Major Cities

The nation's diverse peoples are represented by its 4 major cities.

The woodland population of Newtopia refers to itself charmingly as the world's largest Luddite population. While all of the Liberated Peoples Cooperative is environmentally friendly, the city of Newtopia takes conservation to another level. Nestled in the Newtopian Woodland Preserve, the fairly stable population of 422 Newtopians live off the grid. They eat year round from their communal garden, supplemented by gathering from the forest, and are the only Liberated Peoples Cooperativeans to be granted a conditional exemption from compulsory vegetarianism. They may share between them up to 200 ounces of fish per person per year, in recognition of their fully sustainable lifestyle. Cars are banned in the whole of the Preserve, and Newtopians have the lowest incidence of major health issues in all of the Liberated Peoples Cooperative.

Los Amigos Libres is the Liberated Peoples Cooperative's major port city. It's known for beautiful beaches and also for being the most industrialized city in the nation. Los Amigos Libres and the surrounding area has more job placements than anywhere else in the Liberated Peoples Cooperative, and the population is growing most exponentially from this city. Los Amigos Libres sees its sharpest population spike every May 1st for the annual May Day Parade, Festival, and 100K Ultramarathon.

Ciudad Feliz grew from the original settlement of Hans and Violet Mustardbottom, father and mother of the Liberated Peoples Cooperative. It sits just outside the Newtopian Woodland Preserve, with all national roads leading to and stopping in Ciudad Feliz. There are markers and monuments all over the city, revering such historical sites as the Mustardbottom's first kiln, their first hut, and their bonfire clearing, which has been preserved and expanded into Horseradish Square, an outdoor area frequented nightly by free spirited revellers. Ciudad Feliz is home to the Peoples Center for Knowledge, the nation's only university. Liberated Peoples Cooperativeans travel to Ciudad Feliz for its thriving museum district and renowned cafeterias.

The cosmopolitan capital city of Communistan is home to a large international community, as well as the majority of the nation's legislators. The Leader's Quarters, nicknamed "The Grey Goblin" for its curious combination of Brutalist style architecture and ornately gilded, two-story double door entrance, anchors the centre plaza. The plaza is the cultural hub of Communistan, with immigrant vendors selling their wares, food trucks lining the street, and the hum of the city's legislators arguing with one another. All of the Leader's addresses are given at the People's Podium opposite The Grey Goblin. Free Lunch, a communal meal served family style is a Communistan tradition hosted by the Leader every Monday in the plaza.
