The Alliance Party is a progressive party and the first political party in Aesica, which seeks to help the region grow and develop into a place that is open to all nations.
Domestic Policy
Endorsement Citizenship: The Alliance Party supports an easy-to-obtain citizenship structure where all nations endorsing the Delegate are citizens, and non-WA members can become citizens by applying to the Delegate for a waiver. We oppose all methods that will make it harder for all citizens to vote equally as our voting and citizenship system is already robust enough to protect from tampering without trampling over civil rights.
Party Recognition: The Alliance Party opposes a cap on the number of recognised political parties and believes that membership requirements to be officially recognised must remain low, although should be raised from two citizens to four citizens, as the requirement for independents to run is four whereas the requirement for parties to run is two, so this should be equalised.
Expansion of Congress: The Alliance Party will hold a consultation on expanding Congress from a 7-5 format to a 9-7 format, increasing the number of total seats by four to increase representation.
Positions Restrictions: The Alliance Party supports preventing people gaining a monopoly on power by restricting the Delegate from serving in Congress, preventing the Chief Justice from serving in other positions, and preventing Associate Justices from serving as Ministers. We also support a long-term restriction of the Speaker and Chairperson on serving as Ministers or on the Court.
Consecutive Term Limits: The Alliance Party would support a three-term consecutive limit (12 months) on the Delegate once there are enough members to fill the positions.
Immigration: The Alliance Party supports the creation of new manual recruitment campaigns to employ manual recruiters in order to bring new nations to Aesica.
Congressional Recall: The Alliance Party will introduce a citizens-led recall procedure, where one-third of those who voted for a Representative or Senator, or are in their party-of-election, may initiate a regional recall referenda against them to remove them from office. We oppose antidemocratic processes to allow party leaders to unilaterally remove a member from Congress without a public vote.
Inactivity Protection: The Alliance Party will introduce an inactivity provision where if a Member of Congress misses four consecutive votes in their chamber, they are excluded from all quorum requirements until they vote two consecutive times, in order to prevent inactive gridlock.
Citizen's Petitions: The Alliance Party will introduce a mechanism where, by a petition signed by five citizens, a bill can be forced onto the floor of a Chamber of Congress for full debate and subsequent voting as soon as possible, to allow citizens to ensure that Congress addresses the issues that matter to them.
Chancellors & Secretaries: The Alliance Party will repeal LR 005 Office Establishment Act, and replace it with new legislation to allow the government to freely create Chancelleries with a Senate confirmation vote and RO powers, and Secretaries underneath Ministries, to enable the executive to govern with the mandate they have won at the election.
Congressional Ministers: The Alliance Party supports allowing Ministers to serve in both chambers of Congress in order to allow Congress to be filled with the most skilled nation to produce the best legislation, but opposes Ministers serving as Chamber Leader except when necessary in order to reduce burnout.
Leave of Absence: The Alliance Party supports the creation of a Leave of Absence system where members of Congress may declare up to 7 days as a leave of absence, where they may nominate a citizen to serve as a temporary stand-in for them during this time, with voting powers.
Foreign Policy
Diplomatic Corps: The Alliance Party supports the creation of a light Diplomatic Corps to allow citizens to represent Aesica worldwide and maintain our friendships with our embassy regions.
Interregional Diplomacy: The Alliance Party supports Aesica becoming invested in interregional alliances and partnerships in order to gain new friendships but only as long as regions are either democratic or have a good history with Aesica..
Merger Agreements: The Alliance Party supports merger agreements as long as they are into and benefit Aesica.
Raiding and Defending: The Alliance Party supports Aesica remaining independent in raiding and defending and opposes a military at least until Aesica is significantly larger to support one.
WA Office: The Alliance Party will pass a law creating a permanent Secretary of World Assembly Affairs, under the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, who organises and publishes the results of advisory votes on each WA Resolution for the Delegate, as well as has the power to publish Information for Voters to give official recommendations on WA Resolutions.
