Ethensia, officially the United Federal Commonwealth of Ethensia, is an island country situated in the Northern Vowesi region in Coyphus. A federal constitutional monarchy, it consists of 7 self-governing states: Jandura, Abutakia, Buroda, Tunouth, Viola, Maybel, and Northern Ethensia. Federal elections are held every 6 years on the 1st of March. Ethensia is most commonly known for it's landscape, rich history, and culture. It is a member of the ANVN (Association of Northern Vowesi Nations), along with many others. It's current Prime Minister is Antonio Galvez and it's current Burodan monarch is Queen Marlia II. Ethensia is bounded by the West Ocean, the East Ocean, and the Strait of Vowes to the south. It shares maritime borders with Radnor, Sta'atua, The Blue Islands, Alka, Vendilia, and Kaola. It has diverse ethnicities and culture. Carlton Capitol is the country's capital (in the Carlton Capitol District), and it's most populated city is the Greater Carlton Capitol Area (in Jandura).

Burodans, the island's earliest inhabitants, were followed by waves of Vowesi peoples. The adoption of animism, Hinduism with Buddhist influence, and Islam established kingdoms ruled by datus and sultans. Extensive overseas trade with neighbors such as the late Alka-Komba empire brought Alkan people to the island as well, which would also gradually settle in and intermix over the centuries. The arrival of Mathon Lucklas in 1657 marked the beginning of Radnorian colonisation. Until 1810, the newly discovered land would be referred to as "New Radnoria", until the name "Ethensia" would start to gain popularity. Christianity became the dominant religion in the west, while Islam introduced by Alkan immigrants remained a major religion in the east. Carlton Capitol became the hub of trade between the Norlandic and Vowesi continents. The Ethensian revolution began in 1885 and became entwined with the Radnorian-Norlandic war. Radnor ceded the territory to Norland, and Ethensian revolutionaries declared independence on the 23rd of August, 1896. The ensuing Ethenso-Norlandic war ended with Norland controlling the territory until the Razhdahni occupation during the Great Coyphusian War. After Norland retook the land from the Razhdahnis, Ethensia became independent in 1957. Since then, the country has gone through various political reforms, including the Monarchist coups, martial law, and most recently, the Ethensian civil war.

History
The first recorded presence of civilisation in Ethensia was in 6 BC, when cave art was found in a small forest just on the coast of Tunouth. It is believed that they arrived by land before Ethensia detached from the Vowesi continent. People migrated from both sides, so there was a big difference in culture between the west and the east. Stone tools and fossils of butchered animal remains discovered in Kemyi, Abutakia are evidence of human presence as early as 709,000 years ago. Researchers found 57 stone tools near rhinoceros bones bearing cut marks and some bones smashed open, suggesting that the early humans consumed the nutrient-rich marrow. A 2023 study dated the age of fossilized remains of Homo rehinedsis of Ahou at about 134,000 years.

Also known to a lesser extent as the Pre-Ethensia period, is a pre-unification period characterized by many independent states known as polities each with its own history, cultures, chieftains, and governments distinct from each other. According to sources from Western Brakich (in modern day Alka), people from the kingdom of Mohretia in present-day Vendilia were wearing cotton clothes made in Ahou, Ethensia as early as 516–520 CE. The Norlandic Historian Nicholas Westray citing Cathrabusi chronicler Mo Habtet, had written that in the early years of the 800s, the kingdoms of Mohretia and Beyhatyata waged war against the Royal Komba Dynasty.
By the 1300s, a number of the large coastal settlements had emerged as trading centers, and became the focal point of societal changes. Politics during this era was personality-driven and organization was based on shifting alliances and contested loyalties set in a backdrop of constant inter-polity interactions, both through war and peace. As the 15th century began, many of the local settlements and kingdoms united, the most notable being the Kingdom of Buroda and the Abutaki Sultanate.

Colonisation Period
Ethensia was first discovered by colonisers in 1657, a month after the crash of a Radnorian warship on the coast of Suamen, while other Radnorian ships searched for the wreckage due to the vessel containing valuable goods and weapons. A rescue expedition around the site led by Radnorian explorer Mathon Lucklas sighted Suamen but anchored off Baglhasa on July 16, 1657. They landed the next day on Surrengia, now part of Surrengia City, Eastern Jandura. Lucklas claimed the lands he saw for Radnor and named them New Radnoria. He established friendly relations with some of the local leaders and converted some of them to Christianity. However, Lucklas was killed during the battle of Veyset against the local warrior, Dirān Mobo. Radnorians would launch a counterattack the next year, and over the next several decades, more and more Radnorian expeditions would be dispatched to the island until official settlement began in 1698. The discovery of gold and other resources encouraged more Radnorians to stay, repelling any other coloniser from settling on the land. In 1706, the whole island of Ethensia would come under Radnorian control, with the dissolution of the Burodan Monarch and the Abutaki Sultanate's defeat. The island as a whole would continue to be called New Radnoria until 1810, with the name "Ethensia"'s rise to popularity in an attempt to unite the Burodan and Abutaki cultures by Radnor to lower the amount of conflict on the two's former border.

