What is Saarland?

Saarland is a region dedicated to expanding its influence as far as possible. We hope to form a fun, welcoming community while also spreading our influence far and wide. Whether you're an ambitious player looking to leave your mark on the gameplay landscape, an RPer who wants to delve deep into worldbuilding, or a casual player who wants to chat on the forums and play multiplayer games over Steam, Saarland welcomes you!

How do I get involved?

Firstly, join our Linkour forums! Once you have, register for citizenship Linkhere! This is where most regional government activity and roleplaying will take place.

Also join our LinkDiscord for more casual discussion and planning.

You can sign up to join the recruitment effort and make a name for yourself Linkhere.

What's the deal with our government?

Saarland is a constitutional monarchy. The Emperor, Kaisersesch, holds limited and mostly executive authority. The legislative branch is Parliament, headed by a democratically elected Chancellor. The Emperor also appoints ministers to help him with his executive duties. If you're interested, please read our LinkConstitution!

When we eventual expand into an inter-regional empire, our regional government will remain mostly unchanged, but we will also become part of a larger imperial government.

If you want to get involved with our government, the best way to start (besides being active and getting to know everybody) is by joining a ministry! The only current Ministry is the LinkMinistry for Recruitment.

What is roleplaying?

If you're interested in the setting of our main roleplay world, please read our LinkiiWiki Article, credit to Reinmont for putting together the page.

Roleplaying is cooperative storytelling. Winning or losing is unimportant - everyone wins when you tell a good story. Several players write a story about their nations together, whether it be about a war or a diplomatic conference or a poor bloke who got hit by a rogue rhino, and the story affects the canonical universe of the region. Please, bear in mind that when you play to "win," all it becomes is a contest to see who can make the best ass-pulls and the whole affair leaves a sour taste in everyone's mouth. Also bear in mind that what your nation's info page says need not apply to the nation you roleplay as. It would be ridiculous seeing nations with a 13 billion population roleplay with nations of 10 million. Make up something realistic and stick with it, even if it contradicts what appears on the NationStates website itself. It's just more fun that way!

If you want a basic guide to roleplay, you can find that here, and a much more detailed guide here. Don't get overwhelmed - as long as you follow the basic tenets of roleplay you'll be doing better than most! Please direct all roleplaying questiont to Reinmont.
