Election Rush Continues in Europeia

(Europeia, April 20, 2017) - Europeia elected Malashaan as World Assembly Delegate in a run-off election on April 19. Malashaan, who also serves as the Speaker of the Senate, defeated former presidential candidate Kaboom 41 votes to 29. The World Assembly Delegate election is the result of former Delegate Trinnien's abrupt resignation earlier in the month.

"It's an honor to be elected Delegate," Malashaan said in an exclusive interview with the Europeian Broadcasting Corporation. "It's a position I've been looking at for the last two years, but the time was never right until this election. I'm looking forward to working with Calvin and Rach to better integrate the [World Assembly] into our foreign policy."

The first round of the election saw six candidates compete for the post. Caedin, Celtian, Comrade Snowball, Kaboom, Malashaan, and TheGemini all stood. With none of the candidates reaching a majority of the vote, the top two vote-getters advanced to the run-off.

On April 14, Seven Deaths won the by-election for the Senate, taking the place of Europeia's founder HEM, who resigned his seat on April 5. "I want to thank you all for your support in this most recent election," he said from his office after the victory. He defeated Comrade Snowball, Constie, Punchwood, and The Nation of the People, collecting 45 votes, good for 58 percent.

The Europeian Citizens' Assembly will hold an election for its Chair on April 21. Comrade Snowball, TheGemini, and United Vietussia have all announced their candidacies for the position.

"I will listen to the people," Comrade Snowball succinctly stated when he announced his candidacy. He also intends to promote world peace, create equality, promote freedom, and bring Europeia into the 21st century. Oddly, the last item on his agenda is simply "Comrade Snowball."

"I plan to wrap up Constitution VI rewrites, continue my started efforts in education, and truly make the CA a great place for newcomers," United Vietussia said in his opening campaign remarks.

TheGemini has not held any campaign events to date, nor posted a platform for review.
