Tyria, officially known as the Royal Federation of His Majesty's Tyr States and Amarkhvan is a landlocked, isolationist nation located in west-central Trica. It is considered a federal union consisting of 9 countries, the federal capital being Miresočkar. It borders Chyrak and Kurzakstan to the north, Aldal to the east and the collective nations under 3077 in the west and south. Tyria consists mainly of savannahs, flat arable land, hills and plateaus. Several rivers flow through the entire nation, including the Ikarian, Chesiki, and Berudrean rivers, allowing for the farming industry to prosper in Tyria. The Koleki Mountain Range to the east of Tyria separates the country of Amarkhvan from the rest of the nation. Due to Amarkhvan's isolation from the rest of Tyria, it has been the spark of many uprisings and separatist movements in the state, thus it being an autonomous country. Amarkhvan accounts for nearly a third of Tyria's population, making it the most populous country in the whole nation. Three out of the ten largest cities in the nation hail from Amarkhvan.

Etymology

The name 'Tyria' mainly originates from the words 'terir akapsi', meaning 'flat grassland' in ancient Khīvan. Over time, 'terir akapsi' was shortened to 'terir' and the word took on a new meaning, to refer to the land of Tyria. 'Terir' was then loaned over into Old English, being transliterated to 'Teīr' and showing up in the Gemæne Hæthenræden, literally 'collective history'. 'Teīr' then transformed into 'Tyrr', the last 'r' dropping centuries later, forming the modern-day demonym of Tyria, 'Tyr'. The people who spoke English soon applied the -ia suffix to the demonym, forming Tyria. It can be therefore concluded that Tyria means 'Land of the Tyr'.

History

The first traces of written-down history about Tyria or any land relating to it can be dated back to the year 1217 when the Gemæne Hæthenræden, a book that can be considered a reliable source of ancient history about the Tyr lands and its neighbours, detailed about the feudal Naiivan Republic, an ethnically Dorbakhi nation that controlled much of modern-day western Tyria. It dominated much of the Tyr lands and even managed to expand eastward, past the Koleki mountains and conquering parts of modern-day Aldal. However, due to internal power struggles and the First Peasant Revolt of 1243, the Naiivan Republic collapsed and a power struggle ensued, with numerous small republics and duchies forming, all vying for the throne as the Unifier of Tyria, or Teīrr, as they called it back then.

The power struggle would not last long, however, for a foreign empire would come to conquer the Tyr lands. The Kingdom of Getrothe, a kingdom descendant from the Lionsroarian Confederation, would successfully conquer all of the tiny republics and duchies that were spread out across Tyria. The Tyr peoples were no longer free at this point. The Getrothean Kingdom would proceed to suppress the rights of the Tyr peoples and they would be considered as inferior to the Getrotheans. They would continue to be suppressed as the owner of Tyr land would change hands several times. Life was miserable for the Tyr people as they were akin to robots and slaves rather than living, human beings. Numerous people would advocate for reforms and allowing the Tyr people to live better lives, but they were all shut down soon after forming. As famous Tyr slave and poet Mathul Esprisio put it, "It was a hellish dystopia that you could never escape from."

On the 25th of May 1602, nearly 400 years since Tyr lands were first conquered by foreign empires, the Euxean Uprising, also sometimes called the Second Peasant Revolt, occurred. It was the turning point in Tyr history, where over a hundred thousand slaves gathered with their tools and formed a rebellion. The rebellion was highly successful, with the Tyr peoples managing to establish the Duchy of Fygolan. Through the slow collapse of the empire that controlled Tyr lands before the Euxean Revolt, the Gherinian Empire, Fygolan managed to declare itself a kingdom and liberate several other Tyr-dominated regions under the control of the Gherinians, those being Ehgrola, Hurstev, Cakkele, Birbak, Pirubak and Barsogla. Ehgrola, Hurstev and Cakkele are currently situated in modern-day Fygolan, while Birbak and Pirubak are located in modern-day Barsogla. The several states remained separate for roughly a decade until the Gherinian Empire's successor - the Reneč Empire - launched an attack on several of the smaller states, initiating the union between all of the disjointed states. The Reneč Empire was soon fought off and internal squabbles began to grow within the union, causing its breakup only a year after the war against the Reneč ended. Since the Tyr states became disjointed once more, the Reneč Empire managed to conquer the Tyr states and reassert control over the land, treating the Tyr peoples more harshly than before.

Three hundred more years passed, with the Tyr peoples still under heavy suppression by foreign empires. Tyr Land switched hands multiple times, but after three hundred years, Tyr Land came under the control of an extended territory of the Lionsroarian Confederation, known colloquially as the Pyrian Territory. This was in the period wherein the slow decline of the Confederation was apparent and its collapse was imminent. Upon the Murder of Meridiamsburg occurring on the 29th of March 1911, the collapse of the Confederation was in full swing and the Pyrian Territory soon collapsed a few days after the collapse of the Confederation. With the territory's collapse, numerous Tyr duchies, states and republics sprung up with the absence of control. Compared to the rest of the Pyrian Territory - and to a certain extent, the Lionsroarian Confederation - the Tyr states were much less anarchic and there was much more peace, mainly because of the sense of unity by past struggles and the lack of need for imperialism. The Tyr states began collaboration with each other, and the prominent duchies of Fygolan, Esterin and Barsogla were the pioneers of technology, spearheading the industrial revolution in Tyria. Meanwhile, the several small duchies on the other side of the Koleki mountains - including Amarkhvan and Buresell - attempted trade through the mountains, leading to the creation of several trails winding through the mountains to connect them to the rest of the Tyria, which was experiencing massive technological and economic booms. During what could be considered the Golden Age of Tyria, the Tyr Confederacy formed, uniting all of the small duchies, states and republics together under one name - Tyria. Amarkhvan, Buresell and the other duchies and republics on the east of the Koleki mountains joined the Confederacy at a later date.

By the time the Second Democratic Republic of Lionsroar had coalesced, the Tyr Confederacy had morphed into the First Royal Tyr Federation, making Tyria a federal absolute monarchy. The several kings that ruled Tyria ruled with an even hand, maintaining Tyria's prosperous and peaceful status. It would not last long, however, for when the eighth king of Tyria - King Berabbel II - came to the throne, he ruled in a completely contradictory manner to all the previous kings of Tyria. He ruled with an iron fist, holding absolute power in the whole nation and shutting down foreign relations in totality with the rest of the outside world. He ordered a massive increase in the number of people in the army, assisted by mandatory recruitment of males into the army to permanently man the external borders of the Federation. The Dark Ages of Tyria had begun, and it would only let up when King Berabbel II finally passed away, marking the end of his fifty-year reign. The next king after King Berabbel - King Herron I - immediately decreased the number of men manning the border, agreeing that isolationism was not the way, but the defence of the borders was critical. He also let go of most of the King's powers, making the position of King only constitutional, and the power was held in Parliament, also known as the Feirgrann. Each administrative district of Tyria was also granted more freedoms, being granted the status of country and letting them have numerous liberties. Modern-day Tyria differs heavily from the authoritarian regime that it was thirty years ago, with the nation being slightly more fragmented due to each country forming its own identity and the country of Amarkhvan gaining the status of autonomous country, allowing the country to tear down its section of the external border and open up small-time but illegal trade with the neighbouring nation of Aldal. Most of the nation has modernised as well, on top of the fact that the farming industry in Tyria is still active and thriving.
