Introduction

Changjo, officially The Royal Federation of Changjo (RFC) is a sovereign state consisting of the European continent, parts of North America, North East and North West Africa. It is one of the world's most populous countries, with a population of over 23.6 billion people. The RFC is a Federal Monarchy currently ruled by His Royal Highness King Tristan I (Tristian Lysander Thijs Kjeldsen) and governed by the popular Federal Unionist Party of Changjo led by prime Minister Isak Valtersen. Its seat of government resides in the capital megacity of Fjellstad. It exercises central control over the 8 Federal Administrative Regions that make up the country.

The Royal Federation of Changjo is one of the world's largest countries by land area or total area, depending on the method of measurement. Changjo's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from tundra and icy plains in the East and North, vast grasslands in the West and desert in the South. The country has vast sea and ocean territories with a predominantly land locked Eastern border.

Changjo was formed by the unification of Europe as well as several Middle Eastern states following World War Three (2008-2012). Following the war a series of super blocks were formed on the basis of cultural similarity, these super blocks began to lay the foundation for the rebuilding of Europe. These European super blocks however quickly began to face turbulent times as the old problems of power and territory arose. Following a range of internal conflicts and power struggles for control of the continent the people took control to formulate the notion of the world's first truly unified super-state.

On 27 December 2017 referendums were held across these new powers on the formation of a new European super-state, to unify the people of Europe in which all could live in freedom, the overwhelming support of people led to the formation of the Royal Federation. This federation would respect the cultures, religions and languages of its constituent states and would become a world leader in freedom and prosperity.

Post-war the country has rapidly recovered and developed in to a thriving and powerful nation. The economy is fueled by a large quantities of natural resources both at land and at sea as well as it's large agricultural and industrial capabilities. This in turn has led the nation in to considerable post-war wealth and subsequently to the establishment of one of the worlds largest and well equipped armed forces which defend the nation with tenacity at home and abroad.

The Government itself, now a beacon of democracy makes little interference with the private lives of citizens and enshrines certain rights in law under Article 2 of the Constitution of the Federation. See: Article 2 of the Constitution of the Royal Federation of Changjo

History

The history of Changjo stretches back to some of the first ancient civilizations of it's predecessor states across continental Europe, Eurasia, North East and North West Africa. These civilizations flourished and made great technical and cultural impressions upon the world.

In 2008 the conflict between the Russian Federation and Georgia escalated in to a global war. An attack on a French outpost which was alleged to have been involved in assisting Georgian rebels by Russian forces led to retaliation from France and its NATO allies. With conflict ensuing neighbouring states took this opportunity to seize territories previously lost to bordering states. During this third global war, millions of people were killed, nations and governments fell and the boundaries of nationstates were re-drawn. Following the war the people of Europe sort reconciliation, fearing further war people across Europe raised revolution gaining popular support amongst the populace and military forces. Forming a Unified People's Army (UPA) Governments began to fall in a series of bloody and bloodless coups across Europe. New alliances and borders were drawn and new progressive governments based on common cultural values were created. In the North and West of Europe the Western European Union was formed. In the central Europe, the East European alliance in the South Israel and the Suez League of Nations and in the East the New Russian Federation.

In 2015 the New Russian Federation, now greatly reduced in size with the Siberian Republic in the far East and China encroaching in to the South sought to bolster its lands and take back parts of Europe it had lost. The Western powers in their weakened state would be able to do little in the event of a Russian invasion and so to counter this emerging threat the East European Alliance, Western European Alliance, Israel and Suez League formed a mutual defense coalition. Whilst this coalition stalled Russian invasion attempts the alliance secretly began supporting resistance and subversive elements in Moscow. This would ultimately erupt in the Norvsk Incident of March 2016 which led to the mass execution of hundreds of protestors, what would follow was an un-paralleled people's revolution supported by alliance military support which would ultimately lead to the retreat of the Russian Government Eastwards within three months.

Following the collapse there were further calls for unity across the continent to protect against further war and to pool resources decimated in the war. In the South oil and fuels were still being produced however due to huge infrastructure damage were unable to expediently rebuild industry. Fallout from nearby Georgia where the war had began along with years of droughts meant that food could not be produced to sustain the populace. In the North and West water and food could be prepared in abundance along with technological supplies, however they lacked access to suitable and sustainable fuels. Many in the South died from starvation and in the North from the icy climates of winter Europe. In a call for unity to create a hegemonies European superstate free from outside threats a series of Referendums were held across the remaining superblocks and on 27 December 2017 voters overwhelmingly supported a unification of Europe and the Federation was formed. The name Changjo was selected from hundreds of possibilities with its fitting meaning 'to create in harmony.'

Over the next few year a series of political events, referendums and campaigns would set the baseline of this new European superpower as food, fuel, supplies and people travelled freely across the continent. As a vast conglomerate of people from different backgrounds and cultures fractures, some from existing prejudices and ideas and some new began to appear. The people looked towards the nine monarchies of the Federation in the former Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Morocco and Jordan. These monarchies having largely survived the war led their people through the conflict of the last few years and whose popularity as a unifying cause became to be respected the world over. With many of these joined through matrimony and political union the people sought a Head of State without bias, who would represent all of Europe's people transcending politics, in a referendum the people voted 89% in favour to become the Royal Federation of Changjo with the Norwegian-Dutch house of Kjeldsen at its head.
