Overview

The Kingdom of Vuryn is a large, industrial kingdom ruled by the King of Realms. It consists of four regions and 67 provinces, each province ruled by a monarch subordinate to the King of Realms. Trade is vital for Vuryn as is any other nation. One key factor to the success of the Vurynian economy is the fact that Vuryn contains many rivers and other landforms home to cities. Those cities then act as centers of trade and business.

History

The Kingdom of Vuryn is seven centuries old. It uses the "Leyar Calendar," with Year zero (0) marking the birth of the Kingdom and the rise of the first King of Realms. The Kingdom of Vuryn was an isolationist country between Years zero (0) and seventy-three (73). One reason for this is that Vuryn had many internal issues, directing attention away from foreign countries. However, with the third King of Realms Itre Lothri in charge, Vuryn finally started to address its neighboring countries and economics. The massive East Jade River runs through the center of Vuryn, acting as an opportunity for maritime trade; in an effort to spur others to trade goods via Vuryn's rivers, Itre Lothri established a city atop Mount Ilith, a massive protrusion of rock, the size of a small mountain, that overlooks the East Jade River. Itre Lothri named the city after his family name, calling it Lothri (formally referred to as the City of Lothri), and formally established it as the capital city of the Kingdom of Vuryn in Year seventy-eight (78). The project was successful. Merchants and businessmen could travel the Jade River or the Neuts River to the East Jade River and buy and sell goods at Jeante Port, which lies at the foot of Mount Ilith riverside, below the City of Lothri. This project helped to establish more trade routes and cities, boosting the economy.

Geography

The Kingdom of Vuryn is divided into four regions based on differences in culture and politics: the Northern Realms (the Front), the Western Kingdoms (the Vestique), the Southern Principalities (the Princi), and the East Border Kingdoms (the Eastess). Each region is further divided into provinces, which are each ruled by a monarch (King) subordinate to the King of Realms. The Vestique, the northern Princi, and the Eastess serve as centers of trade, while the Front and the southern Princi are full of natural resources and serve as locations for the exploitation of them. The southern Princi is home to many areas of farmland while the Front is home to many forests and woodland areas and hunting spots. Goods produced in these regions can then be shipped to trade centers in cities in the Eastess and Vestique. While the landforms in the Eastess and Vestique don't allow for the exploitation of natural resources, there are some thriving industries in these regions. The Vestique has strong industries in manufacturing and furniture. The Eastess also has strong industries in manufacturing and also in book publishing (the Eastess is home to the Grand Archives scholars and to the clergy; many educational institutional are also situated in this region). Each region has their own thriving industries and role in trade and economics. Different resources are concentrated in different parts of the nation.