The Ethensian Revolution
Revolutionary sentiments arose in 1872 after the Ahou Massacre, involving the deaths of 200+ Ethensians after a group of 35 men stormed a Radnorian Military Base and killed 12 soldiers to protest the unfair treatment towards Native Ethensians. This would inspire propaganda movements throughout Ethensia withthe goal of reforms, and eventually, independence. Jake Mosīl, the most celebrated intellectual and radical ilustrado of the era, wrote the novels "NAME" and "NAME", which greatly inspired the movement for independence. The NAME, a secret society whose primary purpose was that of overthrowing Radnorian rule in Ethensia, was founded by Bigraya Mai who became its supreme leader.
The Ethensian Revolution began in 1885 on the 17th of January. Mosīl was wrongly implicated in the outbreak of the revolution and executed for treason in the same year. The NAME first took control of Narville, a city northeast of Carlton Capitol, before it expanded to other parts of Ethensia such as in Maybel, Viola, Buroda and Tunouth, with the society splitting into separate branches of command. At this same time there was a war being fought on another nearby island slightly bigger than Ethensia, with Radnor attempting to gain more land in the region, expanding their colony of Obolistan before their defeat in 1896. Alongside the Ethensians, Norlandic soldiers fought against the Radnorians, not to support independence, but because of the rich minerals and oil in Ethensia. The treaty of New Salverick, signed on the 12th of September, 1896, seized Radnor's control over Ethensia, however the purchase was made with Norland paying $20M to the Radnorian government, as well as taking control over 50% of Obolistan's territory and seizing the strategic port of Brodaston. Just a few weeks before that, on the 23rd of August, 1896, Ethensian independence was proclaimed, aiming to be a complete monarchy, and leadership over Ethensia was in fact given to Bigraya Mai, who was secretly part of the royal family who had continued to live as normal citizens. This decision caused unrest in Abutakia (then called Eastern Ethensia), as the royal family would be situated in Samigbayo, the capital of Buroda. After this day, the monarchy was reintroduced, however only for a short time, officially ending in 1911.

Norlandic Occupation
Neither Norland or Radnor recognised Ethensian independence. Hostilities broke out on September 13, 1896, after two Norlandic privates killed three Ethensian soldiers as Norlandic forces launched a major attack in Bridgestown, a Carlton Capitol suburb. This began the Ethenso–Norlandic War, which cost far more money and took far more lives than the Radnorian–Norlandic War. Some 124,100 Norlandic soldiers would be committed to the conflict; 4,523 Norlandics died, as did 12,000–20,000 Ethensian soldiers who were part of a nationwide guerrilla movement of at least 80,000 to 100,000 soldiers.

The general population, caught between Norlandics and rebels, suffered significantly. At least 200,000 Ethensian civilians died as an indirect result of the war mostly as a result of the cholera epidemic at the war's end that took between 150,000 and 200,000 lives. Atrocities were committed by both sides. The poorly equipped Ethensian troops were easily overpowered by Norlandic troops in open combat, but they were formidable opponents in guerrilla warfare. Notable battles were attacks like the Siege of Mikibaya (2/1/1897), Battle of Carlton Capitol, where the government fled to Samigbayo (17/4/1900), Battle of Maybel River (29/8/1907) and the Siege of Samigbayo (8/2/1911). The monarch was captured and sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole after the Norlandic victory, capturing Samigbayo and officially ending the war on the 14th of February, 1911, while some guerilla fighters were said to continue to open fire against their enemy until 1915. While in prison, Bigraya (known as Bigraya I) showed little to no opinion on the war whatsoever. He died in 1921 following a heart attack.

