A:CLM Wonder:"I am enthusiastic about the future of this region. I was a former member of Westphalia for a short time, and despite the raid and all that happened, we all stuck together. I see great things for this region, and the leadership."
Livoniapolis:"I believe it is vital that we as a region extend our diplomacy and gather what we need for our population and for the defense as well if that is needed. So each nation has it's individual responsibility to facilitate that to the greater good of our region and it's affairs internally and externally. I wouldn't mind an ambassadorship program to weed in and out those whom can withstand the burdens and the demands of it."

A Christmas Carol
Yuletide Yggdrasil of the region Christmas provided a dispatch written of the history of Christmas which, to those who aren't aware, has an embassy with the region Westfalen Westphalia. Usually quiet and remote most of the year, Christmas has been known as a haven for those who love celebrating the winter holidays, or perhaps just want to sit down with a hot cup of cocoa. Now, visitors can have access to this newly-provided piece of knowledge, and experience another part of what the region has to offer. Readers can find the dispatch link below:
This Founder Nation, Santas helper, was a player known in the wider Gameplay community as Corinthe. She was also the founder of another region, The Youngworld, which meant that, for a period, the two regions actually shared a Founder. The Boneyard shows Corinthe's final activity as 15 years ago, while that of Santas Helper being 11 years ago.
There was not much activity in Christmas from 2005 to 2012. With raiding constituting the majority of all activity. Being founderless, this would be a problem that would continue to haunt the region throughout its existence.
In July 2012, Christmas was notably raided by Asgard, then led by Cormac, Koth, and Venico, with the intention of refounding the region as a "cultural hub" for NationStates, in general, and as a colony of Asgard, specifically. This prompted a Liberation effort in the Security Council, led by the United Defenders League, which proved quite contentious, with natives and defenders alike coming down on both sides of the issue, and heavy discussion in the forums debating the various pros and cons.
The greater NS community would eventually come to a consensus that it was better for the region to be able to decide its own fate, however insecure that may be, rather than allowing an outside group to impose greater stability by force of will. The Liberation passed. And as one former player remarked: "I would like Christmas to be the one founderless region we all agree to not use as a battle ground ... the one place that we can be civil and co-exist."
Asgard would eventually pull out of the region. However, besides spurring the Liberation of Christmas, Asgard would prove to have another lasting legacy on the region: in the form of the multicolored lettering of "Merry Christmas" on our World Factbook Entry.
Post-Liberation, Christmas would continue to see frequent raiding, with this state of affairs continuing until 2016. This was when the Predator Scandal broke, and raiding declined more generally, then.
A long-standing fixture in Christmas had since returned, Jolly ole saint nick (with his signature "Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho!" and traditional Christmas "sleigh rides" across NationStates), and he worked to spruce up the WFE and set a Welcome Telegram, laying the groundwork in the region for what it would be today. A small community managed to form, though by Summer of 2017, this had unfortunately dwindled. The current community started to form shortly thereafter.
After some late 2017 antics, Little St Nick turned the regional flag into an advent calendar for December. The flag was changed daily, using pictures suggested by various nations across NS. That Christmas was celebrated with a large visiting delegation from TWPAF and friends. In April 2018, Earthbound immortal squad moved to Christmas, becoming Delegate. Under their watch a great number of embassies were built, spreading Christmas joy across regions. They attracted new nations to the region, building the community that exists today. In December 2018, the residents strove to incorporate the wider NationStates community into the festivities. The Advent Calendar returned, and the WFE began to display "gifts" which would feature various nations who have contributed to making NationStates a better place for all. A "Cookbook" was compiled for a "Feast for all Nations," which included recipes submitted by anyone who wished, to be displayed for all. And we hope to continue this tradition for many Christmases to come!

Literary Expeditions
Wandering Wallabies came out with a dispatch detailing a Writing Competition event he's hosting, the first known competition of it's kind in Westfalen Westphalia. The dispatch details that writing pieces that will be judged should be less than 500 words, with the theme being "Seasons". As a bonus, this competition is open to Westfalen Westphalia's embassies, as well as the main region itself. We couldn't get anything from the creator himself, but if you are interested, contact Wandering Wallabies, and check out his dispatch for more details:

1.Deadlines for submissions are 2nd and 4th sunday of the month, midnight -4GMT. ( -4GMT is Eastern daylight time USA, for reference). This will change to -5GMT when daylight savings time in the states ends this fall.

3. Winner of previous weeks contest will judge the next contest, and decide on the theme and or format.
4. NS rules apply, and keep it PG-13 please.

The Oats Are In!
According to public witnesses, it happened right after Ecotopia2's reportedly "daily dabbing session", when he suddenly had a seizure and collapsed. According to the most recent reports from authorities, 500 batches have been found in Ecotopia2's home, indicating he was an frequent user. Ecotopia2 is alive and well, but still in recovery, and expected to be released on Friday of this week. After asking for comment on the incident, Cannula has kept silent. As for whether this will inflict damage on his run in future elections, it is unclear. Now remember, if you're taking Oatcaine, make sure to intake no more than half a batch weekly to avoid any health risks that may be caused. This is The Westphalian Post, out.

Politics, oh boy!

Nonetheless, with more and more dormant nations waking up, elections & the creation of political parties have started to become topics of popular interest.

The region Republican Antilles had recently had their council elections, with roughly around 50% participation. After several nations vying for the 5 seats offered, the elected members are
Hulldom (Liberal, winning 1-0), Sanchee2020 (Progressive Front, winning 8-5), Evile puppet (Republican Afternoonist, winning 11-1), Armenia-kronia (Greenleft, winning 8-5), and Cascadian tribes (Progressive front, winning 7-4-2). After election, a council session was in process, where the nation Saariset, a former candidate in the election, was nominated as president of the Interim Council. -----