Legal Policy
Supreme Court: The Alliance Party supports the current system of Justices appointed by the Delegate and confirmed by a majority vote in the Senate, and believes that the one-member per-party limitation is a sufficient stopgap against a partisan court.
Due Process: The Alliance Party believes that all citizens must be entitled to due process and that no citizens should be ejected by the Government without a fair trial.
Bar Association: The Alliance Party will create a new Bar Association to provide a direct pathway into the legal realm and judiciary for interested nations, in order to provide a qualification for future judicial nominees.
Cultural and Roleplay Policy
Game Nights: The Alliance Party supports running game nights every month to play games such as Paradox games but also free to play games easily available on Discord. We also support scaling up existing programs to make them more engaging for nations.
Lore Development: The Alliance Party supports writing down a full backstory lore for the roleplay so that nations can get involved easily.
Roleplay Chancellor: The Alliance Party will codify the position of Chancellor of Roleplay Affairs, under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, ensuring the RP is continuous regardless of the government of the day. The RP Chancellor will be appointed by the Delegate for an indefinite term, and is responsible for running the main Roleplay, and may only be removed by a 3/5ths majority in both Chambers of Congress with the Delegate's signature, or by a petition signed by 5 active RPers, followed by a referenda within the RP Community.
Aesica Gazette: The Alliance Party supports continuing the Aesica Gazette news organisation that anyone can join to publish news to the region as well as write opinion pieces.
Regulating Newspapers: The Alliance Party supports regulating news organisations so that there are editorial standards which ensure accountability and truthful reporting.
Regional Polling: The Alliance Party supports efforts to ensure that there is always some kind of a regional poll running on the Aesica regional page in order to foster activity and engagement with the RMB Community.
Party Constitution
Section I - There shall be one Party Chairman, who shall be the frontfacing leader of the party and will be responsible for all administration of the party. They may determine the party's strategy, and govern the leadership of the party, including any aspect of the party's relations with other parties. It is their responsibility to manage members, including admissions, and explusions with consent of the party council.
Subsection I - Party council members are immune from explusion whilst they are serving.
Section II - The Party Chairman shall be elected following the conclusion of each General Election by party vote. All members are eligible to be candidates.
Section III - The Party Council is an elected council of thre party members. Party members vote on the council members at the same time as the Chairmna. The Chairman, Councillors, and serving party members in public office, shall be given access to the party's leadership channels.
Section IV - The party selects its election candidates by means of internal primary. All party members may run as candidates; the chairman may reject candidates for any reason with a majority vote of the Council.
Section V - All party-wide votes for candidates or internal seats shall be conducted via borda-count; if there are five options, a first choice vote shall be worth five points, a second choice vote worth four points, and so on.
Subsection I - In case of a tie, the party member receiving the most first choice votes shall win, then by second choice, third choice, et cetera. If there is still a tie after all choices are exhausted, the sitting Party Chairman shall break the tie.
Section VI - There will be a Party Commissioner who will be responsible for running all internal votes and elections; they shall be appointed by the chairman; they may be removed by unanimous vote of the council members; they do not need to be a member of the party.
Section VII - The party constitution and/or manifesto may be amended by:
a petition for a specific change, signed by 20% of the party's registered members, followed by a three-fifths vote of all party members to ratify the change,
a party convention called by the chairman, where numerous changes may be proposed by all members, each ratified by a three-fifths vote and taking effect simultaneously,
Section VIII - The chairman or any indiviudal councillor may be removed by a petition signed by 25% of the party's registered members, followed by a three-ffiths majority vote by all party members.
Section IX - The party may change its name, acronym, colour, or logo, through a proposal from the chairman with assent of a unanimity of councillors, followed by a three-fifths majority vote by all party members. The party may agree to dissolve or merge the party into another by a proposal from the chairman with assent of a unanimity of councillors, followed by a unanimous vote by all party members. Proposals to merge another party into Alliance without changing the name, acronym, colour, or logo, shall be decided by the standard party constitution amendment provision.
Section X - For matters not otherwise stated, the party council may override the chairman by unanimous vote. Matters that require the chairman to obtain permission from the councillors require at least 2 serving council members to be submitted for vote.
