The Gardener's Gazette, edition 2

🌹--The Gardener's Gazette--🌹

Welcome to the second edition of the The Gardener Gazette! This is a monthly newspaper that has the purpose of keeping both gardeners and guests informed on the current happenings within The Card Gardening Society! Be sure to read the articles below.

Garden Insight

Other than giveaways and contests (covered below), a lot has happened within the Gardens during July! Early on the month, administrator The unified missourtama states announced the arrival of a brand new emoji, honoring none other than the NationStates creator, Max Barry. Another technical addition was the arrival of Mimu, a Discord bot that is now tasked with, among other things, sending a welcome message to every new member and giving short answers to frequently-asked questions.

One incident between two gardeners is worth noting, where one of them would've lost bank had they not been watching their auction. Ultimately, because said auction was a bank transfer, it was pretty clear the Terms of the Society had been violated. Thus, a punishment was handed, though per the writer's decision it is best to not publish the involved members' names.

Fortunately, the rest of the month was pretty good for the gardeners. Many events were commented in the Gardens' Discord, such as the revelation of mysterious trader N00027 turning out to be Noahs Second Country in early July, the heated debate about changes in the Trading Cards Anti-Laundering System (TCALS), as well as changes in the card value and top decks leaderboards. Other non-card related topics were also frequent, including the issue of pizza toppings, in which various members defended or opposed pineapple on pizza - the writer's opinion is that said topping is a terrible idea.

Last but not least, it's important to note that Card Gardens gained several members over the month! Shout out to The Salaxalans, The Cosmic Mainframe, Virgolia, Antinios and End666, nations which decided to join our great society during last month.

Winners of Last Month

Here is a review of every nation that won a giveaway in July! Among new and old members, the luck was pretty even as no gardener got more than one win. Overall, a grand total of 9 giveaways happened this month, 5 of them being for Legendary cards and the other 4 for Epic card packages.

It was created at last month's edition, with gardeners being given a full month to develop and submit their collections, and now we're proud to announce the results! First, we had a total of 8 entries, with very different themes ranging from technology, rainbow, potatoes, and more.

At the end of the month, members of the Sub-Administrative Committee gathered to rank the collections and decide the winner! The judge team was composed by Destructive Government Economic System, Giovanniland, Noahs Second Country, The unified missourtama states and Recuecn, every member bringing their own opinion to the table. In the end, members presented their reasons for their collection rank, and then voted on the top two with the highest score! It was decided that... *drumroll*

The winner is The Cosmic Mainframe and their Computerwelt collection! Also, a honorable mention to Vylixan's Rainbow collection, that achieved second place in a close vote.

Congratulations to the winner! The legendary card Farnhamia will be sent shortly as the prize.

Now, onto the next Garden of the Month contest! First, a review of the rules:
1. Regardless of size and card rarity, we're accepting any and all collections, provided they follow Card Gardens and NS rules.
2. You can choose a collection you already have, or build one and submit later. Submissions are to be sent by Discord DM or telegram to Giovanniland, and will close on 23:59 UTC of Friday, 28th August.
3. The winner will win a shiny legendary card.
4. New rule: collections submitted for a previous contest can't be submitted again.

Pretty much the same, right? But there's a twist: we now have themed contests! This month's theme is Gardens, to celebrate the increasing number of members our society has been getting, as well as our overall success! This will be the first ever themed contest, and it is aimed to create even more activity. Now, start gardening to build your collection and hopefully win!

See you all next month for another Gardener's Gazette edition. Credits to Giovanniland for gathering data from giveaways and writing the newspaper! If you want to contribute to the society, apply to join the Sub-Administrative Committee, or donate cards to EpLeHo! Feel free to ping @administration on our Discord server for more details.
