Leadership

Leadership of the Covenant

Background

Ever since the collapse of the Covenant Empire and the disappearance of the Prophets, leadership has been complicated for essentially all Covenant splinter factions. Various remnant groups are usually led by Elites or Brutes, but there have been a rare few that are noted to have been commanded by the extremely few Prophets that remain or even Grunts. Kuul Bjadam, the leader of this particular faction, is an Elite. What's more, he was a former field marshal in the former Covenant Empire, giving him military legitimacy as well. However, Bjadam is not the only commanding officer of his Covenant, as a hierarchy must be maintained to keep the Covenant running. The following members of Bjadam's Covenant are the highest-ranking officers in it and each are responsible for ensuring that Bjadam's Covenant is in top shape.

Kuul Bjadam

Overview
Supreme Leader Kuul Bjadam is the head of Kuul Bjadam's Covenant, obviously. He both formed and leads this Covenant faction and is currently the highest-ranking Covenant splinter-faction member of any splinter faction. Bjadam is one of the most wanted terrorists by the UNSC. Bjadam's Covenant is also the terrorist organization with the highest priority on a similar UNSC list. Bjadam himself is a highly skilled tactician and strategist, along with being a very strong warrior and being very capable in military logistics.

Covenant Service
Bjadam was a field marshal in the service of the Covenant Empire during the Human-Covenant War and took part in major battles such as Reach and Harvest. He was later stationed on High Charity when the Great Schism occurred. During this battle, he led a platoon of Elite Rangers against both the Flood and what he believed to be Brute rebels that were trying to tear apart the Covenant. By the time he and his troops departed from High Charity on a CCS-class battlecruiser, he came to realize that the Brutes were actually fighting on behalf of the Covenant and that he was the rebel. Disgusted with both the betrayal he saw as perpetuated by the Loyalists and the rejection of the Covenant religion by the Separatists, he ordered Shipmaster Mok 'Kadhar (who was loyal to him) to flee both sides and go into hiding for some time.

Postwar
Bjadam originally enlisted in 'Mdama's Covenant with his subordinates, but came to discover 'Mdama's atheism and grew to resent him, seeing him as a heretical pirate. He defected shortly before 'Mdama discovered Requiem and stumbled upon a Forerunner artifact of his own: a battlestation. He then set up shop there and focused all his efforts on developing his faction as a fully-fledged military organization. This quiet militarization continued until the Battle of Kamchatka where 'Mdama himself had been killed and what remained of his forces headed to Sanghelios. By then, Bjadam saw his faction as developed enough to fully emerge. When Sunaion fell, Bjadam declared himself the sole leader of the Covenant, even attracting many former shipmasters and their ships from 'Mdama's Covenant.

Mok 'Kadhar

Overview
Mok 'Kadhar is a fleetmaster operating within Bjadam's Covenant. He is the chief lieutenant of Kuul Bjadam and is the commander of this faction's fleet, the Fleet of Unyielding Solace. 'Kadhar is a fanatical Forerunner worshiper, even going as far as to be more fanatical than Bjadam himself. However, 'Kadhar is also very loyal to Bjadam as well, which gives him more freedom as the commander of the Fleet of Unyielding Solace. 'Kadhar is skilled in fleet warfare strategy and tactics and has extensive knowledge in Covenant religion.

Covenant Service
'Kadhar was formerly a shipmaster of a CCS-class battlecruiser throughout his tenure in the Covenant military. He participated in the Invasion of Reach and had served alongside Kuul Bjadam himself. 'Kadhar was eventually a shipmaster commanding his ship during the Battle of Installation 04 and was lucky enough to survive both Master Chief and the Flood. He was later transferred to High Charity as one of the shipmasters participating in the defense fleet until the Great Schism. By then he established communications with Bjadam and sheltered him and his bodyguards in his battlecruiser, deserting both sides as the two viewed the Prophet of Truth as a religious innovator and corrupt and the Arbiter as a heretical warlord.

Postwar
'Kadhar and Bjadam eventually linked up with Jul 'Mdama, but Bjadam discovered his atheism and informed 'Kadhar and his crew. This prompted 'Kadhar to leave 'Mdama's Covenant with Bjadam and their ship. Drifting through space, 'Kadhar stumbled upon an old Forerunner battlestation and docked his ship. This marked the beginning of Kuul Bjadam's Covenant. As a reward for his loyalty, Bjadam named 'Kadhar as the commander of what was to become their fleet and the official commander of his Covenant's military arm. 'Kadhar was also tasked with running the development of said military arm. By the time of the Battle of Sunaion, 'Kadhar was now in charge of a fleet of many dozens of starships and answered only to Bjadam.

Vort 'Abduk

Overview
Guardsman Vort 'Abduk is the personal bodyguard of Kuul Bjadam. He has been tasked with the protection of the life of Bjadam, effectively being one of his closest confidants as well. As both a confidant and the personal guard of Kuul Bjadam, he has much political and military leverage and power. Not only this, but he has also personally known Bjadam for longer than anyone else in his Covenant and as such is a mutual friend of Bjadam. 'Abduk is primarily skilled at melee combat and is a known critical thinker.

