Unitary Pasundan Republic of Aryasatyanagara

Aryasatyanagara consists of hundreds of distinct native ethnic and linguistic groups, with the largest—and politically dominant—ethnic group being the Sundanese. A shared identity has developed, defined by a national language, ethnic diversity, religious pluralism within a Muslim-majority population, and a history of colonialism and rebellion against it.

Name of Aryasatyanagara derives from the Sanskrit Aryasatya (आर्यसत्य) and Nagara (नागर), meaning "Noble country". The name dates to the 18th century, far predating the formation of independent Aryasatyanagara. In 1850, Haji Sahib Muhammad, an ethnologist from Province Tambelang used Aryasatyanagara as a synonym for Colony of 5 Province. After 1900, Aryasatyanagara became more common in academic circles outside the British, and native nationalist groups adopted it for political expression.
