The Fist of the Directorate

Valkalan Armaments VKA-92 - The standard issue rifle for Valk soldiers. The rifle is quite durable, and is able to fire even when dirty or submerged. The VKA-92D, the standard version of the rifle since 1992, comes standard with a rail system that allows for the seamless addition of accessories such as telescopic sights and lasers with a grenade launcher under the barrel. The VKA-92D addresses malfunctions caused by overheating seen in previous versions of rifle, by coating the interiors of the rifle's polymer furniture with heat resistant alloys. The Valk service rifles are usually chambered for the 7.62x48 Valk round, which is comparable in size and performance to the 7.62x51 NATO round. Export versions chambered in a variety of rounds, including 5.56 NATO and 7.62 Soviet, are also produced.

Narzul Munitions NL-65 Sabre - Standard issue sidearm. Valk issued Sabres are chambered in .45 ACP, but 9mm is commonly used in export versions. The weapon is highly customizable, to the extent that it is a tradition among Valk servicemen to customize their sidearms, usually after a promotion or other meritorious achievement.

VKA-216 - Specialized rifle designed designed for urban warfare and special operations. The rifle is compact such that it excels in close-quarters. However, the bullpup design allows for a barrel long enough to ensure accuracy at longer ranges. Like the VKA-92, rails are standard. Yet, rifle is usually chambered for the lighter 5.88 Valk round. The rifle is popular among Valk law enforcement agencies and security firms.

zL-97 - The zL-97 is a submachine gun chambered in 5.88 Valk. It is a favorite of counter-insurgency forces on account of its light-weight, compactness and high lethality of the 5.88 round against soft targets. The weapon is also issued to Valk tanks crews.

Jaft-Uren 41S - A modified version of the original semi-automatic JU-41 rifle, which was the standard issue semi-automatic rifle for Valk forces from 1941 through 1973, and was used against Japanese forces in the Second World War, as well as various insurgent groups in during the Cold War. The 41S variant has been heavily modified for long range accuracy, and retains only the original JU-41 receiver. The original JU-41 is used for military ceremonies. While the original rifle was chambered for the American 30-6 round, the JU-41S uses the newer 7.62x48 Valk round.

YK-447 MG - General purpose machine gun. The MG can be deployed as a squad support weapon carried by a designated machine gunner, or mounted on an armored vehicle or helicopter. The weapon is chambered in 7.62 Valk.

YK-587 HMG - Heavy machine gun for Directorate Forces. The YK-587 is generally mounted upon armored vehicles and some aircraft. The YK-557 uses the 12.85mm round, which is comparable in size and performance to the American .50 BMG.

Ratel - The Ratel is an all-terrain light troop transport platform that is capable of incorporating a mounted machine gun or even an anti-tank missile. It is similar to American MRAP systems in that it is designed to survive blasts by mines and IEDs. Ratels are optimized for counter-insurgency operations.

R6 Scimitar IFV - The Directorate's preferred infantry fighting vehicle. The Scimitar carries enough space on board for a team of six fully-equipped infantrymen, serving a secondary role as an APC. The Scimitar is designed for versatility, and its standard anti-personnel weapons can be easily replaced with anti-air missiles, a light gun turret or anti-tank missiles. The Scimitar can be adapted to utilize a bridgelayer for combat engineering operations.

Imperial Industries Model 964 MBT - The standard main battle tank for Directorate Forces. It is known affectionately as the Desolator to foreigners, a name its crews have happily adopted. The 964 emits a faint hum on account of the electromagnetic charge of its Typhon armor, which is designed to cause incoming rounds to explode prior to impacting the tank's hull, thereby leaving the 964 largely unscathed during an attack. In addition, the tank's mounted machine guns can be controlled remotely from within the tank, allowing the crew to suppress soft targets without having to expose themselves to fire. Certain 964s have had their 128mm cannons replaced with railguns, for additional lethality, range and accuracy.