The Norlandic people humiliated the Ethensians, with the complete ban of Ethensian flags, banners, and the national anthem. This was repealed in 1921 after Bigraya I's death, and in 1925, Ethensians were granted complete Norlandic citizenship. This led to the persuasion for independence by Ethensian politician Kyi Tam Hu'nh, who gained enough trust and support by both the government and the populace and the belief that Ethensia could be ready for future independence.
In 1929, the Commonwealth of Ethensia was founded, granting an autonomous government while still being part of Norland, with Hu'nh being the president. It was decided that in 1951, Ethensia will be granted full independence. This was halted by the Great Coyphusian War.

The Great Coyphusian War
The Great Coyphusian War began in 1949 after the Razhdah Empire suddenly invaded Warpona, an ally of Radnor, the Kingdom of Alka, and NAME. In August 1951, Ethensia was invaded by the Razhdah Empire, effectively declaring war on Norland. Razhdah's goal was to seize Carlton Capitol to use as a launch point to reach other smaller islands in order to pressure Norland to end it's support for Warpona's allies. Razhdah was also short in natural resources such as oil, gas, and rubber, so it aimed to expand it's territories to acquire resources and make living space for it's population. They first launched a surprise attack on Centirisa Air Base in Tunouth, followed by landing of ground troops on Centirisa's coast. The defending Ethensian and Norlandic troops were under the command of General Thomas Bush. Under the pressure of superior numbers, the defending forces withdrew to Darcarthur and other surrounding cities. On January 17, 1952, General Bush declared the capital city, Carlton Capitol, an open city to prevent its destruction. The Ethensian defense continued until the final surrender of Norlandic-Ethensian forces on the Tunouth-Northern Ethensia border in April 1953 and on Pansy in May of the same year. In June 1952, the entirety of the Ethensian Island was under Razhdah control. President Hu'nh had accompanied the troops to Pansy and later left for the Norland, where they set up a government in exile. Bush was ordered to Radnor, where he started to plan for a return to Ethensia.

The Razhdahni military authorities immediately began organizing a new government structure in Ethensia and established the Ethensian Executive Commission. They initially organized a Council of State, through which they directed civil affairs until October 1953, when Razhdah declared Ethensia an independent kingdom under the Burodan Monarch since Norlandic government had promised independence of Ethensia in 1951. The Razhdahni-sponsored kingdom headed by King Mabela I proved to be unpopular. From mid-1954 through early-1955, Razhdahni occupation of Ethensia was opposed by large-scale underground and guerrilla activity. The Ethensian Army, as well as remnants of the Norlandic Army Forces, continued to fight the Razhdahni in a guerrilla war and was considered an auxiliary unit of the Norlandic Army. Supplies and encouragement were provided by Norlandic Navy submarines and a few parachute drops. For the invading empire, Ethensia was the bloodiest theatre in the war with close to 500,000 Razhdahni troops killed in fighting during the defense and guerilla activities of Ethensian forces.

The return of the Norlandics in Late June 1955 was welcomed by nearly all the Ethensians. The collaborationist "Kingdom of Ethensia" set up by the Razhdahni under Mabela I, was highly unpopular, and the extreme destructiveness of the Razhdahni Army in Carlton Capitol in its last days solidified Razhdah's image as a permanent target of hate. The pre-war Commonwealth system was reestablished under Kyi Tam Hu'nh, who became president until his assassination in 1959. On the 23rd of August, 1957, Ethensia was recognised as an independent country as the Federal Republic of Ethensia.

Federal Republic of Ethensia and the Monarchist coups
With the creation of the Federal Republic, the monarch was abolished, which angered many Burodans who wanted to keep the traditional monarchy system in place. In December 1957, the Monarchist Front was created, a political society led by Bigraya Mai Jr., the son of Bigraya I, aiming to forcefully bring back Burodan traditions into the country. The movement was little known at first, but by early 1958 the support for the Monarchist Front grew rapidly while other Ethensian politicians, including Kyi Tam Hu'nh himself dismissed the movement. This proved to be fateful as on the 14th of August 1959, members of the Monarchist Front stormed the Parliament Building as protests led by pro-monarchist activists evolved into riots. During the raid, President Kyi Tam Hu'nh was shot in the neck by NAME, and the government fell into collapse. Bigraya II proclaimed himself as king and declared that the capital be moved to Samigbayo. The newly founded United Coyphusian Nations ruled the coup as illegal, but were eventually pressured by Bigraya II to accept it. During this time, many ethnic Abutakians were enraged as the abolishment of the Federal Republic meant that the Abutakians would not get as much recognition due to the long standing tension between Burodans and Abutakians, and the monarch being focused on Samigbayo, the capital of Buroda.

