You, like us, are dedicated to the cause of Democracy, Equality, Solidarity, Freedom and have decided to join us! But you don't quite know what to do. Now that the black helicopters have magically transported you here, you're confused about what else could possibly happen. Well, never fear! We are here to help you get adjusted and settled in the DSA!
So that's a weird name you've got there... Why "Assembly"? Whatís your origin story?
It's a rather long story that dates back seven years from the publication of this dispatch.. There was a Democratic Socialist Alliance before this region was born, but unfortunately, the founder, Cynthia mckinney abused her power and Opalaland and New bazlantis, rivals for the delegacy in the old Alliance, decided to start a new region but kept the old initials. Thus, the Democratic Socialist Assembly was born on the 8th of April 2011. Hereís a link to our NSWiki page (which has failed to update) for the history!
Okay then. So what do I do now?
Well, we would recommend that you register on our regional forum. That is the place where the official events in our region, like elections, happen. Furthermore, it is needed to opt-in to our Charter and become a Member of Congress.
We would also recommend you to join our regional Discord. Itís the place where most of the furious debates, chatter and role-play occurs. We will be there in the Discord, waiting for you!
Once you're there, I'd recommend looking over and opting-in to our Charter, the supreme governing document and compact of our region. Sort of like of our own little constitution. Opting-in confers upon you membership in the Congress of the DSA, the legislative body of the region, and rights and privileges not afforded to ordinary residents.
I'm a World Assembly member. Am I supposed to give endorsements to anyone?
Unlike many other large regions, the DSA has no policy on WA endorsements. The only thing to be aware of is to not get so many endorsements as to usurp the Delegate, who is elected in the Ministerial Elections and then given endorsements to raise them to the position in-game. If you somehow manage to usurp the democratically-elected Delegate, you risk being (temporarily) ejected by the Founder so as to restore the rightful delegate to power.
You can endorse anyone for any reason and actively seek endorsements if you like. Actively seeking endorsements for no reason is discouraged, especially if you have no experience with government. Endorsing the current Delegate is MANDATORY under Charter law, as it makes the delegacy more secure against potential invaders. In addition, endorsing the Delegate effectively gives you two votes on WA resolutions: your personal vote and one of the Delegate's votes resulting from your endorsement. As an extra bonus, the Delegate's votes are directed not by their personal opinions on resolutions, but on the collective opinion of the DSA as a whole.
How do I get a slice of that map?
If you are a Member of Congress, all you need to do is stake a claim on our regional map. Just keep it reasonable and our Director of Cartography will get to it when they can.
We HIGHLY recommend that you read our Map Dispatch before joining the map. It goes into full detail on the requirements of being on the map. Along with that, itís also where we store all of our maps, from the most updated ones to archives of all our past maps. It should be noted that the cartographer(s) reserve the right to refuse to add or to edit any nation or feature on the regional map. They are a God with unlimited cartography power :P.
