Imperial Senate Building opens

VOCRYAE: There has been an eruption of regional pride throughout the Confederation following the unveiling of the new Imperial Senate Building (ISB) in Vocryae, Jocospor.

Disguised as an ongoing commercial project that began last year, the ISB was originally conceived as the Civil Congress Building by Jocospite architect Cammer Shang'in. Its designs were altered following the Congress's dissolution earlier in the year.

The ISB was opened by High-Direktor Doris Kohn before a crowd of thousands.

"A new Senate needs a new building," declared High-Direktor Kohn.

Since its formation in February 2020, the Imperial Senate has been housed within Confedereichstag II, the central capital building of the Confederation.

"The Confedereichstag II facilities are no longer appropriate," said High-Direktor Kohn.

"We are also aware that the Imperial Senate is an assembly of independent conscience to the Imperial Council and its Ministries. As such, a separate institution further displays the Confederation's commitment to unhindered, open government. My congratulations to Mr Shang'in and his team, who have created nothing short of a masterpiece."

The ISB joins Confedereichstag II and the Imperial Palace in Vocryae as one of the Confederation's grandest buildings. Its central room is the House of the Senate, a rotunda of monumental proportions with a seating capacity of 1,394. The ISB also contains 387 apartments. Regional senators will call their allocated quarters home while they remain active representatives to the Senate.

The Cabinet offices are also housed within the ISB. The President's grand suite overlooks Emperor Avenue, while the Vice-President has views towards the Park of Heroes.

A central entrance atrium, the Hall of Law, is also notable. Marble columns punctuate the walls, and the mosaic ceramic floor tiles depict possibly the largest practical map of Jocospor and her surrounding Confederation nations, including ShrewLlamaLand, Valerox, and several others.

A staff of approximately 3,400 clerks, secretaries, librarians, cooks, servants, and even soldiers will service the ISB. This military component is the 49th Imperial Legion "Blueguard", a personal gift from the Shadow Emperor himself.

"His Supreme Majesty is very pleased with this new complex," said High-Direktor Kohn, "and looks forward to the Senate's increased prosperity in return."

It is expected that the Imperial Senate will gradually transition from Confedereichstag II into the ISB over the next week, but not before the conclusion of IS#15, which has generated some tension amongst senatorial factions. The vote will be called in 28 hours.
