Fort Neptune Announced

The construction proposal of an underwater base in the gulf has been granted funds by the government, three months after the Admirals of the Navy proposed such a thing. Fort Neptune is a multi million Sam project and will take many months to complete, but will prove a strong asset to our notorious Navy. Submarine patrols are routine in the gulf and with a recent addition of two vessels to the patrol fleet the needs for charging points inside the gulf have increased. At this point the nations main supplier of energy for vessels in the gulf is the Isle of Maxwell, but fuel imports are simply too expensive and there are no energy resources on the island that can be used. Fort Neptune will be built into a small island of rock measuring only 92 metres in diameter. There will be room for 35 inside the fully submerged base, including 5 engineers, 15 military personnel, a Commander and 4 officers and 10 engine room operators. The highest point on the fort is the roof of the living area underneath the rock island. This part is submerged 253 metres below sea level. The Fort has a months supply of energy and one cylindrical generator powered by a wave turbine, and a six month supply of food, which is replenished by visiting submarines. Inside the living area is a Commanders Cabin, one large dormitory, and a small one for officers, a communal bathroom and dining room, a kitchen and a gym. There is also a small living room and an extra dormitory for the workers. A vault door leads to three large cylindrical generators, each powered by a hydroelectric wave turbine. Two of these are used to charge electric submarines. There a remote controlled water proof charging tubes that swim towards the energy charge point on board the submarine. Similar tubes are also used to exchange cargo. The base will also have a shaft reaching up to the peak of the rock for emergency access. The station is expected to be fully operational by summer and will have the honour of being opened by Admiral Baxter from the Imperial Navy, and former submariner.
