Yarnian Recordkeeper: Peoples republic of the basque people

Concepts (A long, long time ago-February 2, 2016)
Once upon a time, in a middle school cafeteria, a group of friends created a medieval roleplaying civilization. This civilization was called Yarnia. Each friend held a job in Yarnia, ranging from the town drunk, to the town judge. This civilization existed in their minds and in their hearts, and as time grew longer, it would grow to exist as one of the most storied regions in Nationstates.

The Beginning (February 2, 2016-March 18, 2016)
One of these friends, Something Dumb took it upon themselves to establish a new region in NationStates. This region drew inspiration from the medieval town of their younger days. Quickly, they were joined by the earliest administrators, Las pantuflas, Randomosities, and Peoples republic of the basque people. This region instantly made waves in the international community, establishing embassies left and right, primarily guided by Something Dumb and Peoples republic of the basque people. Approximately 25 individual nations joined, establishing a community with some vibrance.

The Puppet Invasion (March 18, 2016-August 31, 2016)
Starting on March 18, 2016, the number of nations in Yarnia began to skyrocket, quickly surpassing 100, 200, 300, even 400. Ultimately, it would max out at 528 nations, approximately 500 of which were controlled by Peoples republic of the basque people. This time period saw the decline of real interaction, in favor of fake interaction between Basque Puppet states. What appeared to be a thriving community was at its core a dying region. Kerbalton would join the region during this time, taking administrative reins from Randomosities, which had ceased to exist. Many core Yarnia features were instituted during the Puppet Invasion, including several Yarnian Actions, and the Yarnia Map.

Yarnia did attempt to establish a Puppet Region system during its days under the Puppet Invasion, fitting its historical context perfectly. The plan was to make a region for every real-world nation, as well as the UN. These regions had names such as Yarnia in the UN, Yarnia in Barbados, and Yarnia in Austria. Ultimately, rather than provide an opportunity for multiple communities to spring up autonomous friendship, this just created raider targets. The Black Hawks attacked Yarnia in Barbados and Yarnia in Australia multiple times, though were defeated.

The Dark Ages (August 31, 2016-September 26, 2017)
On August 31, 2016, Peoples republic of the basque people ceased to exist, along with their many puppet states. The handful of remaining states slowly died off, including Las pantuflas, and Kerbalton. At one point the only remaining nation was Something Dumb, who did not make a recruitment of significance. Yarnia lost many embassies during the Dark Ages, dropping from around 400 embassies to around 150. Every puppet region died, and with it, so did their embassies. The Dark Ages were marked by the presence of Something Dumb, and the occasional presence of Las pantuflas, and IKINGCAKE.

The Yarnian Renaissance (September 26, 2017-November 29, 2017)
Suddenly, many previously existent Yarnian nations returned to existence around November 23 and 24, 2017. Peoples republic of the basque people, Las pantuflas, and La musica de los artes immediately were instituted as the new administrative team. The Yarnian Parks Administration was written into law, but not created. Yarnian recruitment returned with these new nations. Recruitment was sparked, and the region grew. The Yarnian Map was revitalized. On November 29, 2017, however, it became apparent that change was needed.

The Great Remodel (November 29, 2017-January 11, 2018)
Yarnia lost the leadership of La musica de los artes and Las pantuflas again. Yarnia instituted Winterbarrow as the replacement for Las pantuflas, as they were controlled by the same person. However, replacing La musica de los artes would prove an even bigger challenge. Ultimately, U-s-n-a would defeat Wahyu land in an election to replace La musica de los artes and The kingdom of nihilists would be granted a 5th spot on the administrative team, leading to a roster of Something Dumb, Peoples republic of the basque people, Winterbarrow, U-s-n-a, and The kingdom of nihilists.

Yarnia went through several non-governmental changes as well. Yarnia would establish a Discord during this time, following campaigning from Wahyu land and Xeophlensian collective. This Discord would be replaced in early January 2018, as Peoples republic of the basque people proved to be a poor choice for a Discord host.The Yarnian Map added biomes to add to the fun of the map, as well as a second continent. The Yarnian Parks Administration was actually created during this time period, with Kerbalton at the helm. Population-wise, it remained consistent. There were gains until December 21, 2017, when Yarnian Puppet Storage was created for Yarnian Puppets by Peoples republic of the basque people. There was even an unannounced merge that was attempted with The Wolf Clan. Ultimately, talks would sputter, as Yarnian administrators refused to abandon the Yarnian name.

The Era of Livelihood (January 11, 2018-July 12, 2018
After the institution of the Yarnian Historical Record, and Kerbalton had taken the reins of the Yarnian Parks Administration, Yarnia grew comfortable with itself. This period was marked by a gradual increase in Discord usage, as well as regular RMB activity. This was the era in which the Yarnian Historical Record was initiated, to ensure that the region could document its history.

The Basque Departure (July 12, 2018-October 25, 2020
Peoples republic of the basque people, one of the key leader countries within Yarnia fell into disarray. Peoples republic of the basque people eventually ceased to exist, in the process killing off the Yarnian Puppet Storage region. This was followed by the loss of many embassies, and the demise of many of the nations surrounding it. The region's life was saved by the continued presence of Something Dumb. Without them, the region would have long succumbed to destruction.

Reorganization(October 25-2020-Present)
Peoples republic of the basque people returned on October 25, 2010. At this point, it is unclear what the future of Yarnia holds. The region faces many new challenges as it attempts legitimate growth. It also faces the challenge of utilizing existing infrastructure from what was once a much larger region, and revamping that infrastructure to fit the needs of the current region.
