New King Crowned!

After the recent death of his father, former King Clement II, King Ives I has been crowned King of New Britanny and Duke of Baustelle (the New Britannic capitol) at the young age of 27.

Many are skeptical about this new king, seeing as his older sister Princess Bernadette had been the one groomed to take the throne, but after her tragic death in a car accident last year, King Ives I has been thrust into this new position with little training. Others, however, point out that King Ives I has a Masters degree in Economics and good relations with many of the trade guilds. This, though, may lead to the guilds gaining more power than they have had previously.

The crowning took place at St. Ivo's Cathedral in the center of Baustelle: thousands of people lined the road on which the royal limousine rode on the way to the cathedral, and the ceremony was complete with all of the traditions and quirks passed down through generations.

King Ives I has inherited a few problems, such as the coal miners' strike and increasing tension between the Royalist and Republican parties. In the end, only time will tell if King Ives I can handle the challenges that come with the office.
