Congrats! I hope you had a good birthday

Was good, I prefer low key stuff.

Gran made her meatloaf, which im fairly certain contains crack, they got me a nice cake, and I got p!ss drunk and played bannerlord all night, as tradition demands.

IN other news, I have good tidings.

My little brother is getting hitched soonish, and knowing him he'll make me an uncle soon, and my Sister's abuser got sentenced to hard time and extended probation.

I'm glad that you had a good birthday! And I'm happy for your lil bro and your sister, especially your sister bc abuse survivors do not get anywhere near enough justice from the courts or otherwise.

Got about 1500 points of customized kitbashed Emperors Children.

Wish i could post pics here cuz they are mighty pretty.

Also, hope everyone is well. Caught myself missing the AP homies.

Ye, I'm a little sick but I'm doing alright

Glad to hear that. You doing anything on NS or outside during your free time? Anything cool goin on?

On NS, I haven't done much in forever really. I keep this tab open here in case a message drops on the RMB but that's about it. I've been doing a lot of tabletop stuff over discord I suppose, in the RPsphere, but that's most of what I've been up to.

I'm doing a few games with Imps in P2TM.

Otherwise I'm mostly working, I've got a car to pay off now

Mm, I haven't really had time to invest in NS between IRL stuff and the other projects I'mw orking on.

Cool! What kind of campaign are you and whoever you're playing with running?

I am playing in a Sino-Japanese War campaign set in 1938 as an IJA Para unit, and I'm planning out running one myself in sort of a Sword and Sorcery Bronze Age thing.

Ooh. Are those parts of history that you're really interested in? The Sino-Japanese effort doesn't get talked about enough at all, so I'm not as familiar with it as I'd like to be despite having spent time in Japan when I was younger. I frankly don't know much about the Bronze Age at all and what separates that from other parts of ancient history aside from the development of tools and proliferation of warfare and empires.

Usually, since I'm not too familiar with history, I RP stuff in modern day or at somewhere past 1910, so it's easier to know what's going on and what I'm able to do.

I am particularly into Imperial Japan, yes, although I have a very broad interest in the history of Japan. I am also quite fond of the Heian Period and the Bakumatsu as particular favourites.

My Bronze Age campaign is actually on the even more obscure end of the subject, as while it is a fantasy sword and sorcery setting, it's set in the transitional period from the Chalcolithic to the Bronze Age. I am somewhat a fan of the Bronze Age period, I wouldn't rank it necessarily in my top 3 but it's fairly up there. Especially I like Mesopotamia and the Assyrian Empires as favourites of mine, and I've read the Epic of Gilgamesh about four times.

Oh dang! I'm happy you get to RP and do things related to your interests bc that's almost always nice. What about those areas of history appeal to you personally?

Hmm, well with the Bronze Age it's the vibe and the aesthetic. It's as far back as written history goes, further back than you can really fully comprehend. The Roman Republic is as far removed from the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza temporally as we we are from the Romans. It's pretty crazy. Tons of technology we take for granted, even basic things like money, did not yet exist. Civilization was in its infancy.

Their entire view of the world was really different from ours, because while they were able to figure quite a lot of things out, the world was still a mystery, unexplored and unknown. There is an impressive blend of fact and myth in their telling of events. It's overall just very cool.

This is partially why I also like a lot of Japanese history; the blend of myth and historic known quantity. Even as late as the 19th and early 20th century you still hear lots of stories of spirits and demons running around and interacting with people.

You have events which are known, historically, to be legit, like the Genpei War. Yet in that same telling of events, you have stories about vengeful ghosts rising up to seek revenge. You have the common folk stories about Taira no Masakado, a real dude, who rose up in revolt against the Imperial Court.... and then how after his death, his head was mounted above the gates of Kyoto, yet continued to rave and rage at all that passed, and how his ghost continued to cause havoc and discord for over a thousand years after his demise.

Minamoto no Yoshitsune, real guy, who joined with five of his brothers he had never even met to destroy the Taira, the dominant hegemonic power over the country at the time, after their father's death and failed revolt when they were young. They established the first shogunate, the Kamakura Shogunate.

But funny thing, they say he went into the mountains as a young lad to be trained in the art of war by the Tengu King. Crazy stuff like that all throughout. You don't see this kinda thing most places at that point in history.

You have then the Bakumatsu, the end of the last shogunate, and all kinds of political intrigue between various factions throughout the country. Assassination, plots, uprisings, all kinds of cool stuff. Throughout Japanese history, you have all kinds of larger-than-life heroes that would fit right into Warhammer, but they were real.

Sometimes, I feel like going off and moving on to probably get some final RPs done here before I forget about coming back around here as well.

Hate to say it, but I suppose we've probably had our last hurrah as a group, but it's been truly fun effectively growing up with you guys. I was 14 when I first joined with you all who still see this, and I'm 23 as of last month. It's been quite an honor to be with you guys, though.

Honestly wished we all were roped back in one big group, keep better touch than our occasional sights, but well, I suppose we still do have right here. Thought I may as well post something for the memories, something I etched someplace in my high school ages ago in freshman year.

Yeah, is a shame things have gone the way they have but that's life I suppose.

I don’t think I’ve ever posted in here. Forgot I was in this region.

Well, there you go
