Rwekazaland and Treshmania never got along with each other since the foundings of each nation. Roughly founded within 3 weeks of each other, the two nations had very opposite views. Rwekaza preferred war over diplomacy while Treshmania had the reversed opinion. Treshmania focused on political and civil freedoms, while Rwekazaland focused on a dominant military. Tensions only increased when the two nations were placed side by side on the official StrangeReal map.

Both sides were aware that a war would break out soon. The Islands of Tonga also realized this. Because Rwekazaland and Treshmania were in the same alliance, they were forbidden to go to war with each other. However, both nations ignored this alliance standard law. The Islands of Tonga tried to prevent the war from occurring, but did not succeed. Treshmania realized that Treshmanians would be viciously whooped if they did not clean up their sloppy "military" before the war. Treshmania responded to this issue with increased military spending. Meanwhile, Rwekazaland already obtained a large and tidy military, and Rwekaza gathered his forces. Rwekazaland made the first move.
