The Beepeean SPaRTA Referendum (Results)

The Beepeean - South Pacific Regional Trade Agreement (SPaRTA) Referendum  took place on 14 November 2018 in Beepee to gauge support within the country for joining the SPaRTA.

The referendum question, which voters answered with "Yes" or "No", was "Should Beepee join the South Pacific Regional Trade Agreement". 

Voting took place between 08:00 and 22:00 (local time) at polling stations across Beepee. Counting began after polls closed. Votes from the regional centres were counted and announced by each area separately, with the national election centre declaring the final vote close to midnight.

Total Votes

Yes Vote 62.6%

No Vote 37.4%

The "yes" side won, with 532 million (62.6%) voting for and 318 million (37.4%) voting against.

Turnout was 84%.

Today, Beepeeps across our glorious land exercised their democratic right to vote in this referendum.

The decision of the electorate was resoundingly clear, Beepee shall join the South Pacific Regional Trade Agreement. This referendum was an unprecedented exercise in democracy

Beepeep's voted for free trade, we voted for closer ties with our allies, we voted for SPIT. And now it is up to us, here in the Beepeean Parliament to finalise the agreement.