With the establishment of the New Kingdom of Ethensia, the Carlton Capitol District was dismissed and the city eventually became the capital of the state of Jandura. Many of Bigraya II's political opponents fled from the country, seeking political asylum in countries like Radnor, Minia and Norland. Those who stayed were reportedly arrested and never seen again. In the following years until 1968, Bigraya II ruled over Ethensia until his death in February 1968 due to cancer. His 23 year old daughter Emilia rose to the throne as Emilia I, and many Ethensians in favour of a democratic system met at Samigbayo to protest the absolute monarchy. Protests soon erupted into riots and eventually people were killed when the military was authorised to use force. This became known as the Samigbayo massacre, with around 20 people killed including a young girl who was not actively participating in the protests, but rather, walking home from school. This enraged more Ethensians, who continued to protest until Emilia's surrender. Emilia I was flown to Carlton Capitol, where the treaty of Carlton was signed by her and former members of the Ethensian Labor party, the ruling party before the coups. Under the terms of that treaty, the monarch of Buroda would be allowed to stay in place but only as a decorative symbol. Over the next few days, the capital was once again Carlton Capitol, and the district was restored. The country became a constitutional monarchy and Arik Melbo was elected as Prime Minister. In 1969, a democratic system in Ethensia was fully established.

During this time, the ideology of Abutakian Nationalism rose, especially during the 20th century monarchist era and the attempt by the New Kingdom of Ethensia to displace Abutakians from their homes. Protests were organised in cities like Eastern Valley and Arrack, two majority Abutakian cities, but the amount of protests gradually died down due to martial law being declared in the state of Eastern Ethensia (now Abutakia).

Arik Melbo was elected as the first Prime Minister of Ethensia, and various political parties were established, the most powerful and notable being the Labor and Liberal parties. A list of Ethensia's prime ministers can be found in the Politics section. (OOC: if there are any mistakes in this section, i dont know much about real politics. this is all fictional)

Administration of Arik Melbo (1969-1971)
Elections were held in April 1969, with Arik Melbo becoming the first Prime Minister of the United Federal Commonwealth of Ethensia. The Ethensian economy remained highly dependent on Norlandic markets—more dependent than any single Norlandic state was dependent on the rest of the country. The Ethensian Trade Act, passed as a precondition for receiving war rehabilitation grants from Norland, exacerbated the dependency with provisions further tying the economies of the two countries. A military assistance pact was signed in 1970 granting Norland a 99-year lease on designated military bases in the country.

Melbo did not stay long in office, dying of a stroke soon after a speech at Inner Carlton Air Base on April 21, 1971. He was succeeded by his vice president Tanuyma Balar.

Administration of Tanuyma Balar (1971-1976)
The Melbo administration granted general amnesty to those who had collaborated with the Razhdahni in the Great Coyphusian War, except for those who had committed violent crimes. Melbo died suddenly of a stroke in April 1971, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Tanuyma Balar, was elevated to the PM position. He ran for Prime Minister in his own right in 1972, defeating NAME and winning a four-year term.

The Great Coyphusian War had left Ethensia demoralized and severely damaged. The task of reconstruction was complicated by the activities of the Communist-supported Etly guerrillas, who had evolved into a violent resistance force against the new Ethensian government. Government policy towards the Etlys alternated between gestures of negotiation and harsh suppression. Secretary of Defense Keman Miquila initiated a campaign to defeat the insurgents militarily and at the same time win popular support for the government. The Etly movement had waned in the early 1970s, finally ending with the unconditional surrender of Etly leader Simon Eazbi in May 1973.

Administration of Richard James (1976-1982)
As Prime Minister, he was a close friend and supporter of Norland and a vocal spokesman against communism. He led the foundation of the North Veyon Treaty Organization, also known as the Carlton Capitol Pact of 1977, that aimed to defeat communist movements in North-Central Veyon.

During his term, he made the Parliament Building literally a "house of the people", opening its gates to the public. One example of his integrity followed a demonstration flight aboard a new plane belonging to the Ethensian Air Force (EAF): President James asked what the operating costs per hour were for that type of aircraft, then wrote a personal check to the EAF, covering the cost of his flight. He restored the people's trust in the military and in the government.

James' administration was considered one of the cleanest and most corruption-free in modern Ethensian history, often unofficially cited as a "hero" by various members of the Ethensian public. Trade and industry flourished, and the Ethensian military was at it's prime. His death in the sinking of the ENFS Valor I in January 21 1982 heavily devastated Ethensian morale.

