Foreign Policy

Pacifism and persuasion over aggression and extortion

Suceavija is largely a pacifist nation bound by its own strict rules on mutual international conduct. A goal of the government is to improve living and environmental conditions for all people abroad to not only maintain or improve the quality of current and future life, but to challenge the nation to always be pursuing a better tomorrow than today through which to provide a living example of a great society for the rest of the world to model.

No raiding allowed

Offensive raiding activities are considered an affront to our cherished democratic values of self-governance, freedom of existence, and freedom from oppression; therefore the government will never take part in offensive raiding activities nor support them on the international level. The government will almost always side with the interests of the sovereignty of regions in the WA Security Council.

Fair trade over free trade

Fair trade agreements with other nations are the desired outcomes of trade policy, though the government will always favor the interests of domestic businesses and pursue that which is in the interests of the nation and its own people over those of its trading partners; protectionism is the preferred and default trade policy. Limitations on this bias include imposing standards or demands on foreign governments, products/services or conduct that are more stringent than what is or would be considered acceptable on a domestic level. Free trade agreements are only conditionally pursued with nations that offer the same or better level of civil and political rights, quality and standards on products/services, quality of life for its citizens, and foreign policy initiatives as Suceavija.

All trade with nations unwilling or unable to provide equal standards on product/service quality, safety, working conditions, labor relations, civil and political rights, and living conditions as those provided within Suceavija is subject to corrective tariffs. These tariffs are structured so as to reflect the true costs of the imported goods and services based on the quality of life in Suceavija and to provide an equal opportunity for domestic businesses to compete to meet the needs of domestic consumers. Revenues from these tariffs may only be used for foreign policy initiatives and reinvestment in those goods and services whose quality and standards were the baseline to generate the revenue in the first place.

Cunning diplomacy over military force

Formal diplomacy alone is the purview of the government to resolve all international disputes and to manipulate desired changes in other nations.

The government is forbidden to use war, threats of force, terrorism or other violent actions to achieve foreign policy initiatives.

Currency manipulation is a permissible tactic to gain or maintain leverage in global markets and to favor the economic interests of the nation in trade negotiations.

Foreign aid may be used as leverage to gain favorable trade agreements and to manipulate desired changes within or deter undesirable actions by other nations.

Accountability and liabilities of visitors to Suceavija

Any and all damages caused or unpaid costs incurred by foreigners (whether due to unpaid healthcare, incarceration, public misconduct, or any other expenses temporarily absorbed by the state on their behalf) within Suceavija are either billed directly to their respective governments or incorporated as substantiated write-downs in trade agreements with those governments.
