently democratic system of government in line with the principles of the Federation.

The Orion Federation was brought together and expanded to its current size as a reaction to more hostile civilisations that neighbour the members of the alliance: As the Orion arm is the main link between the Sagittarius arm and the Perseus arm, its strategic location has attracted the attention of rival powers by the way of the Galactic Union in the Perseus arm, the Tael'Kari Empire in the Sagittarius arm and the Jind Confederation in the Orion arm also. The current Federation Standard Year is +107.
