Political Parties of Germeria

Die Nationalliberale Partei
Name: The National Liberal Party
Primary Ideology: National Liberalism, Federalism
Color: Yellow
Seats: 200
Leader: Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck

Platform: The NLP stands as the dominant political force in the Germerian political machine, having won an impressive electoral victory in the middle of 2019 and gaining control of the Reichstag and Bundesrat with a coalition with the Zentrum party. The National Liberals stand for economic freedom, a republican form of government cooperating with the monarchy and a limited interventionist foreign policy. On economics, the NLP stands for minimal economic regulations and a free market economy, with minimal to no welfare programs, though the government does spend money on promoting charity and social unity.

On politics and foreign policy, the National Liberals favor a republicanization and democratization of the aristocratic Germerian Diet, by expanding the role of voters and increasing the powers of the lower legislative bodies vis-a-vis the Diet. They also seek the support and cooperation of the Kaiser and other noble elements in society, carving a moderate niche for them to occupy. In foreign policy, the NLP is in favor interventionism when it suits Germeria's interest to do so, such as maintaining Germerian hegemony or upholding commitments to former allies or friendly nations.

In the civil sphere, the NLP is in favor of civic nationalism and guaranteed rights. They support the eventual integration and assimilation of the new Razonican subjects as citizens of the Germerian Reich, and are in favor of a federalization of the Germerian Reich, where individual areas determine their laws while also being subject to the Kaiser and Reichstag.

Their party leader is Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck.

Die Zentrum Partei
Name: The Zentrum Party, Zentrum
Primary Ideology: Conservative Liberalism, Rhine Capitalism
Color: Blue
Seats: 145
Leader: Heinrich Brüning

Arising onto the new Germerian political frontier as the coalition partners of the Nationalliberale Partei, the Zentrum Partei represents the conservative wing of the coalition while also maintaining the tenets of liberalism. In general, the Zentrum Party represents social conservatism, promoting charity and welfare programs to help the sick and destitute only, while maintaining a free market system. They favor limited interventionism like the National Liberals and on civil liberties they are distrusting of foreign nations that have fought Germeria in the past.

For politics, Zentrum has campaigned for a more aristocratic republic in line with the former political system, while also expressing support for an expanded Reichstag. Having been formed out of the liberal aspects of Franz von Papen's failed campaign for Reichsminister, they have remained ideologically consistent with von Papen, and have called upon him for advice with regards to their coalition. They are more suspicious of the Kaiser's role in the government, and favor strengthening the nobility as a counterweight.

In economics, the ZP favors a free market economy mixed with various welfare programs to aid the destitute, sick and poor, as well as other groups and morals associated with Lothricism. However, unlike the SPD, they wish to limit the extent and growth of these programs.

In civil affairs, Zentrum pressures for a moral and religious society where each citizen cares for the welfare of fellow citizens, but also refuses to make legislation for such things at the present moment.

Their party leader is Heinrich Brüning.

Die Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands
Name: The Social Democrat Party of Germeria
Primary Ideology: Social Democracy, Progressivism
Color: Pink
Seats: 115
Leader: Alexander Liebknecht

The Social Democrats are a new political player in Germeria, representing the older socialist elements of society adapting to survive in a new environment. Because of the break in friendly Germerian-Neroian relations following the Razonican War, the socialist political actors in Germeria sought new inspiration and contacts in the world to guide them. They found them in the post-Razonican states on Aldes, where nationalism combined with progressivism in the wake of the monarchy's collapse.

In economics, the SPD favor a social democratic approach, where capital is still privately owned, but trade unions hold major power and where government prograams and regulations bind economic activity. Minor elements of Neroian socialism and Laerolkian collectivism exist.

In the political sphere, the SPD favors a strong pacifist bent in foreign affairs, but a pacifism where Germeria's economic and social interests reign supreme. They desire for a centralized parliament governs economics and political activity and where the monarchy holds a purely ceremonial role in government and daily life.

In civil liberties, the SPD are tried and true progressives, where ethnic and religious minorities are protected and held as an example of multicultural values. Programs such as affirmative action and biases towards minorities are favored by the SPD.

Their leader is Alexander Liebknecht.

Die Fortschrittliche Volkspartei/Liberale Bewegung
Name: The Progressive People's Party, Liberal Movement
Primary Ideology: Republicanism, Social Liberalism
Color: Orange
Seats: 45
Leader: Marie du Fontaine

The FVP was formed out of the left sections of the NLP and conservative wing of the SPD, both discontent with the lack of progress on the NLP's part and discouraged by the far reaching goals of the SPD. The FVP/LB coalition favors an almost fully republican form of government, where the monarch is either severely restricted or abolished entirely.

In political matters, the FVP/LB is in favor of an entirely or nearly entirely republican government, where a President is elected from amongst the citizenry. Due to the mixed party background, a strong executive president is combined with a federal system of administration, and in foreign affairs they support a strong Germerian bent in global matters.

In economics they are a mixture of NLP's free market and SPD's welfare state, where capital is privately owned and some government programs and union powers are granted by the government. In civil matters they strongly support for civic equality and minority rights more than the NLP, but draw the line at SPD's almost fetishistic admiration of other ethnicities.

Their leader is Marie du Fontaine, a Razonican immigrant from before the war.

Die Herren Partei
Name: The Lords' Party, the Old Guard
Primary Ideology: Mercantilism, Aristocracy
Color: Silver
Seats: 20
Leader: Gunther von Hugen

The remnants of the old order in Germeria, the HP, or more commonly the Old Guard, fight a desperate struggle to reverse the change ushered in by Vorbeck and the Kaiser and return to a sense of normalcy that has prevailed in Germeria for centuries.

Forced to change in the race against Vorbeck, many of the Old Guard's positions have been moderated and led to a small increase of support. In economics, the protectionist economic policy of the aristocrats is championed, with the aristocrats vowing to defend the common citizen against predatory Scottish and Neroian influence. A free market is preferred, where the Old Guard hopes to sway middle class and capitalist voters to their cause.

In politics, the Old Guard wishes to reduce the Kaiser to a formality, pending a new election for a more malleable candidate. They also wish to empower the Diet once more and relegate the Reichstag to its traditional advisory role once more, while abolishing the Bundesrat entirely, which they see as illegitimate and unnecessary. They also desire to restore the nobility to their former governing role of their ancestral domains.

In foreign affairs, they aim to keep the current status quo of the world, where Germeria remains at a slight lead ahead of other nations, while also maintaining good relations with other nations to enhance their influence.

Their leader is Gunther von Hugen, the Margrave of Hugen.