Narzul Munitions 846J MBT - 846J, commonly known as the "Cobra," is a main battle tank derived from the American M60A3 Patton. It is a cost-effective alternative to the 964, but forgoes the use of the 964's Typhon armor in favor of cheaper reactive armor. 846J was originally intended for export, but was adopted by Directorate forces a cost-effective means to provide a large second wave to back up the 964s. Like the 964, the 846J crew is capable of controlling the tank's machine guns remotely from within the tank.

Narzul Munitions 877 LT - The 877 is an amphibious light tank, which is primarily used by the Naval Assault Forces of the Fleet. The 877 was designed for amphibious landings and river crossings. The tank is meant to swiftly break through enemy coastal fortifications and clear a path for advancing soldiers, and some 877s have been upgraded with railguns to help achieve this end. While it was intended as an amphibious light tank, the 877's lighter weight also make it ideal for swampy terrain which is unsuitable for heavier tanks, and as such the 877 has also been adopted by the Artej in limited numbers.

Imperial Industries Skorpion 170-mm - The preferred mobile artillery platform of Directoate Forces. An experienced Skorpion crew can prepare the weapon to fire within an average of 9 minutes. The weapon is accurate to within 7 meters.

Shuhlz Sz-5 - The Sz-5 is a new tiltrotor transport. It is capable of carrying two dozen fully equipped soldiers, or a light armored vehicle such as a Scimitar IFV or a Ratel.

Korrin-Jaft K-17 Specter - The preferred gunship for Directorate Forces. The aircraft's revolutionary design, incorporating anti-gravity technology, allows for exceptional maneuverability while rapidly moving heavy firepower to the front lines in support of ground operations. A specialized version of the K-17, the K-17C, incorporates stealth features and night optics, allowing it surprise enemy formations in the dead of the night. The K-17C variant is a favorite of Death's Hand special operations forces.

Mk-66 Raven II- The multirole Raven II entered service in July of 2016, replacing the Cold War era Mk-45 Raven I. The aircraft incorporates nano-enhanced materials that significantly reduce the weight of the aircraft, allowing it to achieve greater speed and maneuverability relative to comparable foreign aircraft. The Raven incorporates some radar-absorbent materials and a low observability, but relies more on speed than on stealth. The aircraft is capable in air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements. The naval variant of the Raven is designated as the Mk-67 Corsair.

Mk-55 Djinn - The Djinn is a Valk-produced version the Russian Su-47 Berkut demonstrator. The airframe is largely the same as the original Russian design, but the aircraft's electronics, guidance systems and ordinance have been replaced with Valk components. The Djinn was intended primarily for export, but has proven to be a cost-effective yet deadly alternative to more costly 5th generation aircraft in Valk service. The Djinn was designed to rapidly enter hostile airspace, neutralize foreign aircraft, and clear a path for bombers and transports. Many squadrons of Djinn are posted in defense role, intercepting foreign aircraft when they wander near Valk airspace.

Ja-787 Vampyr - The Ja-787 Vampyr is a 5th generation stealth fighter. Much like the Raven, the Vampyr includes strong but lightweight nano-enhanced materials that allow the aircraft to achieve superior speed and maneuverability. Unlike the Raven, the Vampyr includes a greater amount of stealth features, notably radar-absorbent materials and a much lower radar cross-section. Additionally, the aircraft's ordinance are stored within the aircraft itself, reducing its radar signature. However, the Vampyr's design does allow for the use of under wing fuel tanks and ordinance for situations where stealth is not essential. The Vampyr is fielded in limited numbers, and is flown by the Directorate's most elite pilots.

Ja-664 Buzzard - The Buzzard is the Lyftjeta's dedicated close-air support platform, fulfilling a role similar to the American A-10 Thunderbolt II. It is capable of carrying a mix of air-to-ground missiles and gun pods containing 32mm gattling guns. The aircraft was designed to destroy enemy fortifications, structures, and armored formations with ease. The Buzzard carries greater armor than do most Directorate warplanes, as it frequently operates at low altitudes and is vulnerable to enemy fire.

