King's Infection Spreads to His Lungs

King's Infection Spreads to His Lungs
Saturday, 1 August 2020

By Birgit Schlosser; Translated from Fardelshufflesteinian

The latest update on the King's condition comes with harrowing news: the bacterial infection has spread from his bloodstream to his lungs.

This infection, which originated in the surgical site of the liver biopsy he had at the beginning of the week, is thought to have developed in part because of a weakened immunity. The King was already in a fragile medical state with stomach ulcers, a concussion, and cirrhosis of the liver, and has been deteriorating steadily since Friday.

He has been put on a ventilator and is in an induced coma; the infection of his lungs is believed to be connected to the fact that they were damaged in his early childhood from severe pneumonia.

Just two days ago, HRM was placed on the liver transplant list. Now, as his health continues to fail, many are preparing for his younger brother to assume control of the throne.

The entire nation of Western Fardelshufflestein is praying that HRM King Alastair IV will make a swift recovery. His family is to hold a vigil in his name 5 pm Sunday at New Hamletberg's cathedral; all are welcome to attend.
