The First Juiulian Reign

Scholars from the General Cognition Agency have thoroughly researched - and deep-dived into the extensive library of - the religious institution known and registered as the First Juiulian Reign.

What can be said in simple words about it is that it's a church which, unlike some other religions across Juiulia, accepts and admits the rest of the dogmatic worldviews offered by other beliefs. This acceptance is based on the fact that they could all be true (not at the same time), so long as the main belief system of the FJR remains true too.

The belief system is structured as follows:

Imperator Bril - In other religions, they can be considered "God", "Yhwh", or "Allah". They shaped the Universe and delegated some of the Sacred Labors to subordinate 'Princes'.

"Born from the spoonful of a star": Phyr, Prince of Joy.
"Born from a thread of a black hole's wool": Cyr, Prince of the Physical Realms.
"Born from the tears of Bril, cried when Phyr was born": Ecos, Prince of the Abstract Realms.

Simultaneously, the Princes, with the gifts of curiosity and consciousness, had four offspring each.

Yyr, Protector of Light
Nylir, Protector of Dark

Xylos, Protector of Belief
Phylos, Protector of Knowledge
Sophos, Protector of Ambition

"Bril weaved the Mens, the thread that connects all things, living or not, to themselves." The Mens gave form to all things, but it is seemingly a conditional state. So long as 'things' perform a Sacred Duty, they would remain connected to the Mens.

The Universe was in Divine Balance everywhere for a human's eternity, so long as Bril's rules were followed:
1. Bril rules over all that is.
2. Princes follow in command.
3. Protectors are mere shapers of reality and abstraction.
4. There shall be no disputes between Protectors and Princes.
5. A Prince or Protector's doing shall not be undone by any other than the original creator or creators.

There was one cosmic cycle in which, while patrolling through infinity, Li cut one of their limbs. Phylos was accompanying them, so they tended to their wound. However, something came out of it. A planet. There had already been billions of planets around the cosmos, but none compared to what this new one had: potential through time. Time wasn't really something the Protectors would care about, seeing as they were immortal and immaterial deities. But, since Li and Phylos had a shared interest over this planet, they began to care for it. They named it Ê.

Li created on this planet the Cancri, conscious beings whose Sacred Duty was the recollection of events that happen in Ê throughout time.

Phylos created the Gigas, a hivemind composed of gigantic "beings", the size of whole continents nowadays, to represent order, unity, and uniformity.

To bring balance to the planet, the Petri were also conceived under Phylos. They were beings of pure chaos and destruction. If a Petros hatched from its rocky forme, it would explode, damaging the whole land and taking the life out of anything that possessed it.

It would be the Gigas' Sacred Duty to "toss" the Petri around, preventing them from hatching, in a divine "dance". As a consequence, the Gigas "sweated", giving shape to the oceans.

Ê was these Protectors' secret experiment.

While observing their secret garden, Li and Phylos attracted the attention of Pheyr and Uyyr, the mischievous siblings who enjoyed ruining other Protectors' projects. While its creators were elsewhere, Pheyr and Uyyr meddled with Ê's balance. Pheyr 'plucked' one of the Gigas from the Collective (the hivemind) and Uyyr gave them the Divine Gift of Love. This Gigas, Xurlanii (Gzurlang'yi), immediately fell into a deep infatuation with another, Infortunii (Yinfurtwn'yi).

With the Divine Balance broken on Ê, Xurlanii defied their Sacred Duty to express their love toward Infortunii. However, after being told by the Cancer Joshua (Yashu-yl) that there would be no reciprocation, Xurlanii went into a rampage, destroying any Gigas that attempted to toss a Petros.

Up to this point in the mythos, the story is quite solid throughout the sources. However, from now on, some parts are missing, modified or censored.

After noticing the chaos that unveiled in Ê, Phylos attempted to create a Gigas whose Sacred Duty was to destroy Xurlanii and bring balance back. This Gigas was Juiulii (Iwyvl’yi). A fight of divine proportions broke out in Ê. Seeing as Xurlanii was undefeatable, the Collective, through Juiulii, decided to put the only Gigas that Xurlanii wouldn't destroy to an eternal sleep, hoping for their species to never go extinct. After this, Juiulii was destroyed. Xurlanii could only watch as the Petri began to hatch and destroy everything in sight, including their own self. They began to fracture, and, with the unending power of their Divine Gift, divided into thousands of parts, each one becoming sentient in their own right. The Petri eventually went extinct, and all that remained were the inert rocky bodies of the Gigas around Ê, including Infortunii, populated by the Cancri and Xurlanii's 'offspring', known as the Continentals.

After some time, the Cancri were banished from Infortunii's sleeping body, which was entirely populated and guarded by Continentals.

Records after this are entirely written in an unknown language of which only very few parts were translated. Most of these records are contained within the Forsaken Chants, a series of three scrolls. The first one is titled 'Spells', the second one 'Novellae', and the third one 'Annexes'.

From these barren translations, the most recent record is about how humans arrived at Infortunii (called 'the Continent' in the Chants), how Continentals cast a spell around it to prevent more humans from noticing it, and how they locked themselves below the surface of Infortunii - all of this about 1,500 years Before the Juiulian Revolution. That's about all that remains translated to this day.

A hypothesis proposes that the recently discovered Temples of the Protectors of Neo are the gateways into Infortunii's underground, the highways Continentals took into their containment. However, the First Juiulian Reign firmly denies this theory and whatever correlation there may be between the FJR and the Protectors of Neo.

Sidenote for the unaware: The Protectors of Neo are a strange group of humans that guard Temples built around 2,000 years BJR across the Continent. They forbid entry to the Temples to anyone, including their own.
