Germerian Armed Forces

Link

The Germerian military is split into two parts, the Imperial Guard and the Germerian Assault Corps. The GAC is the national military body, comprised of volunteers and is split between the Army, Air Force, Navy and Special Operations. Alongside this, every Confederate member and Imperial Prince is granted the right to raise and maintain their own armies at their discretion, so long as they uphold their duties to the Emperor. The total number of GAC troops is around 950,000 active personnel and 300,000 reserves, not including vassal armies, and the Imperial Guard numbers around 10,000 troops.

Army
The Germerian Army's main duty is to protect the Empire from any foreign or domestic threat. They're primarily deployed as an attacking force, and once their objectives are met they maintain and hold conquered territory until the end of the conflict. They are under the command of the General of the Armies, a position appointed by the Emperor and approved by the Diet, who is under the Emperor's authority. Vassal armies are held to a minimum standard of equipment and are under the same chain of command as regular GAC commanders, but are given more leeway in how they operate.

The standard kit of a regular GAC soldier includes a primary assault rifle, sidearm and explosive munitions.

Navy
The Germerian Navy's duty is to patrol the coasts and islands of Germeria. They've been used as raiders on enemy coasts, anti-piracy operations and as escorts along the trade routes near Germeria. Currently, there are 3 aircraft carriers, 1 Superaircraft carrier, 30 submarines in the Germerian Navy, all of which are nuclear-powered. The remainder of the Germerian navy is composed of 300 other warships, with around 180 of them being warships capable of operating in deep ocean territory, and the remainder 120 being full duty logistical and support ships, capable of fighting in small engagements but otherwise remaining unprotected. The remaining craft capable of fighting in large scale battle are around 100 to 200 coastal defense craft, significantly easier to maintain and build than a conventional navy, but also much less dangerous than the larger warships. All Germerian islands and possessions in the Orvosic Sea have operational naval bases.

Air Force
The Germerian Air Force is meant to control the skies over Germeria and establish air superiority over hostile or threatening nations by extending the attack range of Germerian aircraft and ballistic missiles. The doctrine of the Air Force is strong, quick and precise air strikes on enemy positions followed by a continued presence of fighter aircraft and transport craft. In an offensive, it is likely to expect fast aircraft speed into defensive networks and strike once at critical targets such as anti-aircraft positions, followed by heavy bombing and then finished by more fast strikes. Afterwards, once boots have landed on the ground fighter aircraft roam the sky for potential counter-attacks.

The Germerian air force consists of 4,500 aircraft, of which 1,200 are multi-role aircraft capable of performing air superiority missions as well as ground support attack missions and armed with enough firepower to serious damage or destroy most conventional fortifications. The remaining 3,200 aircraft divided between naval patrol craft, larger bombing planes and transport and cargo planes to supply the fast deployments and maneuvers of the GAC.

Special Operations
Special Operations is a catch-all term for any unorthodox or specialized unit in the GAC. Some of these units are under the sole control of the GAC high command, some are purely under the authority of the Emperor. The Special Operations force is generally used for covert operations into hostile territory, but can also be used as an espionage force or be involved in counter-terrorist operations with other countries. The most famous unit in Special Operations is the Special Operations Force Tarton, or SOFT. This unit is involved with covert operations and was once used as an espionage group to spy and assassinate foreign targets of interest, although it is the official position of the GAC that SOFT is now solely used as a raiding group.

Imperial Guard
The Imperial Guard is under the direct control of the Emperor and are used for a number of purposes, from direct confrontation in military conflicts to espionage and covert operations. The Imperial Guard's main responsibility is to protect the Emperor and their direct family, as well as anyone that the Emperor wishes. They are generally not intended to fight conflicts on their own, but they do attach themselves to the various regiments and battalions of the GAC, and are usually the spearhead of a major offensive. Once a campaign has begun and further plans have been established, they are sent out into enemy territory to cause havoc and implant themselves into the enemy military structure, posing as enemy soldiers, as well as helping Special Operations units in their operations.

Aside from that, they are also known to have agents following the Emperor and his entourage whenever he goes out on matters of state, and there are even stories of agents being planted into foreign events ahead of the Emperor in order to assure his safety. The Imperial Guard is granted better equipment than the GAC due to their importance to the Emperor and are selected only from the top applicants of the different branches of the military, with only 1 out of every 5 applicants able to meet the standards of the Guard.

Proposed upgrade to current Guard combat equipment, including a prototype helmet with an advanced communications suite, multi-vision goggles and primitive heads-up-display. Below, theoretical designs based on the above uniform that are hoped to be achievable within the next few decades, as well as the Imperial Guard's Crest and Arms.
