Abbreviated History of the Empire

About a thousand years ago, the lands of Flugzeugland were inhabited by various tribes. In those days, Flugzeugland only comprised of the Capital Valley and surrounding mountains, where Verhalen sits today. The tribes inhabited this valley had similar cultures that enshrined war, conquest, and bloodshed and as such were at constant war, vying for scarce resources and power within the cold, mountainous land. After centuries of war and conquest, one leader rose to unite the tribes, Flugzeug I, also known as Flugzeug the Champion. Unlike the other chieftains whose thoughts were consumed with war, Flugzeug I thought to maintain a balance between diplomacy and conquest so as to more efficiently promote the growth of his homeland. The home of his tribe was the mountain that became the center of the capital of Verhalen today.

His descendants expanded the small chiefdom for the next three hundred years or so, eventually forming a Petty Kingdom, taking over the whole Capital Valley and its surrounding mountains. After its power had grown over three centuries, Flugzeugland was plagued by a series of incompetent kings, civil strife, and treachery. Thus, the Kingdom of Flugzeugland began a slow yet steady decline, losing territory to both foreign wars and internal rebellion.

Upon the coronation of the next ruler, Flugzeug XVII, Flugzeugland entered another age of glory. Flugzeug XVII, with the guile and bravery of the First Flugzeug, set to right the wrongs of his predecessors and return to the ways of the ancestors. Upon his quest to build the nation through peace and war, he met a grand immortal wizard.

After years spent befriending the wizard, she eventually offered to grant him immortality. After accepting this offer, Flugzeug XVII has spent the last seven hundred years building the Empire to where it is today, expanding its territory and developing its economy and infrastructure.
