The economic history of Molcrossia has changed several times through history, it was commonly associated with a free-market capitalism, but it subsequently borrowed socialist politics of social welfare, until becoming a semi-centralized economy in the late 70s.

In 1984, the private sector was estimatied to constitute from 80.4% in 1957 to 30.9%. Nevertheless, the current government has opened its doors to a freer economy, constituting the private industry around 50% of economic general income.