The Citizens' Party of Aesica (CIT) is a centrist party that prioritizes the needs of the Aesican public first. With progressive leaning domestic beliefs and more conservative interregional policies, our aim is to shape an Aesica where the common citizen is prioritized over outsiders.
DOMESTIC POLICY
Citizenship: The Citizens’ Party supports a system of delegate endorsement citizenship whereas a nation qualifies as a citizen so long as they are actively endorsing the WA delegate or have qualified through Aesica’s waiver program. The Citizens’ party is opposed to any and all restrictions on citizenship beyond this, as further restrictions alienate new or prospective nations.
Independent Branches of Government: The Citizens’ Party supports a democratic republic system with three independent branches of government - an executive branch led by a delegate elected by the people - responsible for the day to day affairs of the people - a legislative branch responsible for lawmaking - and a judicial branch responsible for interpreting the laws of Aesica in a nonpartisan capacity.
Freedom of Affiliation: The Citizens’ Party supports no limit to the number of political parties able to be created within Aesica, nor any increase to the required number of members per party, believing that it is the right of the people to support a region that is in their best interest in all capacities.
Congress:The Citizens’ Party supports an expansion of the House of Representatives by two (2) seats to a total of nine (9) to more accurately represent the citizens, as the population of the region has grown since the prior chamber sizes were implemented. The party does not, however, believe in the expansion of the Senate, believing that the limited number of Senate seats will ensure thorough selection and vetting by parties pertaining to whom they nominate for the chamber.
Positional Capacity: The Citizens’ Party supports a limit on each citizen of Aesica to two (2) governmental positions at any given time, however no citizen can serve in more than one (1) elected position. The second position must be of a ministerial, deputy, or secretarial nature.
Public Referendums: The Citizens’ Party supports the use of public referendums in cases where legal changes would directly impact the lawmakers who would normally vote on such bills, on in the case of how Aesica is presented to the greater NationStates community. This would include, but is not limited to - public vote on the expansion of the chambers of legislature by two (2) seats each; public vote on the use of tags such as capitalist or socialist to advertise Aesica; public vote on any interregional alliances Aesica considers joining, requiring a ⅔ majority - These referendums would create opportunities for citizens of Aesica to engage in their regional government even if they are not elected to a position, as well as allow self-determination for the people.
Term Limits: The Citizens’ Party supports limits of four (4) consecutive terms for any elected role in government, allowing opportunities for a range of citizens to participate in the regional government. Ministers, Secretaries, and Deputies would be exempt from this as appointed positions, selected based on merit rather than election.
Petitions: The Citizens’ Party supports the right of Aesican citizens to petition congress to deliberate and vote on motions or laws, requiring congress to prioritize the needs of citizens.
Congressional Accountability: The Citizens’ Party supports a system of accountability for congress, delegates, and justices to ensure they make rulings based on the established laws, rights, and expectations of Aesica. This would include impeachment/recall votes by a ⅔ majority in the chamber initiating the vote and a simple majority in the other chamber. In the case of Judiciary, this process would occur under the condition a justice fails to maintain nonpartisanship, and in the case of congress or delegates, this would occur under the conditions of abuse of power or positional negligence.
Ministerial Accountability: The Citizens’ Party supports a system where, should ministers fail to perform the essential functions of their role and maintain a functioning region, they are subject to a removal vote consisting of ⅔ majority in the senate.
Electee and Party Protection: The Citizens’ Party supports a system where elected officials have a protected right to their Senate or House seat for the duration of their elected term, that political parties cannot remove their elected officials and replace them without their consent. At the same time, however, the Citizens’ Party supports the requirement that an elected official must remain with the Political Party through which they were elected for the duration of their term. Should an official choose to leave their party during their term, the party reserves the right to remove them from the party’s rightfully elected seat and replace them with the member who was next listed on their election order for that senate or house seat.
