The Susarian-Cuissar War, lasting from 1860 to 1864, was a conflict between the Kingdom of Greater Sus and the Cuissar Pirates.

Prior to the conflict, lobbying efforts were made to curb pirate interference with Susarian business. This was particularly urgent following the end of the Civil War and the onset of reconstruction.

The conflict began when Greater Sus lodged complaints against the Cuissar Pirates for attacking unarmed Susarian Merchant Ships during the Civil War. The pirates exploited the nation's turmoil for profit, capitalizing on the Susarian Navy's temporary inactivity despite its technological advancements. However, their attacks were limited to the Open Seas as Land-based Fortifications prevented direct assaults or landing attempts
On one Hand, Greater Sus viewed the war as a complete diplomatic and Military disaster which for a while ruined the Susarian Navies International Reputation. On the other Hand, while the Cuissar Pirates saw it as a Huge Success as it had managed to garner one last victory before Their Time came to a end. The Cuissar Pirates had known that they were on borrowed Time and had to end the War as quickly as possible.

King Umberto II and III both seized the War as an opportunity to promote funding for the Susarian Navy, which had been largely inactive due to the Civil War draining manpower. However, mismanagement and an overestimation of their sailors' capabilities led to internal crisis. Taking advantage of this situation, the heir to the throne, King Umberto III, orchestrated an assassination to further his own ambitions.

Summary and Events of the War

During the war, the Susarian Navy remained largely inactive, as the mainland focused on launching dry-docked ships for the war effort. Initially, around 10 to 20 ships were launched, with only a slight increase throughout the conflict, totaling around 35 ships at war's end.

However, the exact number of ships commandeered by pirates remained unknown, as they often disguised themselves by sailing the flags of other Nations. This allowed many of the pirates Ships to approach Susarian ships very closely without being detected, allowing them to launch volleys into the Susarian Ships Sides or alternatively attempting to board them, which was

For most people, the war was uneventful, but not entirely unnoticed. The general public of Greater Sus was aware of the situation but lacked understanding of naval combat. The current Holder of the Throne aggravated the populace by not achieving constant victories, fueling anger, cultivated by the then heir to the Throne.

The war's cost pushed the public to seek negotiation, fearing skyrocketing bread prices reminiscent of the Civil War's onset. Thus, they tolerated the pirates' actions to a degree, as long as demands weren't excessive. The Cuissar, facing setbacks, also sought a swift end to the conflict, realizing their inability to influence Susarian progress.

Despite King Umberto II's desire to eliminate the pirates permanently, the Susarian Navy struggled significantly, leading to frustration tempered by exhaustion from the Civil War. Eventually, popular support compelled King Umberto II to accept peace terms, resulting in a mild treaty due to both sides' limited influence.

The treaty required exchanges of prisoners of war and a yearly payment of roughly 35,000 Kreste to prevent raids on Susarian merchants. This arrangement persisted for six years until the Cuissar Pirates mysteriously departed, coinciding with King Umberto II's assassination and the ascension of King Umberto III to the throne, and as such, the Treaty was de facto nullified.

Although Modern Historians agree that this was purely coincidence, it still has led to quite a few Conspiracies about King Umberto III having worked with the Pirates by feeding them Intel. This Stance could be seen mostly seen in the Susarian Media which had a spike of Stories about him after Umberto III died.
