MACRON ORDERS ADDITIONAL TROOPS TO ASSIST IN CONGO WAR
President Emmanuel Macron is finally weighing in on Africa's longest war by expanding France's commitments and sending additional troops.

PARIS — OCTOBER 2026

The 3rd Congo War has taken a turn in recent months as new equipment adds to new blood on the fields in the war torn nation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Since the start of the largely ethnic based conflict in 2003, the Republic of France has played a silent role in arming and training the Congo Federal Army while also working with the Central African Federation as a whole and the Rwandan Defense Forces. For the last 13 years, blood has been shed and countless lives have been lost with very little gain to show for it by any side in the conflict. With new weaponry and new proxies being added to the mix, President Macron has ordered the rapid deployment of additional troops to the area.

With France already having 4,000 troops in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, President Macron intends to deploy an additional 31,000 which will largely be there on a temporary mission to build 3 new airbases in Kinshasa, Goma, and Bujumbura (Burundi). The airbases will serve as the core for what Macron has called "a war from the air" in which French forces will bomb anti-Kinshasa militants and anti-Rwandan militants along with groups like the HACA, Katanga Liberation Front, and Kasai Independence Front. The United Kingdom has also answered the call and will be joining with forces of their own as British and French troops plan to work side by side.

Minister of Defense Florence Parly had the following remarks on the issue:

The war in the Congo has quickly deteriorated in recent months with new proxies popping up and militant groups like the HACA, Katanga Liberation Front, and Kasai Independence Front are growing stronger with new equipment. It is time for France to own up to our commitments which we have made to our partners including the Congo Federal Army and Central African Federation. President Macron's increasing readiness and order to deploy additional troops to the Central African region is fully backed by the Ministry of Defense.

With the arrival of the 31,000 additional French troops, some of which are trained and skilled engineers which will construct the 3 massive airbases in Kinshasa, Goma, and Bujumbura (Burundi); these reinforcements will also bring vital supplies of food and water for themselves and mainly the struggling civilian population. Where the UN has failed, France and the United Kingdom will pick up the slack. New armaments for the bogged down forces of the Congo Federal Army and Rwandan Defense Forces will also be arriving along with the increased French and British presence.