Transparency: The Citizens’ party supports the right to transparency for the people and believes that all governmental votes, debates, cases, and orders must be publicly accessible and cannot be deleted or hidden from the public, and that this should be codified into law.
FOREIGN POLICY
Recruitment Reform: The Citizens’ Party supports the establishment of a Deputy Minister of Recruitment, serving under the Minister of Domestic Affairs, who will ensure that recruitment quotas are met and to whom all recruiters will report to. Individual quotas for recruiters will also be set to ensure recruitment efforts do not waiver or fall by the wayside.
Interregional Affairs: The Citizens’ Party supports the establishment of a vetting system before engaging in embassy creation with other regions and a public referendum when considering interregional alliances to ensure protection from raids or regions looking to poach citizens. The party also supports prioritizing smaller and growing regions with our diplomatic affairs to ensure the region is not minimized by larger powers.
Military: The Citizens’ Party is supports the abstention from creating a military force, believing that the presence of one encourages interregional involvement where unnecessary and where unsafe for the betterment of Aesica.
Mergers:The Citizen’s Party supports abstention from all mergers, excepting cases where other, smaller sized regions are dissolving into Aesica, adapting to Aesica's system and culture for operating as a region.
Raids and Defense: The Citizens’ Party Supports the abstention from raids and defensive engagement, as there is no clear way in which these support the majority of Aesican citizens at this time.
LEGAL POLICY
Judicial System: The Citizens’ Party supports a 3 justice system with no limit on justice affiliation with political parties, that instead justices should be held to nonpartisanship through the accountability system outlined in Domestic Policy. Judges should be limited to one per political party, however, as a failsafe to help ensure nonpartisanship. As well, Judges should be appointed by the delegate, with a simple majority senate vote to approve the appointment.
Trial Reform: The Citizens’ Party supports an expedited and prioritized process for the starting dates of criminal trials, ensuring they get underway in a timely manner, for the safety and protection of citizens afflicted by unlawful acts. The actual trials themselves should not be rushed, as all citizens should receive a fair trial, only the start date and prioritization in the order of court cases the court takes on should expedite when these trials begin.
Bill of Rights: The Citizens’ Party supports recognizing the Bill of Rights (Legislative Policy II: Civil Liberties Act) as those upon which all governments must evaluate the legitimacy of their work.
CULTURAL POLICY
Event Reform: The Citizens’ Party supports the development of regional events such as the Hunger Games, the World Cup, and other events, by developing a more consistent, regular schedule in which they are done on Discord. This would potentially include a rotation of one event a week, allowing for a regular rotation of activities for citizens to get involved. The Citizens party also supports working to develop ideas and concepts for how events like these can also be integrated into the RMB for more on site engagement.
RMB Poll Usage: The Citizens’ Party supports the use of the poll feature on NationStates not only to conduct official regional business like votes, but also to engage citizens in fun icebreakers and questions, regularly allowing RMB specific nations to have another way to stay involved with the region.
Freedom of Press: The Citizens’ party supports complete freedom of press, dictating that there should be no restrictions to who can report or post, understanding that news entities are responsible for their own fact checking and editing. Should a citizen violate the rights of Aesica by spreading harmful misinformation or using their platform to project hate speech, discrimination, violent rhetoric, etc., they will be subject to the standard legal consequences within Aesica, banishment. As well, The Citizens’ party supports developing incentives for citizens to combat misinformation as a whole.
Census: The Citizens’ Party supports the implementation of a census to be conducted two times a year. This would help the region maintain information and statistics including, but not limited to, active community members, political party affiliation, roleplay activity, and would allow citizens to provide feedback to improve Aesica.
Integration Deputy:The Citizens’ Party supports having a Deputy under the Domestic Affairs Minister responsible for welcoming new members and giving them a rundown of the region, including - but not limited to - the general information about the RP setting and world layout so the new citizens can make informed map claims, a basic introduction to the regional government system and political parties. This deputy may also have aides under them to help provide this information when new citizens arrive based on who is online, as written and developed by the deputy.