Administration of Logespo Midoli (1982-1988)
After the events of January 21 1982, Deputy Prime Minister Logespo Midoli took office until the federal elections March 1, the fixed date for Ethensian federal elections. However, Logespo Midoli would end up serving longer as he ended up winning the elections. His administration emphasized the nationalist theme of "Ethensian first", arguing that the Ethensian people should be given the chances to improve the country's economy. While successfully negotiating Norland's relinquishment of military land reservations, his administration lost popularity on issues of government corruption as his term advanced.

Administration of Tumina Pisak'da (1988-1994)
In the federal elections held on March 1, 1994, Tumina Pisak'da defeated re-electionist Prime Minister Logespo Midoli. She was Ethensia's first and only female Prime Minister as of now.

Administration of Alexander Markado (1994-2012)
Piska'da ran for re-election in 1994, but was defeated by her former party-mate, Senate Alexander Markado, who had switched to the Nationalist Party. Early in his term, Markado initiated public works projects and intensified tax collection. Due to his popularity among Christians and Burodans, Markado was re-elected as Prime Minister in 2000, become the first prime minister to get a second term. Violence in Eastern Ethensia continued as Abutakian Nationalism rose, and protests surged across the country.

Amid the growing popularity of the opposition, Markado declared martial law on July 28, 2001 to stifle dissent. Markado curtailed press freedom and other civil liberties, closed down major media establishments, and ordered the arrest of opposition leaders and militant activists. Protestors, students, and activists were forced to go into exile, and a number of them were killed. The human rights abuses primarily targeted political opponents, student activists, journalists, religious workers, and others who fought back against the administration.
Some 1,431 of the 3,011 murder victims were tortured and mutilated before their bodies were dumped in various places for the public to discover – a tactic meant to sow fear among the public. Martial law was officially lifted in 2006, but Markado would be killed the next year on February 27 in the events of a civilian military uprising. Elections were held on the 1st of March that same year.

Administration of Peter McLarren (2007-2012)
Peter McLarren immediately formed an emergency government to try stabilizing the country's situation, creating a new temporary transitional constitution. A new permanent constitution would later be ratified and enacted in July 2007. The constitution crippled federal power to declare martial law and proposed the creation of autonomous regions in the The Blue Islands, Numrora, and Abutakian Eastern Ethensia. McLarren's administration was seen as weak and fractious, and a return to full political stability and economic development was hampered by several attempted coups staged by disaffected members of the Ethensian military.

