The Story of Jaedyn the Emancipator

Before Diahn was a sovereign nation, it was under the control of Aradne. At the time, Ara was ruled by King Patrick the Ruthless, an unjust and tyrannical leader. King Patrick had two legitimate daughters named Jaedyn and Quinara. Jaedyn was next in line to rule the country, however she was being forced into a marriage with the leader of another kingdom so she would have no power. To escape her fate, she jumped over the side of the ship that was carrying her to her wedding on the day of her 18th birthday. She landed on the shore of Rae, and was greeted by its inhabitants with open arms. She lived there for a little more than a year, and during that time she saw what life could be like without being controlled by her father, for you see Ara exerted almost no control over Rae at the time. Jaedyn and the Raeites were free to live as they pleased. During her time on Rae, Jaedyn had a daughter with one of the islanders that she named Diana Marie Morrow.

Back in Aradne, the king assumed that Jaedyn had died at sea, for that is what the sailors on her ship were told to tell him, and so he negotiated for Quinara to marry the man that Jaedyn was to marry. However, since Quinara was too young to be married, they had to wait for two years. During that time, Quinara was under the control of her father just as Jaedyn had been. A year passed, and Jaedyn decided that she needed to visit her sister. When Jaedyn saw Quinara, she could tell right away that her sister was not the same person that she had been. So, Jaedyn took Quinara away from the castle, for the man that she was to marry was just as horrible as their father. They both travelled back to Rae, but the king soon noticed that his second daughter was missing. He had many other children, but none of them were legitimate so he did not have an heir.

King Patrick sent spies throughout all Aradne to search for Quinara, and lo and behold they found both her and Jaedyn on the island of Rae. However, while they had been away from the castle Jaedyn and Quinara had organized a resistance against their father that spanned across all four of the Diahnian islands. The princesses refused to go back to their father, and this began a 20 year long war. Over the course of the war, Diana Marie grew up to be a responsible young woman, and her mother taught her everything she knew about ruling a kingdom. However, in the 18th year of war, Jaedyn and Quinara were both killed in battle, which left the islanders without a leader. Diana Marie rose as the new leader of the resistance, and under her and her father's leadership the islanders gained their freedom.

After the war was over, the islanders renamed Jaedyn as Jaedyn the Emancipator and recognized her as their first official president. However, since Jaedyn was dead she could not rule the islands. So, the islanders had an election and Diana Marie won in a landslide. From that day until now, Diahn has been a peaceful kingdom under the wise and benevolent leadership of President Diana Marie Morrow.