Order of Aesica: The Citizens’ party supports creating a new honor called the Order of Aesica, akin to the Order of the British Empire or the Presidential Medal of Freedom, designed to be given to citizens who have contributed in extraordinary or remarkable ways to the betterment of Aesica. Recipients would be determined by a committee consisting of the Delegate and Vice Delegate, to be given out to one nation every four months.
MEMBERSHIP

Democratic Socialists (DSC) is the region’s progressive left political party, advocating for a large, democratic government rooted in citizen participation, transparency, and equality of chances, based in the principles of democratic socialism. We believe that the people of Aesica should collectively shape the region’s political, cultural, and social future through active engagement.
LEGISLATIVE POLICY
Citizenship: DSC endorses automatic citizenship for all World Assembly nations residing in Aesica. For non-WA nations, we support limited waiver-based citizenship granted at the discretion of the Delegate.
Judiciary: We support the democratic election of members of the judiciary, ensuring the courts remain accountable to the citizens of the region rather than to political elites.
Government Oversight: DSC strives for more scrutiny of the Executive, be it through the enabling of citizen petitions compelling it to answer questions, or through the legislature via special sessions such as "Questions to the Government".
Democratic Representation: DSC is indifferent towards the number of chambers the legislature presents. So long as all ideological viewpoints are represented within it through proportional representation, whether it is through one chamber of over a dozen members or two one-digit member count chambers, the result is believed to be the same. We however are open to ideas that increase ordinary citizens roles in regional decision making.
Presidential Republic: DSC supports the continuation of a democratic presidential republic in which the Delegate leads the executive government while the legislature retains the authority to legislate and oversee executive actions. While the matter of separating the Delegate seat from its status as Head of State is one the party does not hold a position over as of now.
Seats Belong to the People: We believe parliamentary seats belong to the voting citizenry. May an elected Representative or Senator resign, or even simply change party and therefore betray the choice voters made, we believe an election must be triggered to replace them. We naturally are not closed to exceptions, such as preventing elections too close to a previous or incoming one to combat voter fatigue.
Political Parties Deregulation: We oppose unnecessary restrictions on the formation of political parties. A healthy democracy requires ideological diversity, and new parties should remain free to organise and participate in elections. To this effect, we wish to remove the legal necessity for a party to present a chairman, which we believe antithetical to our party's belief of horizontal leadership, which DSC follows in its own internal organisation.
Term Limits: We support strict term limits for all elected offices to prevent excessive concentration of power and to encourage regular political renewal within the region.
Separation of Offices: To prevent excessive concentration of authority, we support reasonable restrictions on holding multiple major government positions simultaneously, particularly between the executive, judiciary, and legislative leadership.
EXECUTIVE DOMESTIC POLICY
Government Transparency: DSC wishes for the Government to release weekly or biweekly reports on its activities on what it has done, what is currently doing, and is planning on doing in the coming period to keep citizens informed and invite them to take part.
Open Government Recruitment: Executive ministries should actively advertise opportunities for citizens to participate in government work and efforts must be made to equate the interest in keeping the community growing and running as the one to take part in political or nation roleplay.
Open Ministerial Candidacies: DSC supports opening ministerial and government positions to public candidacy. Citizens interested in serving should be able to put themselves forward and present their ideas for how they would contribute to the region.
Citizen Participation in Governance: The executive should delegate as much routine work as possible to the community where applicable. The roles of @WA Welcomer and @Welcomer on Discord with the bot automation are good implementations of this policy which should be pushed further. Government work can be inconsistent and tiring, where community involvement in the same can be successfully turned into a social routine relieving civil servants of such burden while increasing social cohesion at the same time.
Expansion of Regional Technology: DSC supports developing and expanding technological tools that make governance easier and more accessible. In effect DSC supports the creation of a ministry specifically dedicated to this task to ensure the creation of a roadmap and continuous oversight.
Clear Government Structure: The executive should maintain publicly and easily accessible lists of government roles, ministries, and available civil servants positions. Documents capable of quickly explaining what the executive does and needs in its operations are a necessity to quickly onboard newcomers.
