Introduction
The United Duchies of Mierria, often refered to as Mierria, is a nation in the Morean Archipeligo, facing the South Sea at its west and the Great Sea at its east. At 262,101 kilometres in total land mass, it is one of the smallest nations in the world.Mierria traces its origins as a nation to the Ancient Era. The first Mierrians from the Western Continent traveled via a landbridge from what is now Quetzuna to the Island of Interia-Visca. From there, Mierria became the first nation to sail before it was ever even a nation, sailing from Interia-Visca to Rayver and then Milosia in the 10th Century B.C.
While Piracy and Commerce dominated Mierrian history for the next few centuries, what truly defined Mierria's experiences before the Common Era was their religion, the Pantheon of Thesalla, the Sea Goddess. Religion is still a very prominent aspect of Mierrian culture, tradition and politics, with 98% of Mierrians identifying Thesalla as their God.
Since 1961 to present, Mierria has identified itself as a republic. However, since the 'Rise of Gaetz' in 2014, the Republic has been ruled by president and virtual dictator John Gaetz.

Mierrian-born philosopher Jacob Orviachi refers to the Mierrian nation as a "Failed people", claiming that they "have proven time and time again that they are not capable or worthy of self-determination." It was this nihilistic, nationalistic spirit upon which John Gaetz rose to power.
