Nejlika was founded through a revolution against a colonial empire that had subjected the contry to exploiation, oppression and even attempts at ethnic cleansing. The uprising was primarily led by several socialist groups and had the supportof a large majority of the population. The Nejlikan revolution was simultaneous to another succesfull uprising in the heart of the empire, the new leaders quickly recognizing Nejlika as an independent state and even payed some reparations for the mistreatment of old. A constitution was drafted that passed a referendum with around 73% of votes in favour.