Accessible Government Information: The government should ensure that important information, including laws, policies, government programs, and official announcements, remains easily accessible and organised so that both new and long-time citizens can quickly understand how the region operates.
EXECUTIVE FOREIGN POLICY
Military Creation: DSC rejects military expansionism. Any regional military structure should exist solely as a limited defensive militia to safeguard the security of Aesica.
Defender Alignment: We recognise that a regional military may exist in spite of the party's position on the matter. We therefore argue the alignment of this prospective force, and the region of Aesica as a whole, to be defender only.
Interregional Relations: We approach alliances with purpose and intent. While we are not opposed to treaties or cooperation with other regions, we believe such agreements should only occur after meaningful diplomatic relationships have already been established.
Diplomatic Engagement: DSC supports the development of a diplomatic corps composed of volunteer citizens representing Aesica abroad. However otherwise volunteered to be taken over by a diplomat, these tasks must always remain that of the Minister tasked with Foreign Affairs.
Interregional Collaboration: We support participation in community events and interregional initiatives that encourage positive engagement across NationStates, provided these activities do not compromise the region’s sovereignty or values.
Against Regional Mergers: DSC stands against regional mergers. We believe users who wish to join Aesica will do so naturally, not through the absorption of their home which we believe to be pillaging. Or, if a region wants to be closer to us, that is a purpose better served by an alliance.
CULTURAL AND ROLEPLAY POLICY
Large Events: DSC supports the holding of periodic large events such as the Aesica Cup, Hunger Games, the short-form roleplays like Diplomacy 1918 and others. We believe these longer but contained events are an easy way for most of the community to engage together in activities of their liking without being impeded by timezones more than the next point.
Small Events: We support regular community game nights , including Discord games, Jackbox, karaoke, and other accessible multiplayer titles. We however recognise the inconsistent availability of the region's members to such events, and are open to facilitating the ability of community members to host games by themselves by providing them advertisement and making it easier to know the type of games and activities Aesica's members play.
Daily Interactions: DSC wishes for the Government to heavily make use of "mini-events" such as the current "Questions of the Day" to encourage daily social interactions between community members. Other examples can be continuously hosting polls with questions allowing for answers on the RMB, encouraging discussions around the small Discord Activities like Wordle, randomly pinging opt-in roles to start conversations on a specific topic, and so on. This also includes our party's demand for ministers to be active members of the community to foster the same and simply to ensure the Government remains close to its citizens.
Regional History: The Ministry of Culture should serve as the official historian of the region, preserving key events and documenting the evolution of Aesica's political and cultural life. Recording past elections, working with roleplay staff to ensure events and worldbuilding is preserved, rewarding citizens who've contributed positively to the community's growth.
Regional Media: The government should maintain at least one official newspaper, such as The Aesica Gazette, while also supporting independent citizen-run publications in order to encourage pluralism in regional journalism. Furthermore, DSC stands against additional regulation on independent newspapers beyond what is currently present in L.R. 002 Newspaper Procedures and Public Information Act (2025).
Regional Census and Surveys: DSC supports periodic regional surveys or censuses to better understand the community’s composition, concerns, and interests. These tools help ensure government policy reflects the needs of the citizenry.
Party Charter
Section I - Democratic Socialists (DSC) has three "Co-Chairmen/ Co-Chairwomen" positions. Co-Chairmen/ Co-Chairwomen will be elected every 6 months between midterm and general elections. The Co-Chairmen/ Co-Chairwomen position's are largely ceremonial and their only duty is to ensure that DSC remains a legal party according to Aesica law.
Subsection I - Any member of the DSC is eligible to be a candidate for the position of Co-Chairmen/ Co-Chairwomen.
Subsection II - One to three rounds of voting shall take place depending on the number of available Co-Chairmen/ Co-Chairwomen positions. With the candidate/s with the most votes winning the new position.
Subsection III - In the event of a draw in voting, the drawing candidates are to be revoted on until a winner is decided.