Mk-104 Assassin - The Mk-104 Assassin is a next generation fighter-bomber which is the pride of the Lyaftjeta. The aircraft incorporates radar-absorbent materials, a low radar cross-section and other curious innovations. Other than the fact that they exist, not much is known about the Assassins. It is believed by some foreign intelligence agencies that the Assassins are equipped with anti-gravity technology, similar to the magnetic coating used on the undersides of Valkalan's Maglev trains, which are used against the earth's own magnetic field. This allows the Assassins to deactivate their engines in flight and glide silently within striking range of their unsuspecting targets using the aircraft's inertia to move forward. The aircraft's levitation capabilities are useful for short takeoffs, allowing the Assassin to rise several meters off of the ground before activating its engines and surging forward. The aircraft's levitation abilities allow the Assassin the option of operating off of aircraft carriers, and a small number of Assassins are in use by the Navy.

Xk-275 Phoenix - The Phoenix is a modular drone aircraft operated by Lyftjeta and its contractors. It is the most numerous aircraft in use by Directorate Forces. The drone provides a capable ISR platform while offering a light air-to-ground strike capability. Due to advances in chemistry and explosives made possible by nanotechnology, more explosive power can be contained within a smaller payload, allowing the small Phoenix to carry firepower comparable to a conventional bomber. The aircraft was named "Phoenix" because of its low cost and expendability, were each downed drone can be easily replaced. The naval variant of the Phoenix is the Xk-275K Barracuda.

Oktopus II class SSN - The Oktopus II is the replacement for original Cold War era Oktopus class submarines. Like its predecessor, the Oktopus is the workhorse of the Krajfyjt (Navy), whose doctrine favors a versatile submarine fleet over more conventional surface warships. The Oktopus is designed for endurance, and as such is fitted with a nuclear reactor and is capable of remaining at sea for months, perhaps even years if necessary. The Oktopus features an innovative hull design, which is designed to disperse sonar waves and mask the submarine's presence. The hull contains both vertical and horizontal launch tubes for cruise missiles and torpedoes, respectively. The ability to launch cruise missiles allows the Oktopus to satisfy the ranged strike roles normally fulfilled by a surface warship. The Oktopus is not a purpose-built SLBM platform, yet advances in miniaturization allow for smaller nuclear warheads that can be fitted onto a cruise missile, allowing the Oktopus to function as a deterrent against nuclear-armed aggressors.

Zeta class SS - The Zeta class is a class of non-nuclear attack submarine equipped with the latest in AIP fuel cell technology. The Zeta class is far smaller than the Oktopus and is more lightly armed, but is far more silent. The Zetas were designed to seek out and destroy foreign submarines, but in peacetime are typically used for intelligence gathering operations. Zetas are equipped with submersibles drones which have been used to retrieve sunken technology, such as downed satellites or parts of wrecked foreign warships.

Ustenjaav class - A versatile class of 28 frigates in the service of the fleet. The vessels mostly provide anti-air support for the rest of fleet, and are capable of coastal bombardment in support of amphibious operations. As of December of 2015, seven of the vessels had their deck guns replaced with new Extreme Velocity Cannons (EVCs), which use strong magnetic fields to suspend a projectile in a frictionless environment and propel it forward at tremendous speeds. Eventually all vessels will receive the upgrade, allowing them shell coastal targets and enemy warships at speeds too great for interception.

Colossus class CV - In spite of it's name, the Colossus class carriers are actually medium carriers which specialize in supporting amphibious assaults. The vessels carry 50 aircraft, generally a mix of rotary and fixed wing aircraft. Unlike most amphibious assault ships, the Colossus class uses a magnetically-assisted catapult, which allows aircraft to lift off of a short runway. The Directorate possess seven of these vessels.

Tyrant class CVN - The hallmark of conventional Valk power. The Tyrant is a class of nuclear powered carriers that are capable of housing up to 90 fixed and rotary winged aircraft. In their usual configuration, the carrier houses three squadrons of Mk-67 multi-role fighters, totaling 54 fighters. During large-scale amphibious assaults, the Tyrant is capable of supporting a flight of Specter attack helicopters. The navy possesses four such vessels.
