Protected species in velaland

Orange monkey
velaland is the last nation in Europe with native primates. The orange monkey is the fastest primate in the world being able to go 31 miles per hour. During the Ancient Greek period these moneys where often eaten. This didn’t drive them to extinction because they where hard to catch and only eaten by the wealthy. However in the 19th century they almost went extinct due to there prized fur that was valuable for the cloth and carpet industry. Velaland banned hunting them in 1921. However poachers still make clothes and carpets out of there fur and sell. Today there’s only 1,345 left.

Bear hyena

this hyena is native to velaland. It’s as big as a bear. It first developed during the ice age and survived after it. The ancient Greeks and the soso often hunted these hyenas. This caused a major decline but eventually it halted. But the population never recovered to its pre human population. However with the invention of guns it’s started to be hunted to near extinction. Now there’s only 128 left
