The United Planets of The Plutonian Empire, commonly called The Plutonian Empire, is a Monarchy spanning the entire universe. The Plutonian Empire covers 894,778.684 cubic Giga-Light Years and has has an estimated population of 24.93*10^28 Sapients. The Plutonian Empire comprises of countless trillions Earth-like and City-Class worlds. The Universe itself is a slightly oblate spheroid.

Since it's inception, the original Plutonian home world, Earth, has completed 2 full precession cycles plus 17 years, making the Plutonian Empire exactly 51,201 years old. The former Pole Star of Polaris has since moved out of its position, thanks to the movement of the stars in their orbits around the Milky Way Galaxy.

Etymology

The Plutonian Empire is named for the planet for which is its capital, Pluto. In turn, Pluto is the Roman name for Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld, which unlike the fiery inferno depicted in some other mythologies, was a cold, damp, and dark environment.

Upon its discovery in the year 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh, nine decades before the inception of the Plutonian Empire, the name was suggested by Venetia Burney, a young school-girl interested in classical mythology, after countless others were rejected.

The standard way to refer to a citizen of The Plutonian Empire is as a "Plutonian." However due to the universal scale of the Plutonian Empire, there are countless alien translations for this adjective. In addition, there are many cultures who prefer to use their own adjectives, especially if they are on less-than-friendly terms with the government.

History

Geography

The Plutonian Empire is a universal empire, spanning the entire universe, fitting whatever shape the universe is. Therefore, the Plutonian Empire is an oblate spheroid, containing countless galaxies of all shapes, sizes, and collisional situations. The alien worlds are highly varied, from the smallest mercurian, to the largest gas giants, to the most Earthlike worlds, and to the most hostile worlds.

Pluto

The most prominent feature is the heart-shaped Tombaugh Regio, a geologically active region 1,590 kilometers (990 miles) in diameter. It contained mainly nitrogen ices, but included methane and carbon monoxide ices as well. Since terraforming, Tombaugh Regio became Tombaugh Sea, Pluto's largest body of water. Both poles are partially covered in water as well. The bulk of the mainland covers most of the southern hemisphere.

The climate of Pluto is Siberian Taiga the world over due to the planet's small size and distance from the sun. The average temperature is 29.537805° Fahrenheit. Due to the obliquity (axial tilt) of Pluto and its distant orbit, the polar nights last for decades on end, especially at aphelion. While tornadoes and hurricanes do not occur on Pluto, and the weather is generally left up to nature, heavy thunder-snow storms are rather common. Equally common, freezing fog will cover hundreds of square miles at a time, especially during the long Plutonian nights.

As for the environment, the primary floras are genetically and magically engineered species of Picea mariana, or Black Spruce, originally native to the North American taiga before the Earth's Biosphere Collapse. In rural parts, the landscape is dominated by these trees, hardened to the long nights non-equatorial latitudes endure. Closer to and in cities, the most common trees are Picea Pungens, again engineered to endure the Plutonian climate.

Population

The Population of the Plutonian Empire is over 24.93*10^28, of which 48% are humans, with the rest being various species of humanoids and non-humanoids alike.

Language

The official language of the Plutonian Empire is Earthling English, which is a hybrid between American English and British English, names that have been forgotten for thousands of years, except in history textbooks.

Religion

The National Religion of the Plutonian Empire is the Temple of Plutonianism. The official description is that "Plutonianism is founded on the principles of free love, ethical hedonism, and respect for the individual sovereignty of every living being, regardless of race, species, creed, and status."

Plutonianism also portrays a polytheistic hierarchy for divine beings, loosely based on the Roman and Greek deities of ancient mythology, but states that all religions are different characterizations and stories of the same deities and entities, and are meant to be complementary, rather than contradictory. Additionally, Plutonianism includes the Abrahamic God, with the name Yahweh, as being at the top of the hierarchy, being the creator of everything. Underworld and "dark" figures are particularly viewed in a positive or neutral light, rather than outright negative, like the Abrahamic religions.

It is believed that divine interventions are rare, as Plutonianism teaches that the universe is part of an infinite web of Multi-Verses, with universes taking many different sizes and "shapes" on various planes and dimensions of existence. It is for this reason that the Plutonian Empire believes it was able to successfully control the universe, and chooses to respect the sovereignty of other universes.

Although the primary religion among human Plutonians is Plutonianism, many alien species across the universe, humanoid and non-humanoid, tend to practice their own religions. However, humanoid aliens are more open to Plutonianism in some cultures.

Races

The most common species in the Plutonian Empire is the human, making up about 48% of the total population. 39% of all Plutonians are various non-mortal entities making up the supernatural population, not including citizens declared as deceased (having passed on from the mortal plane). 7% of Plutonians are various species incorporated into the nation as the Plutonian Empire grew. 5% of Plutonians are the Weavers, while the remaining 1% are Belle Hadeans.

