Factions

There are no formal political parties in Almonaster Nuevo, following the principle espoused by Kingsley Mathom that "Parties are the death of Democracy". All candidates for office are expected to stand on the basis of their own character and convictions.

The Gardeners: Favour a planned, interventionist approach to the environment, and a more formal integrationist approach to inter-community relationships.

The Hunters: Prefer a hands-off approach to the environment, and are strongly in favour of local and individual autonomy.

Future Positive: Have a keen interest in science and space exploration. They tend to take a utilitarian rationalist approach in other areas.

The Mathom Collective: Are heavily focussed on the teachings of Kingsley Mathom, and aim to promote the Hypercommunity system internationally. They seek a balance between formal and informal structures at all levels.

Roots: A culturally-focussed group, seeking to find common ground amongst the wide diversity of communities in Almonaster Nuevo and abroad.