On the 7th of July 2009, The Blue Islands officially gained independence under the McLarren administration. Numrora, a territory of Ethensia in the southern hemisphere, would be granted independence that same year on the 12th of September.
Administration of Jos Soketo (2012-2018)
Early in his administration, Soketo declared "national reconciliation" his highest priority and worked at building a coalition to overcome the divisiveness of the McLarren years. He legalized the Communist Party and laid the groundwork for talks with communist insurgents, Abutakian separatists, and military rebels, attempting to convince them to cease their armed activities against the government.
Soketo eventually moved on to farm life, declaring that he would not run for a second term.
Administration of Nelson Chamelegar (2018-January 2024) and the Ethensian Civil War
In 2018, Nelson Chamelegar won the federal elections by a landslide. At the time, the Deputy Prime Minister was Antonio Galvez. Nelson Chamelegar had promised to wipe out crime in six months, and many of the crimes happening in Ethensia at the time were in the state of Abutakia by extremists and separatists. Under Chamelegar's first 100 days, the government launched a 24-hour complaint office accessible to the public through a nationwide hotline, 1188. Nelson Chamelegar was unpopular in Abutakia due to his pro-Burodan plans for Ethensia and his orders to intensify the presence of police and military in various parts of Abutakia. Following clashes between the Ethensian Armed Forces and Abutakians in Mulperra City, Chamelegar declared a 90 day martial law period in the state of Abutakia and threatened to abolish the Abutakian Autonomous Region, while talks about restoring slight powers to the Burodan Monarch started to gain popularity. A series of unrest between the Chamelegar Government and Abutakian separatists would later lead to the beginning of the Ethensian Civil War.
The Ethensian Civil War (2020-2024)
Protests started to emerge in several Abutakian cities, with the goals of getting Nelson Chamelegar out of power and restoring the Abutakian Autonomous Region, which had been formally abolished on the 27th of December, 2019. These protests were met with harsh resistance from the Ethensian Military Forces, who had used rubber bullets and water cannons against the protesting crowd. A secret revolutionary group named the Abutakian Liberation Front (much like the NAME in the Ethensian Revolution), was formed by Akav Maknul, and quickly gained support throughout Eastern Ethensia and the former Abutakian Autonomous Region. Eventually, rumours spread about the ALF, and many Abutakians feared of Ethensian intervention before any action could be carried out. The ALF were able to easily mobilise and acquire weapons due to members of the police and military forces joining the cause, and the poor funding of police in the region. On the 21st of March, 2020, the Ethensian Civil War officially began starting with the Cry of Arrack. An insurgent government was formed and chaos erupted in Arrack, with revolutionaries storming government buildings in the city, setting fire to various buildings and replacing Ethensian flags with Abutakian ones. As news spread of the event, the Ethensian Armed Forces attempted to de-escalate the situation, but it only resulted in more violence. The revolutionaries opened fire on the Ethensian military and killed around 24 men, who returned fire right after. At the end of everything, over 70 Ethensians, including 46 civilians, were killed. Martial law was declared in the area, but the government was no longer in proper control of the city. Arrack was proclaimed as the capital of the new Republic of Abutakia, and Akav Maknul was declared as the first president of the Republic. The Ethensian Military Forces were heavily criticised for the handling of the situation, and how they allowed Arrack to fall into separatist hands. New travel advisories were issued, with countries like Norland and Radnor advising tourists not to travel to Eastern Ethensia. Various other communities of cities and towns revolted against the Ethensian government, pledging allegiance to the new Republic of Abutakia. After just a 2 month period of stalemate between the Ethensian Military Forces and Abutakian rebels, the Abutakians launched an offensive aiming to capture territory up to the Abutakia River, though the ALF had only around 30,000 to 400,000 men. Despite this, the EMF failed to prevent further expansion, bringing more humiliation to the Ethensian Military Forces. By this time, the Abutakians had already controlled territory up to the Abutakia River, more than half of the state of Abutakia. Terrorist attacks linked to the ALF happened in other states, especially in Buroda and the Greater Carlton Capitol areas in Jandura. These attacks continued while a stalemate occured at the border, both sides fighting with little or no land gain from either side. The stalemate continued until May 2021, when the Ethensian Military Forces finally advanced past the Northern Abutakia River Delta up to the small town of Galroy. Galroy then became one of the most heavily fortified towns

Government (WIP)
OUTDATED, I THINK?: Ethensia, while officially being a constitutional monarchy, is classified more as a republic. The Government of Ethensia is democratic with elections for the Prime Minister every six years. Ethensia has diplomatic relations with all countries on Coyphus as well as some outside of the planet. The Prime Minister appoints and presides over the cabinet and officials of various national government agencies and institutions.  The bicameral Congress is composed of the Senate (the upper house, with members elected to a four-year term) and the House of Representatives, the lower house, with members elected to a three-year term.
Senators are elected at-large, and representatives are elected from legislative districts and party lists. Judicial authority is vested in the Supreme Court, composed of a chief justice and fourteen associate justices, who are appointed by the president from nominations submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council. A founding and active member of the United Coyphusian Nations, Ethensia has been a non-permanent member of the Security Council. The country participates in peacekeeping missions, particularly in South Warpona. Ethensia is a founding and active member of ANVN (Association of Northern Vowesi Nations) and a member of the North Vowesi Summit, and the Group of 17. Over 10 million Ethensians live and work in over 11 countries, giving Ethensia soft power.

Economy (WIP)
OUTDATED: Ethensia is one of Coyphus' richest nations due to strategic ways of trade and the production of various military weapons, civilian aircraft, and many products used by most of Coyphus. Fishing industries are among the most popular jobs contributing to economy in Ethensia. After the Great Coyphusian War, Ethensian economy struggled until the introduction of democracy in 1977, and when Ethensia became more open to international trade. The mineral only found in Ethensia, Sabyerite, is mostly used for weapon production and other things, because of it's rarity and quick formation. Sale of Sabyerite has boosted Ethensia's economy greatly.
Weapon production is also an important factor. In 2015, Ethensia rose to 6th place in the top ten richest nations in Coyphus, shortly after the E7 Sabyerite rifle was introduced. This rifle could shoot bullets straight (straightshot), scattered (scattershot), and even launch an explosive bullet (dragonshot). Other shells are also used, such as those for flares, smoke, and even fireworks. In 2022, the ZTA-17 Nightcat fighter jet was introduced and sold well, making Ethensia rise to 5th place in economy before eventually moving down to 6th again as the civil war and attempted government coup got worse.