As the Plutonian Empire expanded and time went on, the human species itself branched out in to many, many additional branches of evolution, all adapted to the climates of various alien worlds and environments, such as different gravity, temperatures, sunlight sources, and so forth. Thanks to a controversial, but completely optional government-funded program, many humans, and even several alien species, have undergone preferential breeding, to maintain or even create new tones of skin colors. Many have accused this program of providing licenses to discriminate, however the official government stance is the promotion of diversity and acceptance. This is especially considering that joining this program requires extensive psychological evaluations before being given a license to join the program, in an effort to combat racism and discrimination.

While the government of the Plutonian Empire officially states itself as a Monarchy, it is technically a Hereditary Polyarchy, since the King and Queen share equal power, and the leadership of various main branches is assigned to the immediate offspring of the King and Queen. All cities on Pluto are also assigned to these offspring.

The King and Queen are lifetime leaders. In the case of the Plutonian Empire, Eugene Empire has been King for the entire duration of the Plutonian Empire's existence, using magical immortality to maintain his preferred age appearance, 30 Earth years. Queen Amy Empire and their children also all use magical immortality.

Any children produced with anyone else outside the bloodline do not have this requirement, and are not required to be life-time politicians, but are not prohibited from magical immortality either.

In the lowest levels of government, elections are freely allowed, as giant, inter-galactic nations will always require at least partial Democracy in order to effectively function for long periods of time. However, every level of government may be subject to some form of Royal Override at any time, mainly due to some emergency, or if an elected candidate abuses their power in order to oppress their masses. Due to mild bureaucracy, the longest time it's taken for a Royal Override to fix a problem was one month.

However, corruption is not inexistant; the government positions in closest proximity to the Royal Family are almost always cherry picked by members of the Royal Family itself. Every position down to Galactic President is manually propped up by the government in order to remain in power, mainly out of fear of fascist take-overs. In addition to that, the King is noted for his dislike of being in the company of other men, so as a result, the Plutonian Capitol is staffed entirely by women of various species and races. Any males that do work for the government are forced to work at a Government Center on the other side of Pisces Centauri, Pluto.

While King Eugene himself is noted to frequently over-humble himself, Queen Amy has been noted for her regular screaming fits at various leaders within the Plutonian government. Over time, Queen Amy earned a reputation for being a "Spitfire Queen" due to her short temper, although she's directed her anger at the King, also her husband, exceedingly rarely.

Foreign Relations and Military

For most of the Plutonian Empire's early history since the migration to Pluto, the government denied any claims it made contact with races not native to Earth, until the King finally caved to pressure from the Empire's long-time, then-secret ally, and constructed official embassies with a humanoid race. The humanoid race resides on a circumbinary Earth analog, named Belle hades, orbiting the nearby binary star Delta Trianguli, which is 35 light years away. The next alien race met were the Binarians, an insectoid race who initially and intensely disliked the Plutonian Empire after being accidentally ripped from a different universe due to a failed thermonuclear experiment.

After relations tempered, the Plutonian Empire and the Binarians allied up and have since shared a mutually beneficial relationship that achieved their goals for universal conquest.

Since achieving her goals over the past millennia, the Plutonian Empire again adopted new isolationism policies to try to respect the citizens of neighboring universes, and all expansion was stopped after the last galaxy in this universe was captured.

The Empire today has a huge military, backed up by massive funding and almost a full tenth of its population in the military, most of them supernaturals. The King, having a deep-rooted obsession with nuclear weapons, eliminated regulation prohibiting personal civilian use of such technology early in Plutonian History. As a result, the Plutonian Military has to deal with both Plutonian vigilantes and black market "dirty nukes" from the enemy when taking over new territory. Aside from these issues, all branches of the military are well-funded, and there is no shortage of starships, attack shuttles, or manpower.

Additionally, the Plutonian Space Force employs perpetually recycled and space- and FTL- adapted Boeing jets on a regular basis, so 747's being operated as spaceborne bombers, for example, are a rather common sight.

Economy

The Empire's economy is largely technology based, with a variable exchange rate, and is regulated by tough citizen protection laws. All consumerist activity is online, and the manufacturing base provides items on an order-by-order basis. The manufacturing base itself is a healthy mix of manual and automated jobs. The resources required for the manufacturing base are, by mandate, repeatedly recycled perpetually, as no matter how big the Plutonian Empire gets, resources are always officially considered "limited."

Society

Society in the Plutonian Empire enjoys massive rights to freedom and liberty. However, Plutonian citizens used to have higher rates of birth defects and mutations, due to the absence of anti-incest laws. The only laws regulating sapient relationships on such worlds are the ones prohibiting truly non-consenting sexual acts, such as rape and molestation.

