The Grey Wardens - A Carol for Christmas

A Commander delivers orders to the Choir in Libcord Abbey.

A carol to be sung by two groups. Traditionally, younger singers take the role of ‘Liberator’ and adults the role of ‘Officer’; in formal settings, the Officers are baritones and the Liberators tenors. In some regions, a Christmas pudding is served, and the person who finds a coin in their slice is ‘Goodkingwenceslas’, wearing a crown for the duration of the song.

All:
Goodkingwenceslas moved to
Artificial Solar System
while the switchers prepp'd about
and crossing was all even
Brightly shone the Libcord lights
though 'twas still midsummer
when defenders prepared to fight
with a mighty nu-uuuuuuu-mber.

Liberators:
"Hither, spotters, stand by me,
if thou knows't it, telling
from whence came this delegate
and which raid are we quelling?"
Officers:
"Sire, we may not tell thee yet,
lest the raiders listen.
'Tis somewhere on the internet
where the snow doth gli-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-sten."

Liberators:
"Bring me orders in due course,
bring me M key hither.
i shall this fine king endorse,
afore we bear them thither."
All:
Fendas and king forth they went,
forth in liberation,
with the orders duly sent,
moved in every na-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-tion.

Liberators:
"Sire, the trigger stretcheth out
and I fear banjection.
I pray our battle line not rout
and for our king's protection."
Officers:
"Mark the update, my good page,
it cometh 'pon our banners,
impotent was raider's rage,
for they could not ba-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-n us."

Liberators:
Goodkingwenceslas returned
to the throne of Yuletide
and the Advent candles burned
as bannings were applied.
