Unique Forms of Policing

A common sight around government buildings are Military Police.
The 1st and 2nd MP regiments are tasked with regular urban patrols and guarding government establishments.
Rather than being a direct part of the Army they are in fact part of the civilian police force.
The term for Military Police is Government Protection Officers.
Although they do not handle investigations or arrests, they supplement armed police in times of crisis or in counter-terrorism operations.

Notable incidents:

July 4th shooting
A gunman in Trelic City entered a mall and opened fire on shoppers, killing three and injuring dozens. Two GPOs on foot killed the gunman before any more civilians could be harmed.

Haysfest bombing
A bombing occurred in the countries annual music festival, killing dozens and injuring hundreds. A manhunt that lasted 16 hours ended when an off duty GPO found the suspect in a cafe bathroom.

A GPO was killed in the line of duty while attempting to save an injured police officer, the officer had been shot in a house whilst responding to a home invasion. The GPO was in the area and answered the emergency call. Constable James Harrigan is honored in the country's Military Memorial each year.