Section II - DSC will be administered through communal leadership, with each member having equal status and weight in regards to party decisions, responsibility, and discussions.
Section III - All decisions, policies, and proposal's made by members of the DSC must be put to vote with a majority voting in favour, all members should vote if able, with 20% turnout needed, but no less than 3.
Subsection I - Party discussions, votes, and proposals are to be held in the official DSC party channel.
Subsection II - In the event of a draw in voting, the drawing outcomes are to be revoted on until a decision has been made.
Section IV - Party charter and manifesto changes are to be voted on with a minimum turnout of 40% and 2/3 majority to pass.
Subsection I - Party members are given 7 days to cast their votes, on the 7th day a notice shall be sent to members who have not voted.
Section V - The DSC elects members who wish for candidacy for government positions in the party. A vote using a preferential voting system shall be applied to see who gets the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc seat in government.
Subsection I - Newer member's/ member's who have not held government positions in 2 or more terms get priority in candidacy.
Subsection II - Priority candidacy is defined as a reserved second seat.
The Freedom Party of Aesica strives to create opportunities for our community to promote freedom for all Aesicans to build our region towards activity, excellence and determination.
Manifesto
General Policy
More Activity, Thriving Community -We strongly support active participation in every aspect of Aesican life, including politics, culture, academia, the arts, offsite communities, and social events. We believe that a thriving region is built by an engaged citizenry. At the same time, participation should always remain voluntary, and every citizen and government official should feel free to step away to focus on real-life commitments without stigma or expectation.
Strong Debates, Smarter State -We strongly support transparency throughout the government wherever possible. With the exception of classified or otherwise sensitive information, we believe that government actions, announcements, and ongoing initiatives should be communicated to citizens in a timely, factual, and non-partisan manner, including through regular updates on the Regional Message Board.
Civic Debate & Accountability -We strongly support a culture of respectful, evidence-based political debate. We believe that every policy, proposal, and institution should be strengthened through open discussion and thoughtful scrutiny. Citizens should be encouraged to question the government, political parties, and public officials in good faith, fostering transparency, accountability, democratic participation, and sound decision-making.
Domestic Policy
Congressional Seats Belong to Parties -We believe that congressional seats won in general or midterm elections belong to the political party that earned them. Voters choose parties in Aesica, not politicians. Political parties should have the authority to replace members of Congress representing their party through procedures established by that party. If a member resigns from the party, changes affiliation, or becomes inactive during their term, the party should be permitted to appoint a replacement to continue representing the voters who elected that party.
Inactive Representatives -We support adding the ability for Congress members to declare a Leave of Absence and appoint a temporary replacement. We support creating a procedure to automatically exclude inactive members from all quorum requirements so that they do not hold up business.
Legislative Leadership -We support preserving the authority of congressional leadership to manage the legislative agenda and maintain orderly proceedings within their respective chambers. The ability to determine which legislation reaches the floor is an essential responsibility of legislative leadership and helps ensure that Congress operates efficiently. We therefore oppose any petition process that would allow citizens or political parties to bypass congressional leadership and compel debate or votes on legislation.
Government Accountability -We support strengthening congressional oversight of the Executive Branch through hearings, investigations, and testimony. Congress must have the tools necessary to ensure transparency, investigate potential misconduct, and keep the public informed on executive actions.
House of Representatives Expansion -We support expanding the House of Representatives to nine members as political participation and active citizenship have grown sufficiently. A larger House will better represent the diverse voices of Aesica's citizens while ensuring Congress grows alongside the region.
Position Restrictions -We support restricting Cabinet Ministers from simultaneously serving in the Senate. Separating executive and legislative offices helps preserve the Senate's independence, reduces conflicts of interest, and protects the integrity of the confirmation process.
Economic Roleplay System -We support the creation of an integrated economic roleplay system that complements Aesica's political roleplay. We believe that expanding the practical uses of Aesmarks through a fair and accessible job market will create new opportunities for citizens, encourage participation, and strengthen the region's roleplay experience.
