"No touching the relics, if you please. You are in a place of learning - that said, I am perhaps among the lucky few curators in this omniverse to have to tell you not to touch that, lest it tear your life energies from your body and drag your consciousness through the metaphysical equivalent of a belt sander. Good, you seem to have taken that to heart. Let us continue the tour."
-Dagfinnur Einarsson

Dagfinnur Einarsson, often nicknamed the Palm of the Mountain, is the first and current occupant of the Fifth Seat on the Council of Seven, as well as the duly-appointed Grand Archivist of the Guild of Eisenstern. Having befriended Kresge during his days as a monk, he now spends his time cataloguing and classifying the various artifacts and curios in the Guild's ever-expanding collection. An avid historian and scholar, his intimidating, vaguely-bestial appearance and fearsome combat prowess belie a man, primarily, of learning. As a curator of the unknowable, his position is perhaps among the most central to the Guild's overarching ambitions.

History

Personality

Dagfinnur is, despite his rather fearsome looks and reputation, a friendly and courteous individual. He treats practically all social interactions with a generalized, hearty warmth, and is often viewed as a sort of pseudo-father figure by many of his subordinates and comrades within the Guild. While he is certainly devoted to his work, and does not particularly appreciate being disturbed in its midst, he is almost always willing to dedicate a portion of his time to hearing out and aiding with others' issues. In combat, he attempts to take the path of least resistance, and fights using a sort of gentle efficiency - preferring not to kill unless he has to, but fully capable of doing so should no other option present itself.

Political Opinions

Dagfinnur's political stance is deeply ingrained in his personality and interests. His primary concern with regards to legislature remains cultural and historical preservation - in his eyes, to allow for the destruction of historically-significant objects is to allow for the devaluing of a nation's identity and place in the world stage. Aside from his (rather understandable, given his drive towards historical integrity) unapologetic outlook with regards to vandals and perpetrators of graffiti, he is rather liberal in his remaining views, and does not put great stock into governmental control. In this, he sides with Kresge, and is very much content to remain under the Guildmaster's rule.

Pro and Anti

  • Pro: Historical & Cultural Preservation, Education, Personal Freedoms

  • Neutral: Economics, Religion

  • Anti: Fascism, Communism, Brutalism, Vandalism, Futurism

Personal Life

A lot of Dagfinnur's free time is spent in his workplace - that is, in the Guild's Vault. There, he studies relics and literary materials from every time, place and permutation of the omniverse, in order to both further the Guild's understanding of its arsenal and to sate his own unending curiosity with regards to such matters. When outside the Vault, he often reads - practically every genre of both fiction and non-fiction is seen as in some way interesting, though he prefers works of a historical provenance. He is also an avid writer, though what exactly it is he writes is unknown to all but himself, and his works are kept in a series of heavily-warded, booby-trapped journals.

Abilities & Equipment

For all his scholarly nature and quiet disposition, Dagfinnur is still a member of the Council, and thus an utterly terrifying fighter. His specialty falls under the mantle of unarmed combat - aided by his astronomically superhuman physical attributes (chiefly in the form of strength and endurance), he is capable of felling armies with naught but his bare hands. Knowledgeable in practically every martial art known (and unknown) to man, he is particularly skilled in a discipline known as the Gateway of Tempest - an ancient form of combat which incorporates powerful elemental magic.