Covenant Service
'Abduk was originally an honor guard of the High Prophets. He served Regret on Harvest and was one of the few honor guards to have survived his service. Eventually he reunited with his childhood friend, Kuul Bjadam, on Harvest after the death of then-Arbiter Ripa 'Moramee. Having then been transferred to Reach alongside Bjadam to serve a lesser Prophet on an ship, he got a close look at the glassing though never having set foot on Reach. This lesser Prophet was later ordered back to High Charity and with him his honor guard detachment. Months after arrival, the Changing of the Guard occurred and 'Abduk was demoted to a Ranger. He was tasked with serving under Bjadam and soon became Bjadam's personal bodyguard by the time the Great Schism happened. He managed to exact revenge, killing the Brute that replaced him and taking back his armor to wear it from then on. He then followed Bjadam and left High Charity.

Postwar
'Abduk assumed his new role as bodyguard of Bjadam and went with him wherever he went. As Bjadam and his ship joined 'Mdama's Covenant he also enlisted. He defected as well as Bjadam as 'Mdama's atheism was exposed to Bjadam and his loyalists. He followed Bjadam during their ship's exploration and finding of an ancient Forerunner battlestation. 'Abduk was there when Bjadam established his Covenant and was appointed as the personal bodyguard of Bjadam. He retained this role until the Battle of Sunaion, where he was given the chance to prove himself in battle. 'Abduk was dispatched to what remained of Sunaion with a detachment of Bjadam's best soldiers to exterminate whatever remained. He was successful, having dispatched many Swords of Sanghelios and 'Mdama Covenant stragglers. Eventually, the Swords of Sanghelios sent a force four times greater than his own but Bjadam and his fleet arrived on time and sent in enough reinforcements to finish off the Swords still at Sunaion.

Peth 'Rjadt

Overview
General Peth 'Rjadt is a field officer in Kuul Bjadam's Covenant. He is personally the chief of the Covenant's Ranger Corps and leads his troops into battle more often than not. He was originally part of Jul 'Mdama's Covenant but later defected to Bjadam's side. He is an excellent field tactician and is much more capable on the ground than in a meeting hall or a starship. 'Rjadt is well-known to many Covenant splinter groups and their enemies as a dangerous military officer, with far more victories than defeats.

Covenant Service
Peth 'Rjadt didn't see much service in the Covenant Empire. For the most part, he was training in a military academy as a military strategist and tactician aboard High Charity until the Great Schism disrupted his training. Soon after, he fled the scene and went into hiding with a select dozen or so of his clan to avoid any military conflict while he would continue his training in secret (one of these clansmen was his senior instructor). During the time between the emergence of the Great Schism to the Battle of the Ark, 'Rjadt would simply train and train while his clansmen in hiding with him would dispatch mercenaries to fight for them on Sanghelios against rival clans seizing their opportunity in the wake of the Covenant's split.

Postwar
In the postwar period, 'Rjadt too would become a mercenary. Instead of being an average rank-and-file trooper, though, he would essentially become a field commander for hire. For around a year 'Rjadt would conduct many successful military engagements for whoever paid him to do so. He later stumbled upon 'Mdama's Covenant whose teachings would rekindle his faith in the Covenant. Eventually he met Bjadam who also enlisted, but came to realize that Bjadam was correct in later callinf 'Mdama an apostate and a deceiver. 'Rjadt would side with Bjadam and join his Covenant as a prominent field commander, biding his time until 'Mdama's death which led to Bjadam's Covenant's emergence as a military power. Currently, he has a Grunt sidekick who emulates pretty much everything about him, save for his Grunty charm.

Brapzap

Brapzap wears an older Ranger harness like his boss, Peth 'Rjadt
Overview
Brapzap is the self-declared head honcho of the Grunts in Bjadam's Covenant. In reality, command over the entire Ranger Corps belongs to Peth 'Rjadt and Brapzap is just his sidekick. Brapzap isn't the bravest warrior on his own, but he is a sycophant and will do anything for 'Rjadt to think he's cool so he is often spurred into bloodlust when 'Rjadt is around. Not much is known about Brapzap during the existence of the Covenant Empire save for a rumor that he sided with the Covenant Loyalists during the Battle for the Ark and somehow made it off before it blew.

Postwar
Sometime during the postwar era, Brapzap linked up with Bjadam's Covenant and became personally acquainted with Peth 'Rjadt. Ever since, the Grunt Ranger has followed him around nonstop and even dressed like him. Instead of butchering the expendable Grunt, 'Rjadt decided to keep him around as a cross between a court jester and an attack dog. Even though most of the other species in Bjadam's Covenant see his claim to being the "big boss" of all Grunts, the majority of Bjadam's Grunts take him seriously and Bjadam himself even recognized him as a leading figure in his military, albeit one on a leash. It is said that the only time Brapzap didn't run away from a fight without 'Rjadt by his side is when he personally executed several of his brethren of both the Swords of Sanghelios and 'Mdama's Covenant on Sunaion, declaring them heretics and apostates.