Keep Congress Aesican -We support the current citizenship system but support a requirement that members of Congress must be WA Citizens as long as they are WA members by their inauguration, in order to keep Congress full of Aesicans who are fully committed to the region.
Unanimous Consent -We support establishing a Unanimous Consent procedure that allows Congress to expedite legislation receiving universal support. This process would improve legislative efficiency while preserving the normal debate and voting procedures for more contested bills.
Impeachment Process -We support codifying a clear and comprehensive impeachment process into law to ensure accountability, transparency, and consistency when addressing serious misconduct by public officials.
Freedom of Association -We support maintaining freedom of association by allowing political parties to choose how to organise themselves, without government intereference forcing them to have constitutions they did not write.
Cultural Policy
Aesica Gazette -We support the continued publication of the monthly Aesica Gazette as a cornerstone of government transparency and civic engagement. We believe that every ministry should regularly report on its projects, accomplishments, and ongoing initiatives so that citizens remain informed about the work being carried out on their behalf.
Open Game Nights -We support a government-backed system that empowers citizens to host their own game nights, regardless of the game or time they choose. We believe that community events strengthen Aesica, provided they comply with all regional, site, and off-site rules and guidelines.
Roleplay Independence -We support keeping the roleplay independent from the regional government and codifying the position of Chancellor of Roleplay, and ensure that the Delegate cannot interfere with the roleplay without the roleplayers consent.
Education & Historical Preservation -We support the University of Aesica as the academic heart of our nation and recognize its vital role in preserving knowledge, fostering research, and educating future generations. We also support expanded efforts to chronicle the history of Aesica and its predecessors, ensuring that our nation's legacy is preserved while uncovering the hidden histories of NationStates for generations to come.
Foreign Policy
Support Existing Relationships -We support maintaining and strengthening Aesica's existing relationships with foreign regions while pursuing new partnerships with regions that share our democratic values, mutual respect, and commitment to regional cooperation.
Anti-Military -We oppose Aesica forming a military that would send our WA nations away from our region, in order to keep our Delegate strong and Aesica uninvolved in interregional conflicts.
No Inter-Regional Organizations -We oppose Aesica joining formal inter-regional military, political, or voting organizations, including World Assembly voting blocs. We believe Aesica should maintain an independent foreign policy guided solely by its own interests and principles.
Ambassador Program -We support creating an Ambassador Program that allows citizens to represent Aesica abroad, promote our values, strengthen diplomatic ties, and encourage greater civic participation in foreign affairs.
Citizenship: UNI supports automatic citizenship for all WA nations residing in Aesica. For non-WA nations, we support waiver-based citizenship granted with the approval of the Delegate.
Judicial: We support democratic processes for members of the judicial branch, ensuring that judges are ordinary people rather than just government appointees.
Roleplaying: Since roleplaying has been a central part of the NationStates community for years, we believe that the Aesican government should not interfere with it. Furthermore, ordinary citizens outside of the federal government should hold minor moderation positions to help oversee it.
Armed Forces: Aesica should not maintain a standing military unless the region is in danger of war.
Embassies: All regions requesting embassies should be thoroughly vetted for threats to Aesica before an embassy is approved or denied.
Political Parties: Smaller parties should be allowed to exist to foster diversity within Aesica. However, to prevent an excess of unserious or comical parties, appropriate regulations will be put into place.
Government Transparency: The Aesican government should be totally transparent with the people, except when handling top-secret matters.
Freedom of Speech: To protect freedom of speech and the press, media and news outlets should be free to report on anything, provided the topic is not classified.
Absence: If a member of the government misses three consecutive votes, they will be considered absent. During this period, a temporary replacement from their party can be nominated.
Death: The Aesican government should maintain a public database of every nation that ceases to exist (CTE) so that citizens can pay their respects.
Fair Trial: All citizens and non-citizens will be treated equally in the eyes of the law.
Elections/Term Limits: Elections must be held in a proper and fair manner. Any citizen attempting to use alternate accounts to manipulate election results will have their votes disqualified. Additionally, term limits for every office should be publicly accessible and transparent.