However, advances in genetic engineering magic and technology early on in the Plutonian Empire's life have completely eradicated the negative effects of inbreeding, allowing the some of the members of the Royal Family to be normal, functioning adult humans. In more conservative regions, the serious taboo remains, however.

Aside from sexual and reproductive matters, and as the child of the now-gone United States of America, Plutonian society retains much of the American sense of optimism and openness. Freedom of choice and the freedom to live one's life as they please remain at the top of Plutonian values.

Culture

Human Plutonians are fiercely matrilineal, a vivid, stark contrast to humanity's older days on Earth, when before the foundation of the Plutonian Empire, humanity's rulers were almost entirely men who ruled with iron fists and cold hearts. This change was only possible as for the first few centuries of its existence, the Plutonian Empire had strict immigration policies, where every potential new resident was extensively psycho-analysed, in an effort to stamp out misogyny once and for all. Today, Plutonians are also quite egalitarian in attitude, receiving full equal pay, equal benefits, maternity/paternity leave, and so forth.

Plutonians have a highly liberated populace, with well-funded sex education, free birth control for all, mandatory self-defense training, and extensive psychiatric aid for assult and trafficking victims. Fortunately, thanks to countless centuries of high funding for such programs, assault and trafficking are essentially nil. The most popular of these programs is the "Consent Is Sexy" project, which drills the concept of mandatory consent into the minds of young adults of all races and species.

All over the universe, Plutonians enjoy countless sources of media, from film, to literature, and even interactive holographic adaptations of many famous stories. Long gone are the days of bulky and clumsy "VR" (virtual reality) sets that contributed more to injuries and social awkwardness than entertainment, since the Plutonian Empire contains everything one desires for holographic entertainment.

In the Plutonian Empire, celebrities are well protected, with media paparazzi strictly regulated. Broadcast journalism is also well-regulated as Plutonians learn in grade school about the historic collapse of the American society thanks to excessive deregulation of the news media.

Many Plutonians offer countless home made and public delicacies from all over the Universe, as there is literally always something new to offer every day, somewhere. Eugene's Hangout, one of the most popular social hangouts in the Empire, also serve free food 24/7, always from local sources and recipes. Plutonians also enjoy free entertainment and recreation at these venues as well.

Intellectually, Plutonian citizens strive for constant betterness, in balance with personal needs and free time. In regions that have stronger focus on elections, many schools offer free debate classes and courses in critical thinking.

Infrastructure

As a universal nation, the Plutonian Empire has countless methods of transportation. With the presence of highly advanced, dilation-less FTL (Faster-Than-Light) travel, Plutonians can reach literally anywhere in the universe within mere seconds. Although, many citizens also enjoy deliberately prolonged flights, like interstellar and intergalactic cruise ships and cruise planes. While FTL drives do generate fields in order to achieve FTL, they are completely invisible, allowing spacecraft and warp planes to retain windows for majestic eye candy during flight. While interstellar and intergalactic traffic generally have free reign with minimal Traffic Control, thanks to the vast distances between objects in outer space, planetary surfaces and airspace are more regulated.

In cities, there are paved roads that designate where all traffic from the ground up shall go, up to a specified altitude. Ground vehicles are always available for those afraid to fly. Local communities are given some leeway to best regulate traffic based on locals' driving behaviors. Like in space, some residents will choose long flights as a form of luxury and relaxation.

For magic users, personal teleportation via the Astral Plane is an option, but is always limited to any one planet or set of moons. Non-corporeal beings, such as lower deities, spirits, and apparitional demons, have the option to travel huge distances via interstellar ley lines. Ley lines are energy "superhighways" that naturally follow magnetic and electromagnetic pathways throughout a galaxy, much like rainwater following the contours of the land during rain storms.

Energy

The favorite sources of electrical power for the Plutonian Empire are nuclear and magic. Thanks to unimaginable technology, nuclear meltdowns are now impossible thanks to radical alterations in power plant designs, boosting fuel consumption efficiency to 100%. This proved especially valuable in regions where renewable energy was essentially impossible, such as deep space.

If one was a witch or sorcerer and was powerful enough, they could literally create their own, magical source of energy and renewable energy with enough practice.

For large spaceships that took up huge volumes of space, such as the Tri-Ship, magical enchantments added onto nuclear power facilities provided significant power boosts, providing energy not just for the whole ship, but also for its weapons and defense systems. Tri-Ships that had their own super-weapon on the underside or elsewhere, a second, dedicated nuclear power source was added. While the ships themselves were relatively "small", about 10 miles across at most, their superweapons had enough energy to annihilate planets up to 10 earth masses.
