Europe, 1965

LinkIt's all gone to hell...

Die Waffen, Legt an!

Europe, 1965.

Greetings, Commander. It is the year 1965, and the situation in Europe is not looking too great. As of now, it is divided into Three-no, Four Factions, with three vying for control of all of Europe, alors attachez votre ceinture, cette guerre va être quelque chose. But before I talk about the factions, I need to talk about the continent we wander in, it's... une coquille de son ancien moi, une grande ruine, détruite par notre propre colère. I don't know much about what goes on outside of our territories, but I do know a few things that I might have to share with you, mon ami.

The factions are currently in an active war with each other. There's still some fighting everywhere else in Europe and the world, I heard that the Americans were fighting the Canadians or something along those lines based on radio reports. And Japan's still kicking, somehow. I wonder how that's going to go for them. But over here in Europe? Things have gotten... worse, I should say. In Spain, the two factions settled on a temporary ceasefire to find out what the hell happened, it lasted for about 15 years before Franco and his gang of idiots broke it, probably looking at an opportunity to strike their most hated enemy. The Republic.

In Germany, the situation is bad. The nation is split between three sides, the Axis South, the Allied West, and the Soviet East. The nation is a battleground where everyone's vying for control over the nation. The Volksrepublik in the south is, unfortunately, still alive and kicking. Something which I absolutely despise. The Federal Republic to the West is falling back and regrouping on its ass, and the Democratic Republic to the east is also regrouping on its ass. It's a shame that the nation is divided... but I couldn't care less for the fragmented remains of Germany, so there's that.

As you can probably see, you'll notice that the three factions have distinct colors, but ours? The KTO? We have three colors, one representing the... more liberal nation of Vigo, one representing the Soviet state of Kaliningrad, and one representing the accelerated France. Oh, and speaking of the factions, I suppose it is time I finally talk about them. You see the gray? That's the Axis. A bloated war machine destined to fail, the blue is the Allies, a battered but standing war machine, and the red is the Soviet Internationale, formed to centralize the will of a single man.

The Allied Nations (German: Alliierte Nationen, French: Nations Alliées) is a semi-presidential intergovernmental military established in 1932 as a response to the increasing South German and Soviet aggression across Europe. The Allied Nations is considered by its members to be the last bastion against Drexlerianism and Communism. Originally established as the European Strategic Alliance, the ESA was restructured into the Allied Nations in 1937 as the world soon geared for a war, a war that they expected would change the world as they knew it.

The Allied Nations was established in 1 June 1932 as the ESA, hoping to prevent a war, the ESA sought to negotiate with the Comintern and South Germany in an attempt to demilitarize and de-escalate the situation. However, this did not go as planned. The Axis and Comintern refused to settle down and instead opted to continue militarizing against each other. Numerous times, the Allied Nations tried to talk the two down, but just like all the other times, this did not work, and left the world with two factions who wanted to kill the other faction in the most horrible way possible. So, seeing as there was no alternative, the ESA militarized as well, forming its armed forces, the Eurocorps, in order to defend itself against aggression from East and South.

In 1937, as Europe gradually became a continent of dictators and stratocrats, the ESA and the Eurocorps were restructured into the Allied Nations and the United Allied Armies respectively, their new objective being the protection of the free world's interests. In 1938, the Allied Nations accepted several non-European nations into its wing; these include the United States, Canada, and France. The AN would find itself receiving massive American support as the threat of war slowly became real, especially in Germany, which was on the brink of sparking another world war.

In 1939, the Allied Nations would send forces to the Spanish Civil War, which started in 1936 and since then has not ended. They sent a division comprising of 6,000 men and 4 MCVs, alongside 100 MBTs to support the Republican forces in order to prevent a Drexlerianist-aligned state from taking hold next to Europe's doorstep. Alongside their support of the Republicans, the Allied Nations began to fortify their positions further as it became apparent yet again that South Germany and its friends were not going to allow themselves to be talked down.

The Soviet Internationale

Communist Intergovernmental Military Alliance

Moscow, USSR

The Soviet Internationale (Russian: Советский Интернационал, German: Sowjetische Internationale) is a one-party international communist organization established in 1953 after the Comintern's collapse during the Apocalypse in 1951. The Sovintern was established as a result of the revelation to the USSR that the Allies and Axis were still alive as factions. It is officially a successor to the Comintern, so its history shall be listed here as well. The Sovintern are among the three factions vying for control of Europe, and due to their 'duty' to eradicate the oppressive yokes of capitalism and drexlerianism, they refuse to negotiate, and they officially do not recognize the Kaliningrad 'separatists'.

The Sovintern's predecessor, the Comintern, known as the Third International, was formed in 1919 by Vladimir as a result of the Second International's failure to topple the oppressive yoke of capitalism alongside the divide of the Left-Wing ideology between centrists, reformists, and revolutionaries. The Third International's actions during the Russian Civil War inspired many other revolutionaries in Europe to start their own socialist and anti-colonialist revolution. Many of these failed due to the European governments violently shutting them down with military force and many other factors, such as division. Though the Comintern did find success in the East regions.

In 1925, the Comintern, alongside many other countries including the United States and Western Europe, experienced a surge in scientific and technological discoveries. The Comintern began developing technologies such as bullet-resistant vests, cybernetics, and guided missile systems. The Comintern's technological advancement was of interest by West Europe, who began their own technological and scientific advancements. The Comintern enjoyed a relatively peaceful period from 1926-1929. In the 1930s, the Comintern's leader, the USSR, began to rapidly expand into Eastern Europe. Without firing a single shot, much of East Europe was taken, including the German province of East Prussia. From thereon the Comintern, like its other competitors, would begin rapid militarization.

During the year of 1936, the Spanish Civil War was in full swing as rebel forces led by the right-wing staged a coup against the left-wing government. The Comintern were the first to support the Republican military in repelling the right-wing Nationals from Spain. In 1939, the Allied Nations and USSR would temporarily set aside their resentment in Spain in order to support the Republicans as both sides did not want a fascist dictatorship at Europe's doorstep. Though outside of Spain, the Comintern and AN would still continue fortifying their borders against each other and the newly-formed Axis.
